I apologize if there was already a thread, but I couldn't find it.

The word is out among the NBC brass: As rumored and bounced around for some time, Jimmy Fallon is set to take Conan O’Brien’s job as host of "Late Night" in 2009. It’s a done deal.
*facepalm

Honestly. Craig Ferguson is going to be happier than shit when he hears this.

Good point.

I was so looking forward to Fallon drifting harmlessly into oblivion.

Instead we are only going to be witnessing a clusterfuck on par with the Chevy Chase show.

Now he'll just supernova spectacularly into oblivion.

Kinda sad they go from Letterman to Conan to Fallon. But if it keeps him out of making shitty movies then I guess there's a plus to it.

I will never forgive Fallon for bringing a stain upon the otherwise perfect cowbell sketch. "C'mon Gene! *giggle* Stop being *giggle* so selfish!" Fuck you, Fallon.

But he had such a promising film career. Hopefully, they can wrap filming on Taxi 2 before the move.

I want it on the record that I made the first "Jimmy Failin'" joke pre-emptively for when he gets cancelled within two months.

Noted....

It's not him getting the job that disturbs me. I can always watch something else altogether and ignore. The problem will come when he resorts to breaking out his guitar and singing songs, prompting NBC/Universal to viral video that shit, causing everyone I know who doesn't have a sense of humor to declare it brilliant and sing it nonstop.

This has been rumored as "a done deal" for a while now. There was even another thread about it with the same comments. Don't expect anything until the full NBC announcement, or the upfronts.

So, Fallon wasn't that bad. And Conan is getting worse each show.

Yeah, Fallon actually can hold himself together for his show, and I'm usually laughing at the craziness of his stuff, though his monologue's kind of stiff. I haven't watched that much of Conan lately on Late Night, but I can't remember being more bored by something he's done than when he shot Christmas ornaments onto a tree with catapults. Sounds like an awesome idea, but no.

I've been watching the guy pretty regularly the past couple of months (dude has the BEST musical guests of any late night/variety show that I can think of) and his monologues are the ONLY things that don't work. He has started to hone his interviewing skills to where he can just set up guests and allow them to be funny; his interactions with ?uestlove and the rest of The Roots are often hilarious and even his few sketches/segments that miss are KINDA funny. Given a year or two, this show might be the best thing on late nights.

Can't believe I said that because I used to HATE Fallon.

Julian Casablancas performing "I Wish It Was Christmas Today" with Fallon, Sanz and The Roots was one of my favorite moments on television last year.
