Venture Bros. Season 3 - Page 3

I think I may get the Dr. Henry Killinger shirt.
Most of me doesn't really want it, but there's a part of me that thinks I'll regret not getting it. And I am in dire need of new t-shirts. I almost wish I'd shelled out for the whole subscription when I had the chance, just so I wouldn't have to make the decision every week.
I whole hartedly support Killinger, dunno if I'd get the shirt though. But it was great to see the black magic murder bag use it's powers to kill. You know, like you think it would.
Great episode. I'm wondering what will happen to save the compound?
haven't watched the episode...yet...but I will pass on the Killinger shirt.
That was a pretty great episode. The montage of Killinger improving everything was pretty great.

Still...no shirt...
Remember when buying the shirts that they are American Apparel t-shirts and will hug.
I got a bit of a beer gut, so what I gotta get a XXL?
While I wouldn't blow money on the t-shirt, I would gladly pay for the skull sandals killinger sports...

Seeing how it's American Apparel, then yes. I could wear a small but you've got to have serious manorexia to pull it off. You know not eat and do a lot of drugs.

Some asshole posted this on Poland's blog today:

"Stumbling in the dark is one thing, but they don't have a clue? Smacks of divine intervention, or a nonchalance on the part of the creative crew.

I detected the same vibe when I was listening to the commentary track on the Venture Bros DVD, when one of the creators mentioned the mystery over who the mother of the boys might be. Then they both laughed, snorting "Who cares?" Well, uh, some of us do. We care that there's an elephant standing in the middle of the room and you don't seem interested in even acknowledging its existence.

So I dropped the Venture Bros like a bad habit as a result of that insult."

That is the strangest reasoning...
The guys an idiot. I don't even recall them really ever talking about the show on the commentaries, except the one time they talked about which characters they would bang. I love the off topic commentaries.

To think what he would do if he found they don't plan doing anything with Baron Ünderbheit again.

But...there's an elephant...in the room! And you're ignoring him!
The only elephants I see are the pink ones due to alcoholism.

Doc Venture did say he fucked her, what more do you to know. Hank obviously gets his crazy from her etc, etc, Star Wars reference.
Speaking of Star Wars references, I could've sworn that they said they weren't going to use any in Season 3, and yet they had the 'only what you take with you' bit in this episode.
Well, they said it wouldn't be as prevalent as it was in previous seasons.
They did say no more Star Wars references. Jackson Publick apologized on his livejournal for putting that one in, and said that Doc Hammer has one in an upcoming episode, BUT THAT'S IT.

Which, considering how many are in every other episode, is actually a much better ratio than in the past.

The shows not fucking Lost. Jesus Christ.

Also, for a goof ball pop culture parody comedy, the character development and writing is magnificent. What more could you ask for from a show like this? Do you really need everything spelled out for you? People are dumb...

Between episode 2 and 3 they pretty much answer who the mother is.
Holy shit...FANTASTIC episode this week. The undergroud quiz shows, the interaction between Hunter and Brock, G.I. Joe as the Village People, YO.S.I!, the nozzle, Billy's touching song, the montage at the end, the surprise cameo from Dr. Girlfriend...amazing stuff. I know we're only three episodes in, but man, this one is going to be tough to beat in my opinion. This may be my favorite episode of the entire series. The character development here was incredible, and so many lingering questions get answered. Great stuff.
I have a feeling that a big chunk of this season is going to be covering backstories and origins, and I don't have a problem with that at all, because apparently the genuine reasons behind things are a hell of a lot crazier than I would have thought. I loved the brief Race Bannon cameo, and I think the OSI guy who reassigns Brock at the end of the episode is Sargeant Hatred.
I'm with you guys on this. Lighter on the funny this week, (to me anyway) but I like that all the wacky shit that goes down in modern day has basis in a kind of bizarre in-show history. It's not just a random assortment of gags and shock humor.

There's a certain sad, pathetic nature to all the characters that make the humor feel much more well-earned.

To be fair, I think they said something like "95% fewer Star Wars references," which should allow for a few.

Just watched episodes 2 and 3 this afternoon, and enjoyed both. I like Killinger's appearances, but I'm passing on the shirt, as well. They claim on the website that shirt #3 is more colorful. I'm betting on maybe that Quizboy logo that shows up on White's jacket several times throughout the episode. That would be nicely obscure.

The GI Joe/OSI intro was even more glorious in its entirety with all the music and everything. YO.S.I!
Maybe the next shirt is an O.S.I. one, that would be awesome.

