Lego Indiana Jones

I think the last thread was nuked from orbit, so here goes another...

The Indiana Jones "shop" is online now and saying that the game will be out on June 8th. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, then this...I'll be buying lots of Wii games the first half of 2008.

EDIT: June 8th is a Sunday, and I noticed the site says "Ships Jun 8", so I'm assuming that it actually is released on June 10th (a Tuesday).

I'm actually looking forward to this. Aside from the SNES game, I've never done much Indy gaming.

The flash game on the official site is a fun time waster.

I love the Star Wars lego games, although the second one is much better than the first. I'm really looking forward to Indy, and I hope it's coming out for the PS2. I'm not in the market for an upgrade yet.

The game is supposed to come out for just about every format. PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS, 360, and PC. EB lists the ship date for all versions as June 3.

That's good to know. Even if I wanted to upgrade, I don't think this is the game to do it.

Kotaku says:

A new fact sheet for the upcoming Lego Indiana Jones has been released today. Anything of note? Let's see here..."Tongue-in-cheek humor presents The Original Adventures in a manner only LEGO can whip up"....no. "Explore the globe and solve puzzles that encourage creative thinking through the use of teamwork and unique building situations only possible in a LEGO world". No, no no. "Cooperative gameplay encourages parents to share the legacy of Indiana Jones with their children in a fun and humorous way". Boring. AH. Here we are! "Unlock more than 60 playable characters, including villains and supporting characters (Marion Ravenwood, Short Round, Rene Belloq, Willie Scott, Marcus Brody, Jones Senior and Mola Ram)". Sixty characters, eh? Not super-surprising, since the Star Wars games had a big playable cast as well, but then Short Round was never in Star Wars, either, so this is much more exciting.

Everyone's gonna play as Toht, right?

LucasArts has announced Lego Indiana Jones 2 for Fall of 2009. Includes a new "Create your own adventure" option where you build your own level:

Quote:
LEGO® Indiana Jones 2™: The Adventure Continues combines the fun and creative construction of LEGO bricks with the wits, daring and non-stop action of one of cinema’s most beloved adventure heroes. With a unique, tongue-in-cheek take on all the Indiana Jones films — including for the first time ever Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull — LEGO Indiana Jones 2 follows Dr. Jones’ escapades from the jungles of South America to the Peruvian Ruins and beyond. Fans can experience the most authentic LEGO experience yet by designing and building their own levels brick by brick, and by fusing their levels with the ones in the game to create a custom experience. In LEGO Indiana Jones 2, everyone can build, battle and brawl their way through their favorite cinematic moments — or create their own.

I played two levels of Lego Batman when I realized I'm not having fun with these games anymore. They better completely overhaul the next Lego game (Harry Potter?) if they want to keep the adult gamers interested.

My wife and I were discussing what they could do next, and we agreed that they'll probably do Lego Harry Potter, but maybe not until the movies are finished. Or maybe they'll do similar to Star Wars and release one that covers the first 3-4 movies, then release another that addresses the rest.

I liked Lego Batman, but probably not as much as Indy. I think Indiana Jones took a large step forward by adding more puzzle-solving to the game play, and Batman took it a bit further, plus it had a lot of activities with vehicles. The problem I had with Batman was that my son and I got stuck a few times because it was hard to tell what some of the textures were in order to solve the puzzle--what was glass, etc. I had to check the internet to figure out how to get past them.

They announced exactly that right before E3. Lego HP:Years 1-4 will be released next year.

Yeah, Lego Indiana Jones was sort of the high point of the franchise for me. Lego Batman has its own charm because, hey, BATMAN - but yeah, vehicle levels (which I'm not too keen on) aside, there was little in the way of innovation, and it suffered quite a bit from the CAN'T SEE SHIT factor.

Next I would imagine that they'll give me one million dollars.

...

I said, "I WOULD IMAGINE THEY'LL GIVE ME ONE MILLION DOLLARS."

...

Oh well. I tried.

Lego Indy is bar far the best of the series so I welcome the sequal. Plus you get the added joy of killing Mutt Ravenwood over and over so thats bonus.

Batman has its flaws (still haven't compleatly finished it) but it is still the best Batman computer game I have played.

It feels kinda forced though, like they had to do another one because, hey, there's a fourth movie. Except no one would want to play said movie.

(ok ok, commie lego Blanchett is still an enticing prospect despite everything)

Lego Lord of the Rings...

I think I'd enjoy the fourth Indy in Lego version. Am especially interested in the level creator, I wonder how deep and expansive that is.
Okay, but the first one was Indy 1-3. Will this one be just Indy 4? Or is it more of an expansion set, featuring the old game plus Indy 4? Or will it have curious expanded universe and/or original adventures of Indiana Jones? If it pulls from the Find Your Fate books, I'll buy it. Indiana Jones and the Ape Slaves of Howling Island, Indiana Jones and the Cup of Dracula.
All 4, the first three will be expanded a bit.
They never topped the Star Wars editions of this. Not only was it fresh at the time, but the universe led itself better to the scale of these games.

Oh lord yes.

My understanding is that you play the first three again but different levels to the ones in the first game.

The level creator does sound like great fun.

Isn't that what they did when they released the Lego Star Wars Complete Saga game? I like the new stuff, but how many times are they going to "update" a game by re-releasing it with 27% more new content? Stuff like that, to me, screams for downloadable packs like the song stuff for Rock Band. I think the Lego stuff is ripe for that.

Picking this up today. Turned in the old game a few months ago, and traded in a couple of games on Sunday to "pre-order" this one. And got a nifty Lego Indy keychain for my troubles! Yeah, I'm lame.
Crushed by the fact that lego Mola-Ram lacked the ability to rip out lego-hearts in the first version.
I thought the first one was rather 'meh' compared to Lego Starwars original trilogy and Lego Batman. This one adds Crystal Skull? That sure isn't going to get me to buy it again.

Agreed that Lego Star Wars is easily the best. I'm still playing The Complete Saga (to get those 1000 achievement points on the 360) actually. I, too, was a bit underwhelmed by the first Indy. I'll borrow Indy 2 from my friend who picked it up today.

I'm anxious for Lego Harry Potter, and if they ever did Lego LoTR, my god...

I wonder what the odds of every getting a lego Marvel or DC universe game are..........

ETA: as in extended universe, not just Bats, though I love the Batman game..........

The interface is a lot different. My son played through the Crystal Skull level last night. Instead of having the big museum that you go back to after each level, you come back to this screen and it shows you boxes of Legos from the corresponding movies. Also, instead of just buying new characters at the end of levels, you can actually buy characters while you're in the level. For example, you can beat up Nazis over and over, and when one with a ? over their head comes out, you punch them once or twice, then you have the option to buy them. Also, Indy's whip will capture people and let you drag them around. Plus, if you're playing two players, the screen will split if you go too far away from each other.
that screen split would go along to way to prolonging my sons' lives. They play together all the time and fight about which direction to go i.
