It was almost like a moment in a romantic comedy. "Aw, look. Some of his bad habits have rubbed off on her. How cute!"

The wig on the Kim Bauer stunt double was seriously terrible.

I was amused by the fact that Renee's "I'm about to go off book and fuck you up" face didn't quite match the intensity of Will Patton's "Oh shit, this chick is crazy and I'm in big, big trouble" expression. That dude looked really worried! You would have thought Jack was in the room holding a blowtorch.

My third favorite season, trailing only five and two.

I hope next season begins with Jack waking up from the coma into a world where Patton and Tony are supernemeses, Walker is a bitter disciple in prison, and Kim is dead. Jack's reaction to all this is Zen, he's like Neo, he maims and kills with economical precision and a blank face. At least for a few hours.

Kudos to a pretty solid season of 24. I'd put it a little bit behind S5 and S2/1st half of S1. So, it's 3rd or 4th, depending on how you count it.

If Tony's evil turn hadn't been handled so badly, the season might have finished out better, but it happened so abruptly and then led to a string of several severely stupid episodes that the (improved) finale couldn't quite redeem them.

I actually liked the finale, for the most part. Sure, it wasn't too action-packed, but I liked that the introspection & navel-gazing this season reached its peak as Jack lay dying. It gives thematic unity to the season, even if it's not terribly exciting.

The "cliffhangers" (Walker's imminent beatdown, Kim's stem-cell donation) actually felt shoehorned into a thoughtful episode, whereas usually the thoughtful pondering is what feels shoehorned into this show. What a switch.

I loved this season in spite of it being a polemic on torture. Jack's absolution was a little ridiculous and Tony's big reveal wasn't a surprise, but for the most part the finale was pretty good.

One beef I had was that the writers completely betrayed Aaron. Doing something clandestinely rather than going directly to the president does not seem very Aaron-like.

This has been a great season, missed watching it weekly for the last couple of months and had a great couple of day bauer-a-thon to catch up (finished 20 minutes into the finale, so I didn't have to watch those peskey commercials ) and sure enjoyed it. I like how it ended things hanging. I just hope that annoying Garofalo isn't around next season.

Btw, a big shout out to everyone in this thread. This has been a very funny thread to come to after each episode.
Thanks for a great season.

You know if you replace the gender of that last interrogation scene its like a rape is about to take place. Hell, Wilson's gonna get raped anyway.

Yep, yep, 24 is one of those shows that are entertaining due to both its content and forum feedback afterwards.

I liked the season as a return to form and I hope season 8 goes out with Jack dying. I really felt sorry for President Taylor. She has a piece of shit husband and daughter.

I dont think they betrayed Aaron. I think he had to do things a little bit differently because it was the presidents daughter, so he wanted to have as much proof as possible before trapping her.

Has anyone watched Spooks? It's pretty much the BBC version of 24 with Jack Bauer type characters as well.

They're pretty brutal with the cast as well. With almost two exceptions, almost every menber of the MI6 Team has either quit, been killed, gone on the run or turned traitor.
THe finale should have had Rack Bauer doing a chocke hold on Gerafalos character while soothingly saying "don't fight it, don't fight it."
Garofalo should walk away from 24 with whatever dignity she has intact. The role she plays is basically redundant given that they already have Chloe, so did they just bring her in to shout at her? I mean, I love this show for a bunch of reasons (Bauer's a truly classic character, and the show is usually somewhat entertaining, occasionally badass, always retardedly hilarious), but that scene where Jack gave Janis a verbal punishing was so fucking ugly. That wasn't the character speaking, that was someone else bringing bullshit political baggage in using Bauer as mouthpiece. Renee Walker cuffing her to the wall and then going in to torture Patton screamed right wing wank fantasy, too.

I want to change my alarm in the morning to just be a looping YTMND of Jack screaming at Garofalo
post #864 of 885
This whole season has gone against the Jack we know by making him so vocal and defensive. Many of his outbursts have been out of character, but that last one was shameless, whats funny is Garofalo defends her decision to join the cast of 24, by saying, its not a right wing show anymore.

I liked that the season ended in a non-24 way. Meaning it was pretty casual with no major iminent attack but the end to what could've been another episode.

20 Bucks says Kim's an analyst at FBI next season. Another 20 that Tony hangs himself in his cell.

And the opening scene next season is JAck doing his morning prayers at a Mosque.

A mosque in NYC gets bombed, killing his newfound Muslim brothers. Jack declares jihad on America. Kim and Rack Bauer team up to take down Jack.

You just know the next season has to be about Arab terrorists, the preacher is preliminary defense against the show being branded as racist, see not all our depictions of arabs are bad... Just the overwhelming majority.

I know this is the season 7 thread, but the best news was announced today. Freddie Prinze Jr is going to run CTU Field Ops next season!

Isn't that great?

...

Seriously, what the fuck?

What The Fuck.

Oh well, it'll be worth it to see him die. Painfully.
He and Jack will make a bet to see which one can take a simple poppy seed farmer and turn him into the next leader of al Queada.
We haven't seen him in awhile, maybe he's grown as an actor. Maybe he's got a weathered face, and an eyepatch.

Consensus is no silent clock when he buys it, then?
THR says his character's name is Davis Cole. And that he "wants to follow in Jack Bauer's footsteps." So it sounds like the mean jock role.

Also joining: Jessica Stein, as a reporter.

Well Ricky Shroeder wasn't all that bad, was he? He was certainly unmemorable, cause i can't remember what the hell happened to him.

If I remember correctly he had half his face burned off in the season finale before dramtically (and hilariously) telling Jack, "Save the kid, Jack! Save the kid!"
Jesus Christ, we're this close to casting Haley Joel Osment as a computer geek or something, aren't we? Or maybe Mac Culkin?
First I was like, huh? And then I lol'd. This thread rules.

Meanwhile ... I'm depressed until season 8 starts.

And the Prinze's girlfriend will be played by Starbuck. I'll be first to say it: he doesn't deserve her.

I'll be the first to say it: she's the mole!
gad, I think I'm already bored of next season!
They need to hand the reins to someone eventually, weren't they grooming that badass Chase to be the eventual next Bauer? Maybe they're going for the same with Prince Jr. Cross your fingers.

Will he have a soul patch (a la Tony)?

As someone who watched Spooks (MI-5 here in the states), it took itself seriously(no clocks, cougars, or..well Kim). Lot of similarities, even had the same actor play a "crazy CIA guy". The first three seasons were very good (even had Hugh Laurie as a "House-ish" MI-6 boss !)
