24 Season 7 - Page 2

So this prequel thing leads directly into the series which consists of 22 hours now?

Is the movie sticking to the TV show's real-time format?
It is. This two hours is two hours in real time and there'll then be 22 episodes. I don't know how they connect it to the first of those 22 episodes but it's literally the third hour...

So it will lead straight into the new series?
Yeah.
Not sure I like that. Was hoping the movie would be more of a one-shot type deal.
Absolutely. Albeit likely due to the writers strike this sounds like a bad idea. And since the prequel apparently is set in Africa this kind of screws the 24 hours aspect. Not that this matters after the absurd scripts of last season.
If this TV movie takes place in a fictitious African country and the new season in the States all in the real time 24 Hour Format, how does ol' Jack get back to the States so fast in the real time format?

Oh, wait this is 24, like when Jack drives from the San Fernando Valley to Ontario in 8 minutes; Africa to Washington DC flight 30 minutes tops!
Not true. It's the full 24-hours. And I guess no-one will notice (or care) but it's all set 4 years after season 6. Apparently that makes it 2017. Jack would be at least 50, and Kim would be 33 / 34 !!

The trailer for 24: Exile (Yeah, that´s the name...) is out there.

A lot of familiar faces are popping up (Power Boothe, Peter Mac Nichol!), Jack still snapping necks with his legs and dare I say: This looks...intriguing?
apparently season 7 is set 3 years after season 6. Someone figured out that this means Bauer, Chloe et al are 17 years older than season 1 !!!.

And Jon Voight!

That's actually not that big a deal anymore, is it?
John Voight is surely one of the regular season stunt castings 24 is famous for. But he is not a familiar face on 24. Yet. So I refrained from listing him.
The return of Tom Lennox aka my favorite character from the last season!
This looks like Blood Diamond 2: The Jack Bauer Years.

From what we're shown, this looks a lot better than the pinnacle of unimagination the show reached last season.
I'm not sure if it's 4 years later.

Wasn't Wayne president for 2 years already or something when Season 6 happened?

Anyways, this looks like it has the potential to be Jack Bauer's Rambo.

And from the trailer it doesn't look like it takes place over 2 hours of real time at all. One scene was at night it looked like and the rest in broad daylight.
I like the trailer but that voiceover has got to go. Oh dear me.

The best part of the trailer is when Bauer is pointing his gun at an armed munchkin (and since this is 24 you know it's not going to end happily). That's one of those classic action movie cliches, where the haunted hero cop/soldier/mall security guard recalls the time he had to shoot some kid because he had a gun but now whenever the hero closes his eyes he sees THAT FACE. Rarely do they actually show the standoff, though. Kudos, Fox!
This looks ok, but it does look like Rambo in Africa. I do appreciate the concept that the producers are bringing attention to the continual genocide and human rights violations that are taking place in Africa, from FOX NO LESS!!
Now that Schwarzenegger is a politician and Stallone seems to be melting, this show is one of the few places we can get 80's action in this modern day and age. I hope this season the producers cut back on the lame, played-out twists and give us more "Jack against 20 terrorists" scenes, like when he rescued the SecDef in season 4. 20 terrorists, missiles hitting in 8 minutes, and Jack goes in by himself. You just don't get that anymore.
Anybody watching this "24: Redemption" prequel movie airing right now?

I'll be watching it later- I've been kind of itching for my Jack Bauer fix. Last season was sort of a clusterfuck, but count me as excited for the upcoming season. SOUL PATCH RETURNS!
Reviews have been mixed at best. But, will watch it anyways.
Return of the Jack Bauer LEGS OF DEATH!
I think the ending is fairly obvious. I just want some good kills.
"Kill The Cockroach"

Fuck, this is as bad as a 2 hour episode of Walker: Texas Ranger.
The main kid has the most annoying possible voice.

Your Walker comparison was amusing.
A Walker/24 crossover with a Jean Claude Van Damme cameo with Steven Segal as the villain would be the best
post #74 of 885
It was fine. Light on action but it was nice to see Jack in a bind that didn't involve the fate of the entire US or involve a lot of kooky CTU gadget-talk.

Can't help but be stoked for the new season though.
Season 6 was cack, but this felt like baby steps in the right direction, even though it felt very A-Team sometimes. And I want some foreigners who don't speak english. I can read subtitles. Also best use of Powers Booth so along..
Whats the new season about?
Moles.
I thought it was pretty good/entertaing. Loved the African plot, but have no idea what the hell was going on in Washington, still confused over that.
it served its purpose as a good set up for the season. I just glad the strike happened so this wasnt the theatrical release that it was ment to be. That main kid was gawdawful.

And now we know why Tony Todd was killed off on Chuck.
Dammit! I totally spaced that this was on last night.
I watched the first hour, I'll finish it up tonight. I probably would have finished the whole thing but after the first 10 minutes I had to stop it to make sure I hadn't accidentally recorded Blood Diamond.

Seems like Power Booth's administration was behind the coup. Secret Service is "protecting" him. And Jon Voight is also behind this. And Candyman is killing people in Africa. Anyway, I'll watch season 7, but if it's anywhere like season 6, I'm out after that.

