And I'm back. . .

My dear, fellow chewers. After two years of long absence, I am home from France. My time there was well-spent, and very well-appreciated. I have been having much difficulty re-adjusting to life in the United States.

In any case, for those of you who have no idea who I am, I'm Cellophane, who disappeared from the boards two years ago to live in France for two years as an LDS missionary.

So, I'm back and adjusting. I heard that 2007 was an incredible year for film, and so I definitely need to start hitting up my netfilx queue. So fill me in a bit on what I've missed cinema-wise. I've got oodles of time to waste.

I finish by saying agian what I said two years ago - I am happy to be back on the boards and especially to hear about how the boards, two years ago used to be different. There was far less snark and people only discussed movies.

And please forgive painful grammar and/or spelling errors. I'm getting used to english language and the american keyboards.

Sanjaya lost and Heath Ledger is dead.

Welcome back.

Less snark? ONLY discussed movies? Are you talking about the regular boards or the elite forum? ;-)

As for spelling and/or grammar errors, you must apply to DaveB and Miss Zooey for a 4 week waiver of the "rules" while you re-adjust to the states.

Who are you?

If someone stood up in a crowd
And raised his voice up way out loud
And waved his arm
And shook his leg
You'd notice him

If someone in a movie show
Yelled "fired in the second row,
This whole place is a powder keg!"
You'd notice him

And even without clucking like a hen
Everyone gets noticed, now and then,
Unless, of course, that personage should be
Invisible, inconsequential me!

Cellophane
Mister cellophane
Should have been my name !!!!
Mister cellophane
'cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I'm there!

I tell ya
Cellophane
Mister cellophane
Should have been my name
Mister cellophane
'cause you can look right through me walk right by me
And never know I'm there. . .

Suppose you was a little cat
Residin' in a person's flat
Who fed you fish and scratched your ears?
You'd notice him

Suppose you was a woman wed
And sleepin' in a double bed beside one man for seven years
You'd notice him

A human being's made of more than air
With all that bulk, you're bound to see him there

Unless that human bein' next to you
Is unimpressive, undistinguished
You know who. . .

Should have been my name
Mister cellophane
'cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I'm there
I tell ya
Cellophane
Mister cellophane
Should have been my name
Mister cellophane
'cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I'm there
Never even know I'm there

I think I sort of remember you, you were that guy who said the stuff.

Yeah, you're going to need to fill this form out in triplicate. Please hold still for the retinal scan.

Oh, right, THAT guy! He was always saying stuff about that thing, remember? Heh, good times.

Cellophane, welcome back, but you lost your grasp of the English language after 2 years? Having never been abroad for more than a few months at a stretch, is that all it takes? Seriously? Weird.
No, Zooey, not "retinal" scan...
I remember you. Welcome back. Did you ever get around to watching SNIPER? Sorry about Romney.

You've missed a lot around here in the last 2 years. Rep points, some board regulars left in a fury of anger, then some of them came back for a spell, then they left again, then they corrupted the main page's talkback feature which is now disabled. Many saxes have been wailed as well.

Through it all I've managed to remain a rock-solid source of delightful tomfoolery.

My spelling is not too stellar anymore. And sometimes I say things in an unnatural way. I've not lost my english, but I've lost a lot of subtle capability.

So, what movies do I start with? You know, besides "Sniper?"
Welcome back. Have you stopped in before since you'd left? I seem to remember your screenname every so often, but I may have been looking at some old threads. Have you not posted in the whole two years?
Here's a game. Which one of these events from the past two years is false?

1) Devin moved to California
2) Diva made a thread about her ass
3) The main site added blogs about strippers
4) Fabfunk left

Ah *wailing sax* was a good time. 2 years ... was that long enough to miss the Serenity hubbub?

When you put it like that, I suppose things really *have* changed.

Because of your name and the fact that you went to France, I assume you like musicals:
Romance & Cigarettes
Once

SHOOTER was pretty good.

I'm scared to reply.

It was no Crank.

Go watch Crank.

I suppose you start with the Best-of lists of the years you missed and work slowly through the lists.
Will shed an intersting light on the "film-snobs" vs "fanboys" civil war that is amusing/infuriating the site in recent times.

Former Milli Vanilli member Rob Pilatus tried to kill himself by jumping off his hotel balcony. I'm not sure about the exact details, so you might want to look into it yourself!

EDIT: I did a bit of research, turned out this happened in 1994. Sorry!

Can we add that Fabfunk managed to freak out David Cronenberg, as well?

Pretty sure that made the French papers.

Even a death stunt and he can't become famous.

Mr cellophane:

In the 2 years you have been AWOL, slap bracelets have become unfashionable. Do NOT, under any circumstances, wear one!

slap bracelets, the annoying loud fad-based killer.

Arby's bought Wendy's. For the love of Brigham Young, keep any of your thoughts on that to yourself.
Devin told us all about how much he hated men's sandals and then complained about people not posting about movies. He then announced he was quitting the boards. Don't worry, though, he's back.
You missed the troll who went on a wild troll-posting spree, one of which was a post announcing to everyone that I was really a man. He was banned about 10 minutes later. But for a brief, golden moment in time there, I knew the joy of having a penis, even if it was just the internets.
Since you left, I became, like, super famous. Seriously. You should look me up. I'm kind of a big deal now.

(Oh, and I used to be g-dude in case your memory is totally shoddy).
Lisa, this thread isn't about you. Stop hogging the attention.

A black guy and a chick are running for President.

Mr Cellophane, Welcome back to CHUD...otherwise known as a good place to...Wrap. In case you hadn't heard, the Govenor of New York was kicked out of office for bringing a prostitute over state lines. The Giants won Super Bowl XVII over the previously undefeated Patriots, and a new Knight Rider series is on NBC in the fall.

Quod erat demonstrandum.

A Black Guy or A Woman might be President in a few months.

In America. I'll wait while your head explodes.

And you were in France, not the Arctic, how far were you from civilization or news from the US?

Welcome back. I know I joined after you left, and you have no idea who I am, but welcome anyway. Always room for one more. Would it help your readjustment if we were more France-like, and were rude to you for awhile?
Double post. Sorry.
Has anyone mentioned that Harry Knowles bought out CHUD yet? That was kind of a biggy.
As a missionary, were you not allowed to use the internet, cause I'm prettu sure they got in France.

Oh, and Iggy...the French ruder than Americans? Puh-lease.
That was two years ago? Jesus. Anyway, glad you're back. Spring Awakening kind of sucks, don't see it.

Welcome back. I'm sure you and I have will have many delightful discussions in the religion forum.

Thanks for once again doubling the number of Mormons on the boards. Good to have you back. When I got back from my mission in December '98, the best thing was spending months getting caught up on all the movies I missed. A few days after I got back from Korea, I spent an entire day at a megaplex taking in 4 movies and gorging on popcorn. It was great. And while I had crappy VHS as my main resource for slightly older releases, you may be able to enjoy your missed movies in the glory of 1080p and Blu-Ray. Highly recommended.

It was probably great to sit back, sift through a stack of movies, and enjoy a delicious beer. Oh, wait.
Wow. I'm sorta jealous when I realize that he can just go to the South Park website and watch almost 3 seasons of South Park in a day. Without waiting weeks apart for one new episode.

Lucky.

Mountain Dew was my poison. That was rebellious enough for a good Mormon boy.

Let me point you to a good, local brew. Just try a few. Open your mind...
