I give you "Just The Ten of Us". While not a particularly good opening theme, I list it for the following reasons: (1) It features Heather Langenkamp AND Brook Theiss of Elm Street fame; (2) As a sixth grader, I was madly in love with Brook Theiss and Jamie Luner (the red head); (3) I just remembered it while posting in the "You Got It All Wrong Thread"; and (4) The show was freakin' spun off of "Growing Pains".

The Highwayman was decent, but I enjoyed Automan alot more.

Cigam Retah, Sledge Hammer is one of my favorite cop series. I thought the show was hilarious and clearly ahead of it's time.
It's like I'm Schwarzenegger and you're DeVito.

PMR, Just like in Twins...but without Kelly Preston and Chloe Webb.

It's no secret that television show openings nowadays suck. While they've been traveling shitwise for sometime, it's seem to me that now the networks have just surrendered to the idea that the folks in this country are ADD-addled morons (a diagnosis I'm not inclined to disagree with). Not to mention the sheer obvious way they attempt to(and succeed at) stringing folks from one idiot show to the next. When you have to run the credits for the next show under the already preposterously truncated 'opening' of the next show, you know the culture is in trouble.

Since most of the submissions above are not identified (and ultimately go to deleted videos), I'll throw out this one.

As a tyke, when not loyally tuning in for Batman, Emergency! or Petticoat Junction, nothing could enrapture me more than this funky-ass run with The Mod Squad.

That's how you open a show.

Nice. Somewhere I have what I think is Neil Norman and his band doing a roof-raising rendition of that. Transcendental!

I always thought the old intro to Mystery! on PBS was pretty stylish and spooky. Used hand drawn animation

Cool little sequence!

Like the guy who posted the video, I too used to watch it with my mom growing up. Inspector Morse was the best of the bunch.

Pro Stars (cartoon)

The Cosby Show had some legendary intros

I don't know if this is in one of the dead links but:

All the dead links make this thread somewhat fascinating. What could they have been?!

All I know is that if one of them wasn't this song, I just don't understand you people.

ETA: And while I understand this is more about the intro than the song, I'm of the opinion that this song's awesomeness overpowers it's real lack of intro. But...if we take this clip specifically, Shandling staring at fake fish works just fine for me.

More in tune with the original idea of the thread then is totally the Darkwing Duck intro. The song's great on its own, but I really like how they put some effort into syncing the clips up to the music. There's some real style here. Bonus points go to the Swedish version, though, which make the theme just ridiculously awesome. Have a listen:

(Honestly, this whole thread could be early 90s Disney cartoons)

Co-sign on the 90's Disney Cartoon intro love. Tale Spin, Rescue Rangers, and Duck Tales were also top notch and the intros never got old. Gonna do some youtube diggin for a nostalgia trip tonight.
