In Plain Sight

I watched some of 40 y/o Virgin tonight on USA...saw a few ads for that new series In Plain Sight.

I thought I recognized that woman from the West Wing, Mary McCormack (...hottie!!)

She looks to be a lot tougher in this show compared to her characters in others...based on the few scenes, I saw...

I like to think this particular thread was his plan all along, with a nice, slow build up.

It's almost as if he was hiding in plain sight!

Ha ha...Well, maybe not!?

I truly was surfing the net and remote simultaneously...(honestly, was flipping from The Kardashians...).

Saw some older 'West Wing' threads from like 2000-'04, so thought I'd start a freshie for this series...it's all good, though!

I saw a couple previews for this yesterday. What happened to McCormack's face? She used to be hot.

She still is hot buddy.

Hot, indeed!!

She does look a little different from her W.Wing days...I'm not sure what it is??

But she's DEFINITELY still got it. I saw another spot the other day, where she's moaning, and then on some futon, all sweaty...(and topless)...good lordy!!!
My father mistook her for Maria Bello yesterday after seeing the latest IPS commercial.
It's weird how the tone from the commercials has changed from 'Look at this hilarious comedy!!' to 'We help people in witness protection and are emotional and stuff!'

I'll give it a shot. I learned my mistake from not watching Burn Notice when it first started.

double-post
Bunk in the previews is the only thing making me think about maybe, perhaps, giving it a shot. At least the first episode.

He's a Marshall named Marshall! That's fucking hi-larious!

Yeah...I saw him, neat!

That dude Paul Ben-Victor, or "Spiros" from The Wire is supposedly in it, as well!!? Should be cool to see how it all turns-out, this Sunday...
I'm kind of confused about the rapid shift in tone from the advertisements. Before it was like 'wacky dysfunctional action comedy' and all the advertisements I've been seeing lately are 'heart warming witness protection drama.'

I'll be interested to see what the show is really like when it airs on Sunday.
Pretty solid, I thought. It's got the normal pilot blues that tend to strike most TV shows, but hopefully it'll find it's footing as it moves on. She does a good Columbo.

"I can't believe my best friend is dead! And you tried on clothes first before you told me!" That made me laugh. A lot.
Better than Saving Grace, but not as good as The Closer in the pantheon of "cable dramas with strong female leads with dysfunctional personal lives"
Decent, but not amazing. I've heard it gets substantially better in the next few episodes, so I'll stick with it.

Anyone else get some strong 'Veronica Mars in the FBI' vibes from this? Mary's sense of humour and especially the scenes in the bar were totally Marsified.
Thought this pretty much sucked on all counts, and I thought a lot of the jokes fell flat. Her voiceover made it out like she'd worked homicide cases, but it seemed like she didn't have a clue what she was doing. She kept pulling ridiculous shit and lucking into the next plot point, or it simply occurred. Her partner was almost entirely superfluous, and he sounded like Jeff Anderson (Randal from Clerks), and they gave him nothing but lame little comments to make. His best line was in ASL...

They can only go up.

I'm glad we're not the only one who picked up on that. It was the line he uttered when she was kicking on that guys' door that prompted my wife to say the same thing.

Yeah, you know what...now that you mention it, I think that was the line that sparked a thought for me too!?

I don't mind at all, tho...cause Randall is probably one of my favorite characters, next to Jay...

Heard (...read) that as well. I'm optimistic, and guess we'll see tonight!?
Well that was...pretty shit. Worse than the pilot by some margin. I didn't mind Mary's case too much (and it took a great twist), but what the hell was the B plot about? Her family is just dull viewing, cut back the filler "comic relief" please. Marshall got even less to do, but at least we got to see a hint of his badassness in dealing with the slimey lawyer guy and the father.

Really, I kind of liked that one...

Did anyone catch the other week's ep., with Dave Foley?? What stood out to me most in that one, was the interaction/illustrated dynamic between Mary and Marshall.

I thought they might have some type of love-arch going on over the season...But, I guess they're "just friends"!?
Watched this for the first time last night...and I guess it's true...there are some things you just can't unsee.

This is aweful...

Haha...

Sheesh, this was actually one of my favz, so far!!?!

I'm not sure if it was the B-ball/gambling angle, or Mary's vulnerability, unleashed. I thought it was well done.

But, I also just love Mary...
So this has obviously come back, so I thought I'd kick the thread up again. Really great premiere episode, I think. The case seemed almost like a subplot when compared to dealing with Mary's vulnerability following last season's events. I found myself way more interested in seeing how she was coping.

Loved when she kicked the desk. I have a feeling she's going to try to be very contained this time around, but this new woman is just going to continuously cause her to break. I'm guessing this new woman will NOT last long when Mary returns full time to WITSEC.
I kept getting the impression that the new woman (who was an 'ex-FBI office worker') was actually the new FBI person sent to investigate her. The main 'plot' was a little confusing and kind of stupid though.

While I wasn't a huge fan last season, the cases at least made a bit of sense. This one was a bit convoluted and never really made a whole lot of sense.

How did the dad die from exposure to the coins but the kids or original thieves not? What kind of biological agent like that would still remain that lethal 20 years later? I don't know, just wasn't a great story.

The fact that her mom and sister weren't hardly in the episode was nice though.
That's actually great thinking about the FBI plant. If that's the case, then she's already coming into this with a negative opinion of Mary and will probably give her a hard time. I kind of look forward to seeing their interaction. Mary doesn't seem to do well with other females, so it will be kind of fun to see one who is around her degree of toughness that she can duke it out with.
Well, they've just started delaying the Hulu version of the show a week. I didn't really care about the show at all but now that there's this huge delay I probably won't even bother to occasionally watch it.
You know, as embarrassing as this is, I've never used Hulu. I think I was confused by it once, and I just built up a resistance to it. I sound like my father, haha.

But I do watch the episodes on the USA site. They're usually up about 24 hours after the episode airs. So that's always another option. I think they should even have all four from the season's beginning.
I had checked USA's site and it didn't seem like it was up there either (only up through episode 3 of the season that I can find). I think they've just changed the show to delay showing them until a week after it airs. That's what House does (and BSG as well) and it's just annoying.
Ahh, got ya. Yeah, I know Hulu is definitely a week behind in all episodes, so maybe the USA site is doing the same thing.

Jinx and Brandi are actually really tolerable this season, and it's more focused on Mary and WITSEC then family stuff...so if you get a chance to catch up, I recommend it. Good luck!
