Venture Bros. Season 3

June 1st can't get here soon enough.

Here's a sneak peak courtesy of the NY Comic Con from this weekend. Kinda hard to hear (since people are laughing over it) but you see/hear enough to know it's going to continue to be incredible.

The parody of the GI Joe opening sequence is my personal favorite. Better than the entire live action movie will be, I'm sure....

That is fucking awesome. Thanks for the share. Get here already, June.

I've got Jackson Publick's livejournal on my 'friends' list. He updates with character designs and news every two or three weeks. Sounds like they're really down to the wire, and things may be held back...

I think things have been helped back. They originally thought the episodes would be ready by this Spring, not the summer. The good news is that they're doing seasons 3 and 4 back to back now that they know the show is popular...

Finally! Awesome news!
I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Damn you lack of flash and speakers. Damn you to hell!
My day was just made. Thank you.

Can't get enough of the G.I. Joe parody.
I was at that panel, and lemme tell ya... that clip was AWESOME. The cheer when Hunter Gathers showed up is not done justice by the video. The Q&A portion was pretty fun too, all the guys were pretty loose and fun. It was like the DVD commentaries.

June 1st cannot get here fast enough.
No shark jumping there. Beautiful.
Yes! More Dr. Henry Killinger and his magic murder bag.
"The Nozzle..."

That had me stifling laughter here at my desk.
Lordy, that Joe bit was amazing. THANK YOU.
Can't wait for this.
I was in tears on "the nozzel.." bit.

Can't Friggen Wait

I just came across this, it's Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer doing Christmas songs as various Venture Bros. characters.

My favorite one is The Monarch & Dr. Girlfriend as David Bowie and Bing Crosby doing "Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy".
Quickstop has downloadable versions of the Season 3 preview up on the site now. I suggest getting it. It's awesome.
Why is it not June yet? Yeah, my position at work may be coming to an end that month, but god damn it...at least I would have new Venture Bros. Great new Venture Bros. from the look of it.

I just have to echo all the love for that G.I. Joe parody. That was fried gold, that was.
Thanks for the link, Nicholas, I could barely make anything out in that other one.

I need season 2 on dvd...
I can't believe D.A.R.Y.L. was just homaged. Goddamn!
So the new episode premieres tonight on the Adult Swim website, and then Sunday Night on the idiot box. I have a bad feeling that the next eight hours or so are going to go by very slowly.
There's an interview with Publick over at The A.V. Club

Also, I'm pretty sure this isn't completely accurate:

You know, people - life is funny.

I spent 2 hrs yesterday in the projection booth putting together a crap movie in which ancient cougars fuck and screw everything that moves for 2 1/2 hrs.

Venture Bros. Season 3 is my reward for having to suffer through that. Will be drunk as hell watching this on Sunday night.
The first episode of Season 3 is up on Adultswim.com!

The special opening for this episode is great! It's a great story for a continuity junkie like myself, however it did feel a little short on laughs.

Did anyone join the T-Shirt club? I don't really have the money for it.
Great episode. These guys have not lost a step.

No, but I figure I'll order a shirt or two. The 14th subscriber bonus shirt is pretty sweet, and I'm sure it'll fetch $$$ on electronicBay someday, but it's not one that really called to me. I DO like that first Guild shirt, even though I'm not really fan of black garments.

I need to finish rewatching S2 on DVD tonight, I think, and then dive into S3.
Good season opener.

"So were not gonna have to sit through hours of me abusing myself to Markie Post?"

"Even Joesph and his amazing Technicolor nightmare coat."

"Did that video have a wipe?"
I'm infatuated with how the writers drop in little seeds that later become major plot points.

Monarch to the Guild: "Yeah, how DID Daddy Venture die any way? Surely you guys know!" And no answer from the Guild.

Or Monarch's line about waiting for his trust fund money to come out of escrow.

Hell, even #24 calling his dad by his first name instead of just saying "dad".

Also:

"You never get off the Phantom Limb's shit list... MANOTAUR!!!"
Amazing. There weren't a lot of laugh out loud moments, but I'm very impressed with how the story and canvas gets bigger and bigger. I love the continuity and I don't usually care about that shit. I've been watching the older episodes recently and the first season seems very week in comparison to what it's become. Publick/Hammer are growing as storytellers.
Pretty good stuff...
I watched it online this morning. Continued greatness, but I agree that it wasn't as LOL-packed as some of last season. A good start, though. I really enjoyed the list of other villains, especially the aforementioned Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor NIGHTMARE Coat.

So what DID Dr. G tell him in the escape pod?
They haven't reveal what she said just yet.
There weren't a lot of LOL moments, it's true, but that was fantastic storytelling, which is why Venture Bros is the best thing that's ever come out of adult swim. I mean, who starts their third season with a clip show? And who fills a clip show with all new information? And what kind of season opener doesn't feature any of the main protagonists? Genius!
I laughed my balls off at Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor NIGHTMARE Coat.

Great to have this show back. I liked the first season enough to watch the second and loved that season. Hopefully it just gets better and better.
"The murderous Betty Rage!"

That had me cracking up.

Also the in-joke about the music and how they changed it because it costs too much.
Also, unrelated, but Metalocalypse just parodied Fitzcarrlado. It's a good night.
"Wears an awful lot of purple for a white guy" is begging to be used with a Heath Ledger Joker avatar, if you're into that sort of thing.

Yes, yes it has.

Also, 24 hoping the moppets "pull a double-Villechaize." I totally missed that reference on Friday.

I am that sucker!

I'm going to be the proud owner of 14 shirts that reference something nobody gets...

EXCEPT COOL PEOPLE!

Another great episode. These guys are on such a roll, I'm going to be terribly disappointed whenever they finally misfire for a week. Without the Venture Brothers, I think my DVR might rust during this summer.

Hard to top the season 2 opener, but this was nice. I liked how there was no mention of anyone from the Venture compound aside from Brock.

Quick question: Was the epilogue last night supposed to be another flashback, or was that supposed to reveal to us that Phantom Limb is still a threat?
I watched this at lunch and no I didn't laugh as I normally do, but damn this show is good.

can't wait to see where this season is headed.
Yet another interview with Publick.

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertain...ncharted_.html

I'm not thrilled with the news that season 4 might be it for the show.

I think to ram home the point the Phantom Limb is still out there...and that you never retire from his shit list.

He looked older, crazed and disheveled, so I'm guessing the later.

Season 4's the end? Bummer...

Not only does it mean that phantom limb is still out there, it also shows he was too dense to recognize his own henchman and the Monarch was in fact guilty.

So if season 4 is the end...what about a movie. If aqua teen can have a feature film...(of course aqua teen probably cost 2 bucks to make, but whatever).

"Night Court was huge at the time..."

"Wait, was that a wipe?"
"Yes Council Member 10 (? I think) got Adobe Premier..."

Man, I don't know what you guys are talking about not having laughs, this was another fucking brilliant episode. I guess there weren't the big massive gags to elicit laughs, but watching how the episode came together was like watching comedic artistry.
I love Dr. Girlfriend's reasoning that there is no way Phantom Limb would be dumb enough to not recognize his own henchman, and THEN be dumb enough to not realize that said henchman is the Monarch.

Even though she did the same EXACT thing, and married the guy.

And I have completely fallen in love with the way the Limb delivers that "MANOTAUR!" line. Priceless.
