The lead actor/producer of my second feature, "The Supermarket," has been working on a documentary about the making of the $1,000 film and the real-life story of what was actually going on in the town with Big Box development that inspired the movie in the first place. I was considering throwing this in Shameless Self Promotion, but there really isn't much of an opportunity for any of youse to see the actual film anyways so this isn't really advertising.
But I thought it might be interesting to see the way a homegrown cottage industry can grow out of nothing in a small farm town to support a big sprawling movie and then have people show up in droves when it screens, without even so much as a single dollar or an eyeball coming from outside county lines.
It's a great trailer for a great documentary, and I'm extremely proud that my friend was able to put it all together this naturally as he has never been a film student or aspiring filmmaker of any kind, and is just a supermarket meat cutter who had a story he genuinely wanted to tell. Take a look at the trailer if ye wish and hope it gives you hope for the abilities of the YouTube generation!
