No thread yet? Rectified!

New trailer's online- http://chud.com/articles/articles/14...S-0/Page1.html

The first one.... so much fun. As everyone here knows. I hope there's another Deck of 52.
Excellent original, i'd been hyped about this for months. Until it was delayed.
I never did play the first one. Glad to see this one has online co-op in order for me to forget that little fact.
The first was a real surprise, and got a ton of play time on my Xbox.

And they ditched the Deck of 52 Alex. At least the last previews out a while back said they had ditched it, which really kind of sucks. Perhaps it will be more of a "GTA4 cell phone" style mission gathering.

Yeah, I'm hoping that's not the truth. Cause it was damn fun going through that deck. Also hope they don't focus too much on the main guy's backstory... we really didn't need a story for the first one... it just worked, and worked well.
Loved the first (as evidenced in that old thread Alex dug up). Hope the sequel is just as fun.

Yeah the trailer was odd to focus on the one guy. I'm hoping they let us pick the player we want to use, maybe even per mission, and expand greatly on their different skill sets.

If any of you have any questions about this game, let's hear'm. Going to be doing a Q&A with the developers.
If you use any of these, feel free to parse them into not dickish speak.

Are they intending to have a story with all the explosions, as evidenced by the latest trailer? I don't know about you, but I remember skipping all skippable cinemas and speeches and such in the first game so as to get onto the killing. And I never skip cinemas and speeches.

Will multi be co-op or will there also be deathmatch style stuff? Is co-op two players or are there more?

Is the game still reliant on bullshit, no checkpoint, rewatch the cinemas each fucking time you die from a fucking random stupid Korean soldier driving at you full speed while the camera was not in a prime position horseshit, long ass fucking missions like the first time, or will there be mid mission checkpoints?

Is it going to be focused on the Swede, or do we still get to pick one of the 3 mercs to run around with?

If we actually get to play all 3, do the skills actually make a difference now, or is it just Easter eggs like hearing different languages again?

With no Deck of 52, what progresses the game?
"Do we get to blow shit up?"
Holy shit. Check out this co-op trailer:

http://ve3d.ign.com/videos/35233/PC/...orld-in-Flames

I'm completely sold.
Going to get this one on release day, because of my love for the original...hope you have fun at the Q&A, Alex.
This is a release day buy for me, hoping to unleash hell with some of you bastards on Co-Op. I'm a sucker for free roaming carnage 'em ups like this and Just Cause.
I love the fact that it's completely drop-in, drop-out, and you don't use a special mode to get to co-op. A good friend of mine loves to play co-op, but he has a family and all the typical familial distractions, so it'll be great that we can just jump into each other's games whenever we want.
I rented the first one and ended up buying a copy because I enjoyed it so much. My biggest issue with the first one was that I had trouble controlling the aircraft without accidentally crashing them. And it was hard to find some stuff on the map, and if you hit out of bounds, you instantly blew up. I did love the game, though. I'm definitely looking forward to this one.
At last, my dream of becoming a tank paratrooper can become a reality!

I showed this to a guy i do most of my co-op gaming with last night and his reaction was "OMG LAUNCH DAY BUY!!!"
Some in-game footage recently made me think the environment looked a little bare, possibly leading me to worry this'll be too similar to another odd chud-favourite "Just Cause".

Fingers crossed i'm wrong.
TV ad for Mercs 2.

At first I thought the song was inappropriate for the game. And then I watched a helicopter pick up a tank and BOTH KEPT FIRING.

"Oh no you didn't" seems like the general theme to this game.

Just Cause is a game that would be terrible if it wasn't so awesome at times. I just love it for its sheer insanity, like scaling a fucking Volcano to assassinate a General as he pays a visit to a whorehouse. It's the STALKER of the 360.
So I heard this game has an explosion or two?

Man, just 5 days until I blow shit up all over Venezuela. I hope the music is as amazingly epic as it was in Mercs 1.
Whether a failure, or a success - it'll be glorious.
I cannot wait for this game. I was going to snag Tales this week, but no point. I am going to spend hours, and hours, and hours blowing shit up. I think at this point I'm more excited about it than I was for GTA4, and I was rabid for GTA. And damn, does it look pretty.
This is the first game I've ever pre-ordered. Fuck knows why, seen as my usual policy involves getting games from ASDA at Midnight, but I thought I'd have a go at this online ordering malarkey and I'm legitimately hyped for this game.
Is the co-op online only or is there split screen too?

