NBA Playoffs Thread

Figured the Spurs/Suns double OT game 1 deserved a thread to belong to.

If only someone on the Suns had fouled Ginobli before he passed to Duncan for that three-pointer at the end of the 1st OT. Up three with a couple seconds to go, why not give up two free throws and win by one?

What a great game.
It's madness to not foul in those situations. Great game, yeah, but the Suns fucking blew it.
what a great game, the nba is getting close to the early to mid nineties greatness when john tesh ruled the opening credits
post #4 of 263
As a Suns fan, I found myself on the ledge about to jump....

We'll get it back in game 2, however.
Since I started living in Arizona I've begun to like the NBA and naturally the Suns in particular. Really disappointing game.
Good to see the Pistons are their usual, beatable selves.

Not to me it isn't, not to me.

Go Celts?

Jeez, if the Pistons lose, might as well plan for Boston in the Finals.

Though LeBron scares me, and rightfully so.
The Cavs should get past the Wizards, but I don't like their chances beyond that. It's the old stand-and-watch-LeBron problem.

The Pistons are doing their whole "Hey, it's best-of-seven, we been here before, ain't a problem" post-game schtick that served them so well in the Cavs series last year.
I'm kind of glad the Raptors didn't roll over and die against the Magic -- I think the worst thing for Orlando right now would have been to have that first game be a laugher. Sure, it's discouraging that they couldn't keep them down, but now they've been tested by a playoff fourth quarter that mattered and showed they can step up, espeically Howard.

Can't wait for the first "Guaran-Sheed"!
I'm just hoping to see the Spurs and Pistons get knocked out. Please God, grant me this.

And I don't know what the hell D'Antoni was thinking there.
I have no respect left for Gilbert Arenas as a basketball player. He's a punk who has an outsized opinion of his own abilities, and most of his teammates (particularly Haywood and Stevenson) are equally deluded. Jamison and Butler are the class of that franchise. Hopefully, the Cavs will put them out in four (but this is a *very* sketchy Cavs team).

From your lips to God's ear, sonic boom.

Go suns.
Let's have a hand for Gilbert Arenas and the Wizards everybody! Bravo on an absolutely pathetic, nearly unwatchable effort.

Oh, we rolled over. Smitch decided to rewrite the playbook after the end of the regular season, and Bargnani started as SF, a position has hasn't played all year.

If you think that game tested the Magic, I've got a national tower you might be interested in buying.
Well, the Raptors did cut a 24 point lead down to five, so it wasn't like it was a laugher all the way through.

Not me. I want the Spurs to repeat this year (I can do without the Pistons, though). I'll take their brand of "boring" defensive basketball any day over a "all offense, all the time" game.

Outside of the Piston's mention there, I agree. To me a blocked shot is more exciting than a 3 pointer, and usually at the point when you've hit 125 the scoring becomes a bore. That said, if you think the Pistons are going out before the conference finals you're sadly mistaken.

I agree; the Pistons will make it through the finals. The only reason I mentioned them is that they seem to be the only team (except for Dallas to a lesser degree) that really give the Spurs trouble, mainly because their styles are so similiar.

If I wanted to watch nothing but highlight dunks and high scores, I'd watch the All-Star game.

Has anyone seen Jason Kidd lately? I think Chris Paul ate him.

To Whom It May Concern:

Please excuse Jason Kidd from the playoffs; he is currently in the process of being schooled.

Regards,

Prof. Chris Paul

I hate the Utah Jazz so much. It's going to crush me to have my team eliminated by them two years in a freaking row.

GODDAMN IT! Where the hell is your professional pride O'Neal? Can you find the fucking basket when you're RIGHT FUCKING UNDER IT? D'Antoni! You know they're going to run the pick and roll. READ A BOOK AND DEVELOP A DEFENSE!!!

ARRRRRGHHH!

FUCK!
I feel your pain Devildoubt as I am a Piston fan.
Damn. The Spurs are some surgical motherfuckers.

That was a helluva Hawks game.

With the Celtics down 2-2 I don't feel quite as bad to be a Piston fan. There are some hungry teams here in the East. Hawks have looked like a team who really want to prove their worth, please keep on working the Celtics over.
I hope Danny Ferry's watching this shit. Sixers and Hawks are on the rise. The Cavs have cap space to sign a very, very good free agent this summer; they better make something happen.
Finally after six months, the Hawks are beginning to play like a team that has a LOT of really good parts going for it.

Whatever happens during the rest of the series, I think that Josh Smith has guaranteed that he is going to get PAID this summer.

It's always perplexing to see a team down 4 or 5 points with two minutes to go start shooting wild threes, and yet it seems to happen all the time. Both Boston and Denver did it tonight.

It'll be especially interesting to see what happens in Denver (and, I presume, Dallas) during the off-season.

In the case of Denver, they will probably trade away their only good defender (Marcus Camby) for a big man that can score, totally giving up on trying to play defense. My guess is that the new gameplan will be to outscore opposing teams 140 to 139 every night.
Please oh please let that Detroit-Philly series go seven games.
I hate Philly teams, but I'm pulling for the Sixers. I don't believe in Detroit like so many do.

If only Diaw had passed the ball to some kind of Sun's "Sixth Man"-type ghost instead of the Spurs bench.

If Boston can't win three games on the road in round one...sheesh...
Horford is the truth.

I don't understand how a poor percentage chucker wins ROY over a guy who averages a double double for the season. Maybe Durant will be better one day, but there is no question that Horford was the better NBA player this year. The kid will be average at least 15-10 next year, that's a top-5 centre these days.

I'm so rooting for Atlanta. This will be payback for Boston tanking games last year to try and get the #1 pick.
Hahahaha

Atlanta SUCKS!

Sorry ATL chewers.
If they suck, what does that say about the Celtics?
The Hawks are embarrassing themselves today but I give them credit for taking the Celtics to a game 7. That's way more than I expected from them in the NBA NIT, I mean the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
I was just poking fun at the outcome of today's game. Atlanta is a decent team (for the East, their record is still worse than my Blazers, who weren't even invited to the fucking playoffs), and everyone is surprised by this series -- but today's game was fun and funny for people rooting for Boston.

Now if someone, anyone can prevent San Antonio and LA from boring themselves into the finals I will be happy.

Go Utah.

They're about to be unwilling participants in the next series of the LeBron James Show?

I was talking about the game yesterday to a buddy of mine, and I was jokingly saying that the Celts would win by 30. I didn't expect to be right. What did happen to the Hawks today? Is the Philips Arena crowd that big a factor?
I liked the Cavs' chances before the Celtics added Cassell and Brown. Not so enthusiastic anymore.
Man, the Lakers are gonna walk through the Jazz.

I'm most interested in the Spurs/Hornets series. Hope that one goes the distance.
