It doesn't hurt that my taste in movies (and often music as well) is pretty similar to Russ's. Even better, though, I think over time he's evolved from very good to great as a writer here at CHUD. If I see his name attached to an article, I make it a point to read it even if I have little interest in the subject. He's top shelf, no doubt.

I'd love to join in this group orgy, but I can't say Russ' writing really stands out to me. Then again, sometimes I think Dre, Devin, and Jeremy only stand out to me for all the wrong reasons. Russ is consistent, but I couldn't think of one thing he's written off the top of my head.

Now where's the Phil Owen appreciation thread?

Obviously I don't miss Russ' stuff, I just don't remember it afterwards. But like I said, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Devin is memorable for his evil troll vibe, Dre for his senile rambling, and Jeremy for his monocle and elite vocabulary. I'm not sure Russ has such a hook, which makes him a nice counterbalance.

I have personal reasons for not liking Russ.

And if he ever goes near her again, i'll break his kneecaps.

But his writing's crispy enough.