Online only.
Well, looks like the 31st is the actual street date. Some Gamestop employees are confirming the shipment in stores and there's already leaked copies being played right now.

Leaked gameplay video (minor mission spoilers).

Goddammit, I want it so very much.
Me and a friend from work are going to check out a store that lists it as in stock on their website. I'll update if I get my hands on a copy.
Right, which one of you fuckers are on the PSN and want to co-op this sexy exploding thing when it's out?
Seriously given how much of a selling point the online element is I'd be surprised if anyone willingly got this for the PS3.

This is more aimed at the Chud community but I do think the bias is still for the 360 at the moment. I mean there's what four or five dedicated PS3ers here?
The multiplayer component involves blowing shit up with a friend. I as much as anyone appreciates Live's abilities - but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to light a match.
(That's me saying I'll be willingly getting this for the PS3. Ignoring the criticism, honestly - anyone game?)
Sorry Bees?!, 360 version for me, and maybe a few weeks after the release (money problems).
Also, not to derail, but if this game allows me to strap C4 on people (say, sneaking on an enemy patrolman and blowing him up when he's near my target, anyone?), that would be an awesome game feature...but i doubt that's in.
It's honestly not a dig, but since you guys don't pimp your PSN tags - but do with Live, i'll assume you either don't own, or don't use your PS3s. The question was kinda aimed as PS3 owners, or multi-console.
This game looks pretty awesome. I'll be picking it up the first day.

BTW, gamertag is Muharulz. Add me and we'll light em up.

The video I've seen seems to showcase C4 which can be attached to anything. If they're happy with car bombing I'm sure they'll be happy with forcing people to be suicide bombers.
I'm pretty sure we've seen footage of it being attached to NPCs. God knows about multiplayer though, you seen any footage of that (the multiplayer) yet Spike?
Isn't there a link to co-op video in this thread. I think at one point a guy in a helicopter winches up a tank with the other player in it which was one of the most hilariously awesome things I've ever seen

If that's true, it would be awesome if they added an "Unwilling Martyr" achievement.

Yeah, I linked to it above, and THE TANK KEEPS AIMING AND FIRING.

Don't recall any C4 antics in it, tho'.
The C4 Stuff I saw was during this 14 minute gameplay video

http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/actio...tage-show-demo

It shows off how you drop in supplies, air raids, nuclear weapons and forest fires.
So the 31st is the release date, huh. Can't remember the last Sunday game release. I'll be calling around all weekend I imagine...
Looks like there's stock showing up in stores on the Best Buy website already. Going to try on the way home, may I can find a foolish best buy employee to sell me one...
I need it now.
Dear Pandemic: when your vehicle physics are already lightweight and a bit wonky, please do not ask me to complete a boring and TIMED checkpoint race with a vehicle that is prone to turning over and bouncing around a lot.

Thanks.
Yeah. The physics do look a little like they're trying to go the complete opposite way of GTA's recent offering.

I can see this being frustrating.

No wait... want it... now...

ARGH. TIMED anything in games sux. So pointless and arbitrary.

Example: I'm loving Bourne Conspiracy, right? Great brawling and shooting and driving. Come to a boss fight where none of the moves you've used during the game result in a hit, You have to counter the guy and get in "special" hits when you can. OK, fine, fight takes ten to twelve minutes but I do it.

Later in the game, another identical boss fight happens but now it's timed, in a burning building, so you have to execute the same painstaking moves you did earlier, but on a timeline.

I refuse to finish the game on principles alone.

OK. I'm only playing solo so far, so maybe the multi will be better, but now all MERCS 2 manages to be is a very pale GTA clone with a heavy emphasis on blowing shit up. The map isn't very interesting, the vehicles are only OK and it takes a while to get a decent collection of weapons going. Once you hit a certain point you can cause a lot of carnage, but then traversing the map from end to end (even with helicopter assistance) isn't that much fun. Unless the multiplayer really kicks my ass I'd call it a rental.