That was my other best guess-- blue with white ringers or something. We'll find out in, what, four hours?

I've been spending the last week watching all of the season 1 and 2 episodes that I've missed and the first 2 of season three.

I've got a few questions:

1. What did Dr. Girlfriend reveal to the Monarch? Was it that she contacted the Guild about being a duo?

2. I saw earlier in the thread that the mother of Hank and Dean were revealed. I've watched all of them and I can't find it. I know that they have been cloned numerous times but they were BORN from a mother, right?

3. The Guild. Is this an organization of both heroes and their arch villains? Because I can't imagine Truckules being a bad guy.

4. The whole thing with Rusty Venture's brother JJ, the image of JJ strangling Rusty in the womb: that was meant to make the audience believe that Dr. Venture and The Monarch were brothers, right? I mean, before it was revealed that it was actually JJ. Is that why The Monarch hates Dr. Venture so much?

Yes.

Season 2. Episode: "I Know Why The Caged Bird Kills." Myra AKA Shadowcat. Make sure you watch the post credit cookie.

They're villains. But what we're finding out about the show is that there are lots of different kinds of villains. Honorable, and less honorable (like Phantom Limb). I mean, it's called the Guild of Calamitous Intent. Pretty straightforward.

What? Why do you go from JJ to The Monarch? They're not brothers. Nothing in the show suggests that.
To be fair, it's not CONFIRMED that Myra is their mother. They played very coy with it, yeah. But just because Doc and her did the deed doesn't mean she got knocked up. Brock and he both say she's not the mother, so...

And there's always been speculation that the Monarch and Doc Venture are somehow related. Nothing confirmed or denied within the show, yeah, but if you're looking for it, the hints are there.
I enjoyed Billy and White going around the country raising cash by attending hardcore underground quiz shows.
G.I.Joe as The Village People is so awesomely perfect that it's amazing nobody's ever done it before.

Well, Dr Venture and The Monarch look almost EXACTLY alike, aside from The Monarch's eyebrows. That could just be the animators' style but I was convinced that The Monarch was the strangling twin before it was revealed to be JJ.
Yeah, but it ended up being Dr. Venture who was strangling JJ.
Any episode with a Hunter S Thompson...er, Hunter Gathers appearance is fine by me..."I wish I was born with big beautiful tits!"
"....Also known as pussy face"
I called it on the new shirt. Behold the purple glory of the Master Billy Quizboy shirt.

Another pass, I think.
Yeah, I'm not one for wearing purple.

Also, why are Dr. Girlfriend's eyes green?

Shit, shriveled up baby arms.

Edit: You know what I just noticed, the explosion from Shadowman 9 with the Monarch is the Phantom Limb explosion.
So good. This season is not very funny but the places their taken the story and characters are really clever and flesh out the universe of the show. I love this shit.
I really don't have a problem if every other episode is origin stories. I've been pondering just how certain things, peoples and places came together in this show for so long that finally getting the answers is a blast.

This week's ep was great, because at one point, I remembered someone asking Billy how he got the mechanical hand and he answered "Gee, I don't know!"
"The Village People called and told you to fucking kill yourself!"

This episode was AWESOME.
It's getting hard to avoid this thread on Fridays when the episodes premier on the web. I'm really shocked at how well written these early episodes are in terms of mythology. I love mythology so much.
Is it me or is the theme of this season redeption. Dr Venture turns down a chance for money fame and to get rid of his brother but dose the right thing.
Monarch isnt such a bastard in his episode. White feels bad for screwing up Billy's life. While he tried to better only fucked it up worse
post #146 of 651
Pretty great episode. Loved all the stuff with Brock and Gathers. The OSI opening and Billy losing his hand in a dog fight.

And yeah, I've got no problem with purple shirts (I'm a Rockies fan if you can't tell by my avatar)but that shirt is ugly. Pass.

That was almost like a "LOST" episode in terms of background info and history.
What origin do you think they will reveal next? Brock's first day as Rusty's body guard? Perhaps Myra's first day as Rusty's body guard? The original Order of the Triad?

One thing I'm still hoping will play out is Triana's friend Kim becoming a super villain.

And I too am digging the mythology.

The Henchmen, they've GOT to focus at least one episode on them. A Dr. Orpheus origin would be pretty sweet too.

Really, any episode heavy on the Monarch, Henchmen, Brock or Orpheus is a surefire winner in my book.
what is the chance that Myra is also Triana's mother?
