This game has kinda flown under the radar, but after looking at it in action, I can say that I think "The World Ends With You" will be another must own title for the Nintendo DS

The World Ends With You/

Reviews are coming in too

This is one of my most anticipated DS titles. Like the genre, love the art style.

Looks pretty great, Verb.

I really need to get on Phoenix Wright 3 and Professor Layton..

Yep, definitely looking forward to this joint (along with Rondo of Swords). I've gotten back into Contact this week, and I think I'll knock it out in short order, leaving me ready for more non-medieval RPG fun.

$30 at Circuit City this week only. You better buy it now.

My wife was able to snag a copy for me today (i'll offer some thoughts tomorrow, assuming I get to play some tonight)

you know I think my wife buying me a video game at circuit city is the equivalent of me going to the store and buying tampons for her. I totally love her for this.

This is extracted from my crappy blog:
Let me say that this game is unlike any RPG you have ever played.

great art style and the JPOP Music that plays is definately a unique twist, but gives you that Tokyo vibe. I'm also a "sucka" for JPOP music, so that gives it a 10 out of 10 in the audio department.

So what is so "supa Fresh" that makes me use really "Wack" slang words to describe the game?Well turns out the English translators decided every character in the game should talk this way as well. It's a little cringe-worthy, but we have 14 year old white boys in my neighborhood that talk the same way. So I guess the dialogue is "On-point".

As a left-handed stylus user, I'm at a disadvantage. This is the first game I have ever played where I'm looking at two screens at the same time and trying to move 2 different characters at the same time, using the stylus in my left hand and using the ABXY buttons with my right hand to move the second character. I think its impossible.

Luckily, I can let the second player run on Auto-play. I just wish I was "the Mack" and could actually have the dexterity to do both.

This game will probably be in the running for RPG of the year, just for the unique-ness alone. I'm only 45 minutes into the game, but I'm already sucked into this Tokyo world. Non-fantasy RPG's and Non-sci-fi RPG's are kind of a rare breed, so its definately worth checking out.

I would most notably compare it to Bleach in its action (similar to killing Hollows) and the anime Air Gear, for its anime/present day hip hop style.

I cant give it a score yet, but right now I'm just learning the ropes. .. and the submenus on how to level my player with the right clothing and Psych techniques.

Been playing this the last few days, like it a lot. Might have a review up on the main page when I'm done.

As much as Penny Arcade is praising this game, you'd think there would be more talk about it.

Loving the fact I gain experience even when I'm not playing. and I'm finally getting the controls down. Using both hands at the same time is pretty darn tough.

Holy crap, you can't buy this sucker new already at Amazon. I wonder when they'll get it back in stock.

"You bought me tampons?! That's so thoughtful!"

Better comparrison would have been shoes.

I rather like Shiren, myself, but I'll admit it's not exactly kind to the player.

Can anyone tell me how to properly play with Joshua.

I got very nimble with Shiki and then week two started and now I'm playing with this guy Joshua and my right hand can handle the combos.

my left hand is with stylus and my right hand is on the button scheme.

It seems like every hit with Joshua starts with a Y or A, then branches to X or B? Do you need to pick the right combo to higher or lower the number? If that is the case, I'm always picking the wrong one because the moves are too fast to type.

well now I know why no one is playing this game...

Joystiq get confirmation from Square it sold out too fast.

it really is a must own DS title for fans of innovative gaming.

I just got this. Started last night, and I'm on Day 2. Very interesting so far.

Any insight into what mingling with another DS offers?

I was never able to find anyone to mingle with.. but you can take and share pins.

This was a truly great game and any astute gaming publication or website will probably have it as a lock for game of the year.

Do you remember about when Mingle mode became available? My coworker and I tried it yesterday, but realized that neither of us had that option under the phone menu yet.

It might not be available until the second week..

I got Mingle mode over the weekend. It happens on Day 4 of the first week. I've mingled with one friend running a different game so far (a "Civvie"), and I'll mingle it with the Wii's download mode once I get home. Another friend at work has the game, and we'll see what two copies of the game do when they mingle in a day or so.

Really loving the game now that I've opened up a lot of stuff.

This is good but at what point do they stop introducing new gameplay elements and just let me play the damn thing?
Got this for $9.99 on one of Amazon's Gold Box deals and played through Day 1 last night. I can honestly have no idea what's going on so far.

I like it, but goddamn I can't get the dual-screen controls down. It would help if I played it more than twice, I'm sure.

Yeah, I'm a lefty, and the split screen battle basically became me mashing buttons with one hand while slashing the stylus across the touch screen. What can I say? I'm a quality gamer.
