No, I'm not being sarcastic. I bought an HD-DVD player via Best Buy for Business' website during the $98 sale a few months back. Being that the "war" is over, I got a letter from Best Buy late last week. Basically, the gist of the letter was:
"We understand that you look to us to be your guide to emerging technologies (uh, not really), and since we see you bought an HD-DVD player and Blu-Ray is the predominant format winner, we want to make it up to you. So enclosed is a $50 gift card for Best Buy to buy anything you want."
So I used my gift card this weekend and bought a wireless keyboard/mouse combo that was open box and on sale for $49.99 (listed on Logitech's site for $150). Hooked it up this weekend and am enjoying it. I thought that was a somewhat nice thing to do. Yes, they're essentially paying people to come into the store and they're hoping I spend more than the $50, but to me, I essentially received a 1/2 coupon for the player I had gotten.
