To reply to Diva's initial comment, I'm getting kind of weary of the "as long as they can mock themselves, they get a free pass" sentiment that a lot of people seem to share. I like celebrities to have a sense of humor about themselves, but lately it happens so often that it rarely seems like anything other than self-publicity.
To provide examples, Justin Timberlake seems to legitimately have a sense of humor about himself, doing things on SNL (like that Beyonce "Single Ladies" parody) that genuinely mock the sexy and cool image he has of himself. John Mayer wearing the Borat swimsuit or dressing up as a bear and mocking his fans, that's an actual sense of humor about yourself. Guest starring on Extras or Entourage and pretending to be an asshole, it just doesn't seem sincere in the least.