And it's better than Blood fucking Diamond, not that it's saying much...
Can't eat it all the time, but a big meal of 24-style corn 'n cheese just hits the spot once in a while. Still can't believe they went and called it "Redemption"; I guess they had copyright issues with "24: Action/Adventure," "24: Character Arc," and/or "24: Conflict."

The sad part is this had better production values and acting than the entire movie of Twilight.

Enjoyed it. Good set-up as mentioned, and it's great to have Jack and the clock back on TV. It felt like seeing an old friend you hadn't seen in ages.
Can't wait for SEASON 7, and it was great seeing the trailer in HD.

They had better explain the return of Soul Patch.
It was alright, very predictable (the only thing I got wrong was I thought he would end up shooting the cockroach killer! The old 24 would have done that).

Nice to see Kiefer back though. Can't figure out if the torture of Jack was supposed to be a tribute to Rambo: First Blood part II, or if it was just a lazy rip.
A brand new President with possible family problems. Check.

A pussified UN worker who nearly gets a bunch of kids killed. Check.

A giant weasel of a government employee sneeringly serving a subpeona to Jack for "going against the rules". Check.

Partner of Jack completely martyred in the most tragic way possible. Check.

Ah, "24", it's good to have your crazy ass back.

I'm actually looking forward to a CTU-less "24". The worst plot contrivances of this show always seemed to revolve around CTU.
I wonder exactly how CTU-less it will be. I guess the department has disbanded but I'm sure there is gonna be some sort of office/agency setting where all the mundane stuff happens while Jack does his thing.

They better give Buchanan some cool stuff to do this season. Hopefully his post-CTU days will allow him to have a much more devil may care attitude about life.
I hope Buchanen gets into the action more. It was spectacular in the last season when Jack and Buchanen were out in the field together.
Yeah, that was one of the only memorable bits from last season. More suitless sidekick stuff would be appreciated.
Goddamn I've missed 24.

I loved the President's son's girlfriend. Nice lingerie to casually get dressed in. Was that Molly Pope?
Carly Pope.
It was decent, but the action was poor and overall it looked cheap.

Looking forward to Kurtwood Smith though.
Late to the party. It was fun.

So this one takes place in Washinton right? I'm really happy we'll be getting a CTU-less 24.

So the villian in this case will be the guy who should have died in the mine explosion, who wants to avenge his brother? Not sure what type of terrorist threat they're going to introduce here, I was kind of hoping the whole thing would take place in Africa or some other continent. Oh well, at least it won't be LA yet another time.
My god. Redemption was worse than any of the worst episodes of the show. Worse than when Jack spent almost an entire episode waiting for Chloe to finish downloading a satellite photo in season 4.

The writing for the Africa scenes was painfully awful, not just in terms of quality but also entertainment value. It got pretty hard for me to keep my eyes open. Worst of all, Jack stayed in sentimental mode for nearly the entire thing. "Oh, won't somebody please think of the CHILDREN???"

There was the occasional amusing moment, like "The United Nations remains neutral in this conflict!", but that's it.

Some of the Washington stuff was decent. Powers Boothe has a magical ability to render even the most awkward dialogue listenable. It all played like deleted scenes though, or that superfluous season 4 prequel/car commercial.

I certainly didn't expect something on the level of even a TV movie, but it was worse than any 2 random episodes. They utterly failed at executing the idea of a standalone segment in every way.
My god they were shameless
My god they were shameless in their portrayal of a spineless ineffective UN officer.

It was also extremely pro war, and pro American, I thought, justifying why American military might is needed across the globe, while agencies such as the UN are portrayed as irrelevant and hapless.

The actual movie was probably worse than any sinlge episdoe, and the main kid needs to be featured in Devins best kid kills. Seriously this kid was so annoying, I wouldn't give him life saving drugs if he was infected with HIV.

While Powers Booth is awesome, this is compensated by, the horrible to watch and listen to, new female president. 24 always has some new stunt up its sleeve, I suppose it was only a matter of time until the president was female, I wonder how many seasons its going to take for them to finally present us with an ethnically Chinese, or openly homosexual president?

The ultimate crossover: the Butterfly and Diving Bell guy as the president.
Yeah, i caught a re run on tv, and it's a disaster. It's so poorly written and directed. It's boring as fuck, really low on action and it's shot on the cheap. I really hate it.
I finally got around to watching REDEMPTION tonight. Twas okay. The biggest shock for me was the complete lack of creative Jack kills. You'd think the mayhem could have been a bit more inspired, considering this was basically just an action-filled side story for Jack. Where's a hacksaw when you need one?

Oh, and, yeah, that Carly Pope chick was hot as hell ... though the whole time I kept pegging her for a mole/traitor/bad guy in waiting. Anyone know if she's back for season seven? IMDB doesn't seem to think so.
Regarding it being a "CTU-less" season, I was under the impression that Bill, Chloe et al were just gonna hang around in a fancy cellar on computers all the time anyway. They've got rid of the CTU name, and that's about it.
