TV Intro's You Still Remember!

A Good TV Intro sets the mood for a show. Preferably with a catchy Theme song accompaning it. There were a lot of great TV Intros in the 80's (e.g Magnum PI, Quantum Leap). But its a dying art right now.

What're your favourite TV Intros?

Here's my pick

For some reason I can rememebr the theme to pretty much every TV show I have ever seen.

Which is great at parties but compleatly useless for anything else.

Here's a show that needs to be remade, don't skimp on the superb intro.

My favorite openers are Star Trek, The A-Team, Glen A Larson's Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers In The 25th Century, and Knight Rider.

X-Files, Battlestar Galactica, and Lost because they don't really have one. I tend to despise the intro.

I was <THIS> close to posting the Buck Rogers one also, mostly because the ultra-hot Connie Sellecca was married to Buck (Gil Gerard) in real life (at the time the shows were on the air).

I can't really link because I'm on a work computer but this thread does not continue without mentioning all of the The Wire intros and the old Homicide: Life on the Street intro.

Also worth mentioning, Sam & Max: Freelance Police and of course FREAKAZOID

This thread is an answer to the timeless question: "Whatever happened to predictability? The milkman, the paperboy, the evening tv?"

What are you talking about? BSG has FOUR! The opening text, then a cold open, then the credits, THEN the "flash forward" montage!

Always loved the opening to the second season of The Munsters -- the thunderous surf rock quitar and Fred Gwynne smashing through the door. Buck Rogers was great, especially for the William Conrad narration. The tijano music filled first season to Simon & Simon.

Batman Beyond.
Mainly because the animated rave sequence always makes me lolol.

One of the things I love about that sequence was that there was no CGI used, that shot of Bruce Wayne's head at the end was done on Bruce Timm's kitchen table with a bust of Wayne's head.

I'll assume, cuz I'm too lazy to click them, one of the links posted goes to the awesome Small Wonder theme.

I think Cheers is probably in the top 10.
Hill Street Blues is definitely in the top ten.
You guys are KILLING me here. Now I'm all jonesing to go out and buy Batman Beyond DVD's to rewatch them.
I'd think FRIENDS would be in the top 10, especially as the seasons progressed.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
A tale of a fateful trip
That started at this tropic port
aboard this tiny ship

The mate was a mighty sailing man
The skipper brave and sure
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour
A three hour tour

You can't even look at the damn words without hearing every note of it in your mind.

MacGyver. The ice cream eating is the best.

And really how could you forget this one?

In the episode where the ice cream eating clip is from, MacGyver throws the half eaten ice cream in the garbage, which infuriated me as a kid. Why would you throw away perfectly good ice cream? I don't care what terrorist you're chasing, you could still take the delicious ice cream with you and eat it on the way.

I don't know why but I always hated the intros where the characters would be doing something and then suddenly look at the camera and smile over their credits.

Why are they watching me?! I should be watching them!?!

Now, someone post Step By Step.
The X-files is the first one that came to mind for me, but that's most likely because it will probably always be my favorite show. The music and the imagery go a long way towards making it memorable (especially the music), and I think it would be hard to argue otherwise whether you're a fan of the show or not.

Love how this one goes from easy-listening to ominous.

RIP John-Erik Hexum.

And because the theme song can still be found rattling in my head 20+ years later, I give you Sectaurs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoZ8K9NxxZ4

I used to love me some Time Trax. I totally forgot about his computer that looked like a woman from Victorian England.

Having grown up with Nick at Nite...

Get Smart, Alfred Hitchcock Presents..., and Gilligan's Island are the intros/themes that still creep back to me once in a while.

As for the more obtuse intros, it begins and ends with this. At least for me.

PMR, The Phoenix, Automan, and The Highwayman were some of the series I watched regularly. It's funny, Judson Scott had no problems with his name being in the credits of The Phoenix, but he had his name removed from Star Trek II Wrath Of Khan. The Highwayman was decent, but I enjoyed Automan alot more.

Cigam Retah, Sledge Hammer is one of my favorite cop series. I thought the show was hilarious and clearly ahead of it's time.
