That post about a RE4 Xbox360/PS3 port inspired me to ponder which games I'd love to see ported to the new generation of consoles.
I'll open with "S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl"...an Xbox360/PS3 port would be a godsend for me, givn my love of that games...just add some content, make sure it runs smoothly bundle it with the "Clear Sky" prequel, and Id pay 50 bucks for that puppy.
how about you?

Any of Tim Schaefer's old games: DOTT, Full Throttle.

Shit, any/all of LucasArts back catalog: Tie Fighter, X-Wing, The Dig, MONKEY ISLAND, etc.
Snatcher. I'd like to remember when Hideo Kojima didn't have his head up his ass.

Absolutely. Those fuckers still need to do another MI, just to right what EFMI did to that series. And it'll sell like bretzels nowadays, THEY know it.

Fucking Super Star Wars, dammit!
Only if they update it. The framerate on that fucker was abominable.

Zombies Ate My goddamn Neighbors.

Survival Horror Comedy. Motherfucker is GOLD!

Fuck yes! I haven't played it in years, but that was the only reason I bought the Sega Cd.

"Monster Madness: Battle for suburbia" does a good (not great, though) job of recreating that awesome gameplay and humor...worth a rental or buying from a bargain bin.

Quoted for da truf. Played this game for days on end, and could still pick it up right now and do the same. Boss battles in this game were a bitch.
I thought that game fucking sucked (Monster Madness) the demo controls were horrible. Although it definately was trying to ape ZAMN, it just didn't sit well with me.

Never played the demo---i got it for cheap a few weeks ago, and im loving it...not a great game, but its good for what it is.
Plus, at one point a character actually screams: "Zombies HAVE eaten my neighbours!"

I missed the old PS1/Squaresoft days. I wished they brought back games like Xenogears, Parasite Eve and Einhander instead of just resting with their FF laurels although Ehrgeiz was innovative for its time.

This I can get behind. While I think PE2 kinda screwed the pooch, since I revisited the game not too long ago, I've been imagining what Square could do with this series in the current gen, and in my head, it's really fucking amazing.

God, yes. The British reviewing council rated the game sometime last year. I'm still anxiously waiting for Nintendo to unleash the game on the VC. I need it.
Speaking of the VC: the Japanese are getting Dracula X: Rondo of Blood.

Eventually, I'm hoping, they'll get around to releasing that goddamned game on a system I own.

Fuck Japan...fuck me for not having a Wii or a PSP.
I think Sega's Star Wars Trilogy Arcade (1998) should finally get a home release...preferably on the 360.
I've always thought that, but figured that since you can't really duplicate the experience that it would never make it. Then again, you've got the Wii and it's controller now, so it could port pretty well, I think.

Phantasy Star I - IV with updated graphics, all on one disc would make my millenium.
I still think that Zombies Ate My goddamn Neighbors wins the thread.

I want this so very much now. Why remind me of this?

I was able to find an emulated version of (I'm guessing) the European version called Zombies. That being said, if this were to make it's way onto the VC I would gladly buy it.
I kept busy a few years ago playing the ROM version along with all the Ninja Gaidens.

But you can only get so much fun from playing it on your computer screen.

Crossposting this from the "Games that deserve more love" thread

- Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara

- Guardian Heroes
A beat 'em up for the Saturn that is absolutely sublime. Great music and some of the best arcade-style action in any game ever. This, the D&D game above and Strider rotate being my favorite classic action game.

Also, I would club a thousand baby seals for Capcom to update Strider like they've done with Bionic Commando.

Baby seals? Pfffffft! Id kill half the people here on the boards for a Strider update.

Any love for Chrono Trigger?

The 3d remake that a fan team was making looked awesome until Square hit it with a +20 of awesome lawyers.

Oh, don't get me started on this one. There was supposed to be a 4-disc compilation of these, with updated graphics, sound, etc. The first two got made separately, Sega scrapped the other two in favor of a compilation of all four titles, unaltered.

None of these will ever see American soil.

