I hadn't heard about this one, but based on that review, I'm going to have to check it out. Sounds like it has some promise.

Having not seen this one yet (been waiting on the DVD release since I first heard of it), I still have to say that the French are doing great things with the horror genre right now. It's really a shame that Americans (most of us anyway) are unable to experience these films with an audience, though.

You're right on the money, Alex. The characters are paper thin, especially the husband, but the atmosphere and scares are top notch. I have to say, though, that the final chase scenes were a step down from the scenes in the house. I was more infuriated than exhilarated. Up until then she was behaving quite realistically, for a horror movie, only to suddenly turn into an idiot. But everyone should give it a try. It's one of the better horror movies of the last years.

Also- HUGE FUCKING SPOILERS - Stay away! it makes for a more disturbing time when you realize what the state of Romania nowadays. See Children Underground before this and the ending has a lot more meaning.

Quite liked this one myself. Shallow, but entertaining enough, and with some nice tension.

The first 10 minutes need to be taught in film class on how to thrill an audience. VERY tense. Outside of Olivia Bonamy's ass, that was the best part of the movie.

I thought this was a well paced and tense little gem, I wasn't bowled over by it tho, but in the wake of such sumptuous Gallic dishes as Haute Tension and Inside, perhaps I am being unfair by comparing it to them.... 'Them' was quite tasty butthey were served with a kick and loadsa sauce!!
