Netflix Instant View Question

So I was gearing up to watch Frankenstein on the Instant View when I noticed it's listed as "Frankenstein/Bride of Frankenstein". How does that work? Does it just finish Frankenstein's credits and then start right into Bride of Frankenstein?

You know it's pretty easy to figure out. In a lot less time than it took to post this thread even. In a lot less time than it took to post this response. Really quite easy.

The kid's got a point.

I'm sorry I forgot to specify, I'm not near the computer that has the Netflix Player on it so if it's in there I can't find it at the moment. That was my mistake. I'm guessing based on the responses once I get that computer back it'll become readily apparent.

EDIT: Wow, worded that first entry really poorly didn't I? Just ignore me.

Okay, Netflix just got ridiculously better. They added all the Starz movies so the selection of movies people might actually want to watch just sky-rocketed.

I need the new XBox Live Experience NOW.

That's rockin' like Dokken. Supposedly, the PS3 is supposed to have the Netflix service available also, so I'm waiting for that to happen. They've got some Sony movies available now, in both SD and HD.

That's awesome. I'll have to try it. I've watched one video through my PS3 that I had ripped to my PC using the Media Server thing, and it was actually pretty good response. If you FF or RW, it's kind of choppy, but otherwise it was great.

The Netflix solution supposedly involves you buying a disc from Netflix for like $5 and installing it on your PS3, and then you have full access to the View Instantly movies.

For some reason I couldn't get the Play Now player to work right on IE. And it doesn't at all for Firefox, right?

Microsoft DRM software error
Your Microsoft Digital Rights Management software is not working properly and needs to be reset.

To resolve this issue, please call Netflix technical support at 1-866-402-2616, or contact technical support here and report the following error code:

If you are comfortable running a utility to fix this problem yourself, you may also follow the instructions in our FAQ on the Reset DRM Utility.
WMPError(C00D11E2)

A Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM) component encountered a problem. If you are trying to use a file that you obtained from an online store, try going to the online store and getting the appropriate usage rights.
There's also some other streaming box that Netflix offers for $100. ROKU. Anyone try that out? Nevermind, here's a thread.

Holy shit! Finally, my roku box will get some use.

Seriously, this is all but a death knell for Blockbuster.

EDIT: Thanks Chris Allen

Dish Network also now has movies on demand in 1080p. I haven't partaken yet, though.

I would like to think it was, but there is still a huge number of people who still like to go into an actual store to pick out a new movie. (and technically, it's death knell.)
Would have been funnier if he said "death nail in the coffin."

Now where can I get a box of these death nails?

I installed Playon, and am able to watch YouTube stuff, but it gives me a "data corrupted" msg on the PS3 when I try to view a Netflix movie. Don't know if it's because of my internet connection is too slow or what.

Could be. Netflix seems to be pretty picky. We've got what I thought was a pretty good connection, but we could only do the view instantly thing on the lowest possible quality, which wasn't worth the effort. It was pretty much impossible to watch.

ETA: This wasn't through a PS3; just through a PC.

I've got a question as well. How many TV shows are available for instant viewing on Netflix? I'm debating canceling my cable TV once the XBox 360 update gets released but I'd like to be able to use it to catch up on shows I missed the first couple seasons of and don't really want to start watching in the middle.

Mainly I'd like to watch Dexter, The Wire, Mad Men, etc. because getting whole seasons on discs didn't fit my viewing schedule (I tried to do that with Blockbuster Online back in the day and it just frustrated me since I would want a new movie before I finished the episodes on the disc or I wouldn't be able to get a specific disc of the season for some reason so I was stuck waiting on it).

Anyway, any feedback on how useful instant viewing is for that kind of thing would be appreciated.

Just like anything else, it's just a fraction of the content that is available for instant viewing. From the 3 shows you mentioned, only Dexter season 1 is currently available for instant view. I have a ton of TV shows in my queue, and I just scanned it - none of the ones I have are instant view.

Some recent shows which do have some seasons instantly playable? Dexter, Weeds, Heroes, The Office, Dead Like Me, The L Word. Looks like nothing from HBO is instant view.
They at one point were putting out The Office episodes and Heroes episodes like the day after the show aired. Hell, I quit recording the Sarah Conner Chronicles last season because it came out on DVD this summer. And I have yet to watch an episode of "Heroes" or "Lost". I figure I'll sit down one day and watch them uninterrupted. I don't watch/record much episodic TV. My wife does, however.
Yeah, I'm interested in Lost but (having not ever watched it ever) but my friend has the first 2 seasons on DVD and I'd like to see 3 and 4 on Blu-ray. I figured I'd just watch them all before the last season started.

They have the Grindhouse: Double Feature listed on their New Arrivals, I have no idea if it actually includes the trailers though. It'd be nice to at least see those again.
Damn. That Starz package will likely make me cancel Starz.

Velvet Goldmine, Videodrome, My Kid Could Paint That, all on Watch it now. Sweet.

It's the theatrical cut with all the trailers.

I don't think it's completed yet.

Half of the fun with "Lost" though is debating different theories and what's going to happen next every week on message boards or with friends. At least I think so.

When I use Watch It Now the quality of the feed always sucks. It is never DVD level quality. I use a wireless connection to my router and I have a pretty decent speed (3-4mbps on average I would say). I checked the Netflix FAQ and it says the viewer modifies the feed quality based on your connection speed. Well, that doesn't seem to be true. I hard-wired my PC to my router and I now get faster speeds (6-10mbps). And still the quality is really poor. Its still very watchable on my monitor though. I'm concerned that when I try and use this on my 360 (in another room on a lower floor) and watch it on my HDTV it is going to look like utter horse shit. What kind of PQ do ya'll see using the Watch It Now service?

Working now with the newest version.

Smails, on my HDTV, picture quality is between a VHS tape and DVD. I've only watched one or two movies so far, though. And my connection speed is like 1.5mps shitty DSL. The connection to the PC is wired to my router, but the connection to the PS3 is wireless.
Well, functionality just got enabled for TiVo (even HD video) so no more trying to hear over the whir of the 360. Not quite as slick as the 360 menu but still works pretty well.

Go to Video On Demand->Netflix->Watch Instantly to get a code and then www.tivo.com/netflix and find the link to Netflix to activate it. Then your instant queue is available on your TiVo. Glad I don't feel obligated to keep up an XBL Gold membership to watch on my TV now.
If you are using a PC to watch movies there is a way to increase the quality. When the movie starts and before you go full screen, click on the black section and then click shift + B.
I just noticed that the instant viewing feature is now available for Mac! Woo-Hoo!!!!
Anyone know if there is a site or something that lists all the new releases with Instant Viewing?

Ill always see something listed on the main page, then when i go to view all it wont be in the list or be completely out of order.
Hm, when I go to the Watch Instantly section there's a little link below the tap at the to that says New Releases. They're not presented in a straight forward list, though.
Yeah i know about that, but its very unreliable. Just today, on the main Instant Watch page I added Batman & Robin and Starship Troopers to my instant. I clicked on the New Releases and neither of those titles were listed.
That's weird because when I was responding to you I went to my Netflix just to make sure I had it right and both of those movies were in the New Arrival section.

ETA: When I look at my Netflix through Safari I have one set of new arrivals, and when I look at it through Firefox I have a different set of new arrivals.

Found a website that lists everything new, old, and expiring.