This pisses me the fuck off.

Persona 2: Innocent Sin needs to make it across the Atlantic to PAL land.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment needs to make it outside Japan, along with quite a few others in the series.
It's not mentioned enough: Tie Fighter, Tie Fighter, Tie Fighter, Tie Fighter.

I'd also kill for Jedi Outcast's engine being used to update Jedi Knight. That game (and Tie Fighter) made my childhood.

I sorta fucking miss Daytona USA.
Holy shit. I can't believe I forgot about this one. And I always post it in threads like this.

X-COM!

Fuck the sequels and the UFO reimaging crap as well.

Give me X-COM, with Hi-Def sprites and maybe updated music and I'd be in fucking heaven.

I really miss the Looney Tunes games they put out in the 90's. Games like Bugs Bunny in Rabbit Rampage, the Road Runner game, and Duck Dodgers. They were really fun and quite challenging. I know there was a Duck Dodgers game for the 64, but that was quite horrible. I'd love for there to be a next-gen game that was able to capture that feeling of being in a cartoon like the games did.

Understatement. I never managed to finish Road Runner (even with the 75 lives cheat) or Bugs Bunny (never could understood what the fuck you were supposed to do in the final stage).

You know what was better than those though ? The whole bunch of Konami Tiny Toons game. The Game Boy ones, SNES Buster Busts Loose...I have very fond memories of these games. Of course I loved the Tiny Toons back in the day and it probably helped elevate what were pretty standard platformers at heart, but damn if those games weren't all nicely done, with great graphics, varied gameplay (I used to love the footbal game in Buster Busts Loose) and a good sense of humor. Course, the popularity of these characters is long since past so it wouldn't make much sense remaking them...

On the subject, while we're talking Konami, I'd love to have an update or port of Sunset Riders (we still don't have enough western games, dammit) and I'd really really love if they could bring out the old arcade Asterix beat them up, which is still to this day the best game based on that character. Oh, and Pop'n Twin Bee needs a reprieve.

I second the mentions of Snatcher, especially since I haven't played it (fingers crossed for the upcoming bunch of Snatcher based projects done by Kojima and Suda 51) and Dungeons and Dragons Shadow Over Mystara heartily.
Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose was definitely a great game. It was also hard as shit because you never got an explanation on how to do anything, or what enemies you could and could not jump on. You would just have to experiment. The football level was one of the most "out-there" moments for me, especially because at the time I had no knowledge of how football was played.

Moar Planescape: Torment plzkthx.

Sega's Tokyo Wars, and Gunblade NY never were ported to consoles in the USA.

I would also like to see some of the earlier Marvel arcade games like The X-Men, Captain America And The Avengers, Maximum Carnage, The Punisher and G.I. Joe.

While in high school, a friend of mine worked at the arcade in town and I tried for months to convince him to convince his manager to bring in the arcade version. Sadly I never got through to them.

Contra. With the NES 30 plus guys code still there.

I am against this idea. Personally, the best part about games like Gunblade is the big honkin' peripheral that the arcade cabinet came with. A controller wouldn't be the same.

My little sister was digging around in a closet recently; she found my old Genesis and some games, among them Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

It is just as glorious now as it was back in the day.
I'll second the vote for Full Throttle, it may have been a tad short, but it was one of the most entertaining point and click games I personally have ever played, and the lead character was incredibly badarse.

I'd also add updated Monkey Island 1 & 2 to that list with new graphics and a full visual makeover.

Oh and it never gets much mention these days but I would love to see an updated version of old Cinemaware titles from the 80's like It Came From The Desert (a fun homage to THEM!), Sinbad and the Throne of the Falcon, Lords of the Rising Sun and especially Defender of the Crown (a huge fave of mine as a boy).

Sierra seem to get brought up again and again when us oldies talk about retro gaming, but Cinemaware was always my favourite publisher personally.

God, I love Sunset Riders so damn much. It needs to be on Xbox Live NOW.

As far as Asterix goes, is this good enough for you?
