Which sites do you use (for upcoming release announcements and online ordering)?

I'd like to find a good site for new release announcements (this site doesn't work, as the column doesn't come out until the day of release -- sometimes the night before -- and isn't searchable by date or title) and to order from?

www.thedigitalbits.com is probably the best all-around DVD site.

I used to swear by DavisDVD.com, but they shut down.

DigitalBits.com is pretty much where I go now, although their "slight" bias towards BR over HD-DVD was kind of annoying to me for a while.

When researching The Special Edition (which comes out every Monday, and has a Coming Soon for future releases in it as well) I go to:

DVDActive.com, DVDTimes.com, Criterionco.com, dvdverdict.com, bluray.highdefdigest.com, blu-ray.com, MovieWeb.com, dvdtown.com, dvd.ign.com, reel.com, thedigitalbits.com, videoeta.com, videobusiness.com

Or you could just read The Special Edition on Mondays and check out the Coming Soon section of the column, which usually lists all the current release announcements in that section for the last week. On the right side of the main page is a box with the last two Special Editions in it and if you click there, the recent column pops up and then just click on the Special Edition link at the top of each column and they are all organized by date. It's that way for every column on the site.

For the latter part (ones I've used in the past and haven't had a problem with):

deepdiscount.com - Many times the best prices, though in my area slow shipping

amazon.com - Often the best prices, and a number of good sales, usually fast shipping even on the Free Super Saver

overstock.com - I haven't had any problems

buy.com - Sometimes they have good prices

I'll echo some good ones - DVDActive / DVDTimes.co.uk - and another is the upcoming DVD art section from thedigitalbits. While it's not quite updated within an inch of its life, the cover art certainly helps with impulse decisions and remembrances.

Starving Dog ... while I read the column, it comes far too late and isn't searchable -- shy of going through every column to see if you've written about a release.

Let's say, for example, that I want a release date for the next Futurama movie ("Beast with a Billion Backs") ... I'll go to another site, thank you, rather than go through every link to see if I can find the information. By the way, the release date is 6/24.

Ok. I understand what you meant by your original comment now. I would say for that purpose a pretty cool one is dvdverdict.com. That link goes to a page with each Tuesday's top releases on the left side (and a link to see every release big or small) and then on the ride side a bunch of the cover images of major releases as well.

You should find whatever you are looking for there.
