Venture Bros. Season 3 - Page 2

The SILENCE!!! bit was pretty similar to a bit in Futurama, but still very entertaining.

I just rewatched Seasons 1 & 2 and I'm incredibly excited to see where things go this season with the Monarch.

im in that process right now too. Man once they introduce Orpheus in season 1, the consistent high quality is really much more impressive when watched on DVD format.
Yeah quality has always been good, and now they've switched over to letter boxing the whole show instead of just doing the cold open. Which was kinda weird watching it on Sunday like that, I've been so used to seeing it full screen.

What was that music in the final montage? It sounds so familiar.
part of Holst's "Jupiter" from The Planets

Great season opener. The Monarch, Brock, and Orpheus are my favorite characters.
I enjoyed the opener, but I wanna see, you know, the Venture Brothers.
Eh. Dr. Venture's an asshole, the kids are morons, and Brock's the only one that oozes cool. I love all the ancillary characters, but the Ventures are just catalysts for the story.
The Monarch is the best character in the show. The prison episode from Season 2 was fucking gold.

The new episode was fucking fantastic.

Bollocks. They're as funny as anything else on the show.

Neener.

Eh, they opened season 2 with no Venture Bros. until the very end. I'm guessing we'll be getting to them next week. This episode was there to resolve the cliffhanger.

I second this. I point to the marriage to Baron Underbheit episode for evidence.
Hank as "The Bat" cracks me up every time.
"Are you ok Hank?"
(Covered in blood, impaled on his own spear)"Yeah, I cut my tongue on my mask"

They really didn't resolve the cliffhanger though. We are still wondering what Dr. Girlfriend told the Monarch......

SAMSON KODOKAN BLOOD JUDO!
Too bad you can only get that shirt after shelling out $250 for a subscription.
The Guild shirt is also pretty nice.

The Guild Shirt is Awesome.
It is. It really is.

While I don't hate the Venture brothers, I do find them to be the least comedic characters on the show. I agree that the're more of a catalyst for the plotlines, hence less time is devoted to their characters than most of the supporting characters (which really make the show as brilliant as it is!)

The Monarch is hands down the most hysterical character on the show (and perhaps on any show), with Orpheus and Sampson closing in right behind him. I'm astounded at how great this show is and how it keeps getting better. It saddens me to think that season 4 will be the last, but I suppose it's better to call it quits before the show runs out of steam which is something some other shows can't seem to manage (Simpsons, I'm looking at you!).

Thanks for the heads up on the t-shirt club. While I can no longer wear t-shirts to work, there's absolutely no way I could deny this one. The Guild shirt is worth the price of admission alone!
Was it just me or could you see Phantom Limb's arm in the sleeve during the epilogue?
Guild shirt = bought! I haven't had a really nerdy t-shirt in awhile, and this will do nicely.
Nuts, and I just bought my polk high t-shirt and two shirts at the GAP. Oh well.
I'm torn on weather to get the Guild t-shirt...or wait and see what comes up next week.

Don't you dare show up to the next LA Chewer gathering wearing the same thing as me!

Nah, I'll probably wear it to the gym where it will get absolute zero recognition.
I love a few little things. Like the blonde streak in Dr. Girlfriend's hair during the picnic scene and Dr. Venture being referred to as T.S. Venture in college.
I just enjoyed the variations on Monarch's costume. Not to mention Truckules keeps showing up.
This week show is great I love DR Killinger, and his magic murder bag.
I want to see more of the Murderous Moppets.
I bought the damned shirt...but there is no way I'll be able to keep up with this once a week thing.

I think that may have been a robotic arm. He did lose a few limbs in the finale.
Don't forget his penis.
Of course, the Alchemist ran off with that thing. Do you think that too has become robotic?
That would complete the character. Though the threat to Dr. Girlfriend might be a little too frightning to be funny.

I thought we could assume she told him that she applied for duel arching or whatever...
I just got done watching the new episode, you gotta love Dr. Henry Killinger and his Magic Murder Bag.

Manosaur!

"You have Puerto Rican Department?"

"Your powers are useless on me you silly Billy."

"Shaking them like a nanny possessed!"

That part about the music in the video in the first episode.

"Einar was down to sign off, but Bjork's lawyers wouldn't budge."

Missed it the first time.

No, we aren't.

The entire first episode of the season was dealing with the reprercussions of what she told him.

They better have not just killed Dr.Orpheus.

That said, I love what they're doing with Dr. Henry Killinger...

It was before the first commercial break, when he was bleeding out of his nose.

I was briefly concerned.
oh ok, I forgot what time it was and thus didn't realize that you might still be in the middle of watching it on tv (I caught it on adultswim.com). you had me confused and more than a little worried for a minute there.
Man, I'm impressed with where this episode went, story-wise. Having Dr. Venture faced with the choice of becoming a super villain (and by the looks of things, he'd be much better off) but deciding not to go down that path is just such a great little character arc.

These guys are good. This show is not just funny, but a well-written story in general.

Yeah, that was a great episode. I'm actually kinda surprised Rusty didn't sign the contract. Not that I think it's out of character for him not to, but it's nice to finally see him recognize how much of a dick he can be...and how close he came to being a super villain.

These guys just keep getting better and better.
I can't believe I didn't see where that was going. I'm actually a teeny tiny bit dissapointed we won't get to see Dr. Venture trying to be a villain for a couple episodes. This character building stuff is so great.
I was actually hoping he'd become a supervillain - it seemed like a huge source of hilarity. The kids are so impressionable, they turn into bumbling henchmen in an instant, and Brock would probably at least briefly enjoy being able to rack up a larger body count. And the Monarch realizing he could/would have to turn good to be able to legitimately fight Venture would be awesome.

Still, all this season needs now is a heavy dose of Brock and it'll be running on all cylinders. The rest of Adult Swim's shaky lineup (I'm being generous) should be ashamed!
I still like Metalocaplypse, and think Squidbillies is getting better. Boondocks and Frisky Dingo are also great, but over for now.
It was good, I loved Venture trying to get Mexican day laborers to work for him.

Also, I thought the Metalocalypse episode that played afterwards was pretty fucking funny.

Pickles with Chinese ambassadors and dead strippers.

I wish Korgoth of Barbaria would come back
post #100 of 651
I want to be a Venchman.

Great episode, and I, too, am a bit disappointed that we won't see Rusty try his hand as a bad guy for an episode or two. Think of the possibilities...
