Slater as Dolan? No. No no no.

Seems like for a long time this was supposed to be with Kevin Bacon and Stallone. That could have been good.

Man, Wes Bentley, this is the most promising thing you've been associated with since American Beauty. And that, my friend, is not a good sign.

It's been a long time since I've read the short story, but it seems like its entire premise could be filmed in roughly seven minutes. Gonna be a lot of stretching this one out.

Noooooooo..... One of my favorite King stories ever, and they picked Slater and Bentley? Are they fucking kidding? My fantasy casting would have been William H. Macy as the widowed husband and maybe James Caan reprising another King role to play Dolan. But they have to be fucking kidding with this.

See? This is why I always have issues with the way they handle King books being translated into movies. It tends to be a real crapshoot.

Yeah, I loved this story and would have never have had imagined this cast. Couldn't we have gotten at least one actor with some gravitas in this?

I still can't believe they're even adapting this. All due respect to Lisa, but this was far from his best work. There's lots of unmined gold of his out there to be filmed yet that should get adapted before this story, if you ask me. And like ratty said, this could probably be filmed in seven minutes, and will require a LOT of stretching out to fill feature length. I think that's where a lot of king adaptations go wrong. They work as short stories partly because the shortness makes them seem brutal and shocking; like they're saying: "BAM!" There it is! and just laying the horrifying premise out there starkly and bluntly. Unlike his novels, which thrive on the characters' back stories, King's short stories are like good comedy: brevity is the soul of their wit. None of which explains, however, why adaptatiojns of his novels, which have a lot more time to delve into backstory and much more to work with as far as filling in the time of a ful length feature goes also tend, more often than not, to suck. But that's another thread.

This story is barely a Tales From The Crypt episode, let alone a full-length movie.

As for unmined King gold, I think an awesome movie could be made from "The Ten O'Clock People" story.

I hope this shows up in Nick's "List of Dumb".

I admit this would make a great "Crypt" episode, but the casting is just retarded.

I really liked the short story.

Well, that's true, Iggy, that it's far from his best work. It is one of my favorite of his shorts though, and I like the idea of it being done - but being done right, that's my main objection. Two of his full length novels I'd love to see done, whether before or after this one, would be Rose Madder and Bag of Bones. But Dolan's Cadillac was one of the ones I would have loved to have seen in his Nightmare and Dreamscapes mini-series from a couple of years back.

Dolan's Cadillac would have been better than some of the ones that actually ended up being made into "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" episodes. And yeah, the getting done right part is so hard to come by in his adaptations. The following are names that, IMO, should never be associated with a Stephen King adaptation, but (unfortunately) have been: John Ritter, Harry Anderson, Molly fucking Ringwald. His two best novels, two of the worst adaptations (Maximum Overdrive probably edges them both out by a whisker). How about "The Jaunt" or "The Monkey" as a couple shorts? Or adapting "The Long Walk" as a feature length film?

I'd like to see this story with this cast as part of a four or five part King anthology, Cat's Eye style. As a stand alone movie? Fuck off with that shit.
