Scott Pilgrim - Page 2

Well I finished Volume 4. I'm all caught up, and have to wait until next year like all you schlubs. SAD!!!!

Wait! I can read that full color book I got a comic-con!

+1000 EXP!!!!
Just finished Vol. 1 and 2 & 3 are in the mail. Guess I'll be one of the sad many chomping at the bit by Feb.

I'm already salivating at the thought of Winstead playing Ramona.
Someone told me that the script for the movie leaked. Does anyone have a copy? I've searched around, but can't find it.

The Way of a Scott Pilgrim

Love this book. Hillarious, and refreshing considering Oni's output hasn't been the most impressive lately. My introduction to the company included Barry Ween, Blue Monday, Hopeless Savages and Courtney Crumrin, then...nothing. Maybe I'm just out of touch with the indy comic scene.

Anyone get a Scott Pilgrim vibe from the trailer for Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist? Hopefully no one's mentioned that yet.

That's funny. I was actually going to post the same thing yesterday. I definitely got a trying to be like Scott Pilgrim vibe from the trailer (minus of course the video game/manga influences) which is even odder since Michael Cera is playing Scott Pilgrim. His character Nick is in a band. There's a gay guy. Nick seems to be a nerdy hipster type. Still pines for his ex-girlfriend. Norah seems Ramona-y, minus the hair. She seems to have a tough ex-boyfriend who Nick maybe fights. Yes, very Scott Pilgrim-y indeed.

Bedrock City called, and my copies of Volume 3 and 4 just showed up. Something just feels right about special ordering a comic and picking it up, rather than just ordering it on Amazon.
Something feels more right to me about not having to pay tax or waste gas by driving to a store where they probably charge more than Amazon does.

I bought Volumes 2, 3, and 4 from the Oni booth at Comic-con though.

I was watching High Fidelity the other day, and the whole time I kept thinking of Scot Pilgrim.
Perhaps, but I never thought of Scott as a record store owner with asshole clerks working for him.

Anyone know where to find "Free Scott Pilgrim" online? It used to be up in its entirety on Newsarama, but since they changed their site it's gone.

I saw the trailer for that. I kept thinking that movie is more like a Gen Y After Hours.
After Hours was the other point of reference in my head when seeing the trailer.

Looks more like Mystery Date to me. Hopefully better.

Read the first three volumes in the past couple of days and am getting ready to start 4. At first, reading, I was apprehensive about Cera's casting, despite my love for both him and Edgar Wright, but the new Nick & Norah review from Devin seems to be pretty positive. But besides all that, these are great little stories and worthy of the praise heaped on them by the press. good stuff.
rating : awesome.

I will continue my Pilgrim whoredom:

Quote:
Amazon has a page for Scott Pilgrim 5, and some solicitation text that I wrote a couple weeks ago...

SCOTT PILGRIM, VOLUME 5: SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE UNIVERSE
Scott Pilgrim just turned 24, and things couldn't possibly be better! This means things are about to get infinitely worse. Suddenly, TWO of Ramona's evil ex-boyfriends are in town, and they're playing dirty. His band is in turmoil, and his own exes aren't making things any easier. And what's up with Ramona, anyway? She's been acting kinda weird ever since they moved in together. It's the SECOND LAST VOLUME of SCOTT PILGRIM: Scott's precious little life is coming back around to bite him in the butt, and it may not be pretty!

Waiting for things is such a bummer. = /

I only just found out this thread existed, but at least I came pre-armed with the avatar.

This is the same situation I found myself in with Harry Potter. I didn't discover either until four books were out, got a nice whirlwind reading run, and then had to wait with the rest of the schlubs. I hate waiting.

Did that say second to last? I was counting on seven, one for each evil ex. Throwing two in one book is dirty pool, O'Malley.
I did the same things with Potter, but even though I read every book in the series, I wasn't really filled with anticipation for each subsequent book. Not so with Pilgrim.

And yes, there will be 6 books total. Book 5 covers twins, right? So thats your two in one, I think.

Same boat. I just read 1-4 in the last month and now . . . crickets and thumb-twiddling.

I also can't imagine any director more suited for this series than Edgar Wright.
they're quite breezy, I may end up re-reading them before 5 drops.

It's not really dirty pool, seeing as how it's been intended to be a six volume series, and they've set it up that there are twins, who it would stand to reason would attack Scott together.

they being he. ^_^

Where would I have heard that it was a six volume series? It wasn't in the books. I didn't exactly do research. I just read the things.
it is your avatar, perhaps he just assumed you did a little further digging into the series beyond the initial reads.
After watching Spaced. Pilgrim is it's Canadian/Video Game soaked cousin. Edgar Wright is the one who is suited for it.

That was like a REAL WORLD ad. Ridiculous.
I thought it was alright, I went and watched some other stuff. I remembered why I gave up on Newgrounds so many years ago. If I wanted to see dick shots I can go to porn, thank you very much.

lets read it!

New cover image is up.

And from his site:

Quote:
I re-drew the cover image for Vs The Universe a little while back and have been waiting until solicits to show it off. I guess it hit Previews this week (that's the catalogue where comic stores order their stuff), so here it is. FINAL.

There is still one special thing about the cover that I can't tell you, and some special things about the release that are being worked out.

Meanwhile, I will make best efforts to finish the insides of the damn thing.
I think I like the first one better, but this is pretty awesome.
For reference sake:

Old

New
I like the first design better but O'Malley could draw a giant floppy cock on the cover and I'd still buy the book the second it came out (although I would be slightly puzzled at the bold new direction of the series).
Any love for Malley's Lost at Sea while we wait for the latest Pilgrimm?I thought that was a very beautiful and touching story.

(I can't get enough of Onipress.Scott Morse's "Soulwind" is possibly my favourite story that they've published, sublime.)
I've finally succumbed to the Scott Pilgrim love. Picked up the first volume a couple months back, and subsequently bought two and three shortly thereafter. My copy of volume four shipped out last week, along with a Christmas present for one of my buddies, who is getting volumes two through four.

Whoever said that this is the Canadian Spaced is dead on. Just great stuff, and I can't wait for the movie.
Maybe I'm being a bit dense, but is that, like, Dark Ramona on the cover? That can't be good for our hero. And, yeah, I think I prefer the original cover.
It's the Pheonix Ramona.
She's got her hand in the shape of a gun!............there will be blood and hopefully many "pop,POP" sound effects
post #92 of 426
maybe we're in store for some Ramona flashback action, I mean, she is from NY after all. Rough city. haha

Scott Pilgrim vs The Universe is all done and handed in and should be in stores Feb 4th or so. I am now going to begin hectoring Bryan Lee O'Malley for an early copy and an interview.

Cool. Maybe he can spill some of the beans on the upcoming film adaptation. For some reason, I'm picturing the film version as some candy-coated Linklater film steeped in video game references.

Probably just in time for me to finish reading Terry and the Pirates. Excellent.
