Dancer at Topless Club Catches Fire During Routine

Quote:
Club patrons were astonished at what took place at Larry Flynt's Hustler Club early Friday morning, a dancer caught fire around 4am. The dancer who used fire in her routine accidentally burned her face, and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. KSLA News 12 is told from witnesses that the incident happened very fast. In a matter of seconds they say the dancer's head was engulfed in flames, that's when guest services ran up on stage and covered the dancer to put out the flames. The activity in the club paused as she was being treated by paramedics. She was then rushed to the hospital where she is recovering from first degree burns to her face. Club management refuses to comment on the matter, and did not return several phone calls placed to Larry Flynt's Hustler Club. We are told however, employees there are concerned for the dancer and say that she's a "great girl".
Ouch.

Pretty rotten turn of events for a woman who earns her money based on sex appeal. People who have burns on their face aren't very sexy at all. I'd go as far as to say they are the least sexy people I've encountered. They just don't have what it takes to be sexy. I don't think I've ever walked by someone who had burns on their face and thought to myself "Ooh la la, let's have at it!" Not once.

Do first-degree burns require grafting? Or will she just look like she passed out in the Sahara for a few weeks?

How come first degree burns are the best kind of burns while first degree murder is the worst kind of murder? They should flip a coin and keep burns and murder on the same consistant rate of degrees. That's my view, anyway.

No joke, I was talking to a friend about this last night. Also learned that there are such things as 4th, 5th, and 6th degree burns. 7th would apparently be incineration.

Most sunburns are first-degree. She should heal completely.

From wikipedia:

Quote:
On August 8, 1992, during the financially successful co-headlining GNR-Metallica Stadium Tour with Guns N' Roses, James Hetfield suffered severe second and third degree burns to his arms, face, hands, and legs. There was confusion with the new pyrotechnics setup, which resulted with Hetfield walking into a 12-foot (3.7 m) flame during "Fade to Black". Newsted recalls Hetfield's skin was "bubbling like on The Toxic Avenger".
For having 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his face and bubbling skin, you'd never really know it now, so I imagine 1st degree isn't that devastating.

Good point on the degree qualifiers, Molti. Maybe 1st degree burns can be spontaneous combustion, 2nd is intentional self-immolation (Tibetan monks are all about 2nd degree burns!) while 3rd is unplanned accidental pyrofication by someone else?

Or you know, making 1st the worst of both works too.

Which they then scoop up, put into a dish and make into a bunch of shiny things you can't afford (cuz hey, you don't have a heart anymore) and then they get used to that standard of living and, come the divorce, sue you for even more than you're worth so they can keep said heart while you live out your days alone under a bridge. Without a heart.

Burns man, fucking burns.

7th Degree burns? Jesus, if the body has the consistency of BBQ, is it necessary to classify a burn degree?

The description of 6th degree, which was as high as the classifications went, said that often only charred bone remains. Which I translated to my roommates as "6th means falling-off-the-bone tender".

1st degree burns can be worse than 3rd degree burns believe it or not. A large area 1st degree burn can and usually will develop an infection whereas a smaller third degree burn can be treated. What I'm getting at is that it's not just degree, it's also surface area.

One of the perks of being a CPS Investigator is learning all these fancy facts about burning skin. I have a manual somewhere that tells you how hot and how long something has to burn to make skin bubble and fall off.

My job is awesome!!

B_Metal is now the second CPS investigator I've come across online. The first one was a guy who worked for the state of IL when I used to chat over at AICN.

When I slip a crisp one dollar bill into the dancer's stocking and tell her to "take it all off" - I'm only talking about the bra and g-string - not the skin.

Was this man anywhere near the club when the accident happened?

I was once stuck in the bathroom of Flashdancer's in new York celebrating my 30th birthday, no less) when a guy literally fell out of one of the stalls with an epileptic seizure. The attendant vaulted over him to tell management, and the guy's brother reached into his mouth to stop him from biting his tongue further (he already had bitten it, and blood was frothing on his lips). I was trapped by the sinks, which are along a sort of hallway off the main bathroom that ends in a blank wall, and they were blocking the only exit. I couldn't leave until EMT's stretchered the guy out, about a half hour later.

By then he was pretty much OK, and they were taking him in for observation. So I of course returned to my celebration.
