Cable is an offensive guy. He was their o-line coach, before he became the interim HC, and he also took over the offensive playcalling for the last five games of the season.
As for Garrett, he can't make a lateral move to another team, unless Jerry Jones lets him out of his contract. Garrett wouldn't do that in a million years, anyways. He's getting paid reportedly $3 mil a year as OC for the Cowboys. If Rex Ryan lands the HC job in NY, he will probably sign a contract similar to Spags, which is a little less then $3 mil a season. You won't be seeing Garrett making that kind of money there.
