This film boasts an incredible story and a very impressive soundtrack. Trainspotting includes graphic scenes of drug use, sex and death. One of the finest films to come from Scotland, this movie...
Nice. Beautiful.
The art made me think about an old pc game about a japanese girl and robots (Oni? i can't remember)
The hand movement still needs some work, a 3rd person camera could be interesting as well. But it certainly looks different. And different is good. (The last minutes of The Incredibles tell you so).
I almost made a thread about this when I read about it in the new mag, but figured I would wait until screens got posted first. I love the idea of spinning new takes on the FPS genre.
I love the fact that the city is bright and pleasant looking, not as if it was built by Dreary McDrearerson. I've got the feeling that this is going to make a lot of people throw up. And isn't the lead from Faith and a .45 also called...well, Faith? What, was Hope and Love already taken?
If they'd named her Change, I'd have this thing preordered. As it is, it looks like a great twist on the genre. I love the shots of her stripping the shotgun.
This still has a way to go. The background doesn't look all that next-gen does it? It looks like it will be fun, but it would be awesome if the graphics looked better. Still, as a trailer, it looks good. I just hope the final product is polished a bit.
And another one for Pc as well!
Nice! And man am I envious... That's what, the third trip to EA this year???
Fourth! Fifth if you count Vancouver. They fucking love me over there. I think besides the D-toid guys I'm the only one that's been at almost all of them.
They were hyped about this game one from day one, so I'm expecting great things. The new EGM actually has a really great article about it.
The rest of my gaming calendar for this year was booked pretty solid with Rock Band 2, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2, and Saints Row 2. Now I have to add Mirror's Edge? D'oh!
Dead Space, Fracture, and Fable 2 are going to have be phenomenally well-reviewed to break into this year's rotation.
Just to confirm: Jumping is done manually, yes? Even off of ledges and such? i.e. you sprint up one of those roof ramps (such as the one at the end of the first trailer) and hit the jump button a split second too late and you just plummet to your death, as opposed to the game automatically jumping you when you hit the edge? And mantling and grabbing ziplines is done by pressing and holding the jump button, please?
You can give the character quick speed boosts, like before jumping from roof to roof. But the game is all about moving to build up momentum. You run and jump fluidly and you'll be able to jump tall walls and leap farther and such. But lose it and you'll find it hard to wall-jump. You need to keep moving and finding a good line. That's why the time trials are going to be so much fun.
God Dammit, with this and Dead Space getting early releases, and that Red Alert 3 remix video, Im now sure that EA is after my money, free time and soul.
I've been interested in this game since it was announced but that new EGM article bumped this to the top of my want list with Gears 2 for this holiday season. I really hope DICE can pull this off.
Holy crap, look at that helicopter escape video. Awesome. That roof slide was straight out of a Jackie Chan movie. I don't remember which one, though. WHO AM I? maybe?

Holy crap, that was the same thing I thought when i saw that as well!
And yup, its from "Who am I?", Jackie slips through the roof chasing after a bag with a disc inside of it....Ive seen that movie my share of times.
It was the bit where they skip the ramp, jump over to the building on the left, wall run along it, and then jump back over to the target building that dropped my jaw. Despite the obvious cut to a different landing during the roll. And hi-res version of that video. This game is probably going to make me hurl (my stomach tenses up when I walk near high ledges in other games, a game that's ALL ABOUT high ledges? fuck), but I can't wait to play it.
I'd just like to see a gameplay video featuring someone who doesn't know their way through the level. That helicopter chase looked fun (despite the blind shooter in the heli), but whoever was playing it obviously knew where to go. What's the game actually like when you're unsure of the path?
Also, I'm assuming the character you play is physically enhanced in some way? Surely that's not supposed to be a normal human being doing all that.
As far as knowing the path- you can see in some of the gameplay videos that objects that can be interacted with turn red- that's her tunnel vision of sorts that shows her what can be interacted with and where she should be heading. You can turn it off if you're more familiar with the board or want to go your own way. That helicopter chase shows the different paths you can take- that part where she ran along the wall instead of hitting the obvious ramp in front of her was amazing.
But yeah, if you mess up anywhere it takes a bit to get your momentum going again, and it's hard to jump on top of bigger obstacles or scale walls.
Sebastien "I outran James Bond, bitch!" Foucan seems to have been involved in the design of the gameplay...gametrailers posted a video, link below, which confirms a demo is on the way!
So that new Foucan trailer says you can race him in the demo. When the hell is this demo coming? The game drops in a little over a month. The demo should be very soon, right? Like maybe in next week's PSN store update? Pretty please?
LOVE it. As soon as I finished, I started up again, with no reticle and no "Red View." So fucking cool. Anyone got a pre order code they want to share so I can do time trials? The sense of height, speed and movement are incredible. Anyone still bitching about it being in first person after playing needs to be pushed off a very tall building for they are stupid and wrong and very wrong.
It's fun enough, but I can't imagine this having any replay value at all. Unless the campaign is a lot longer than I'm expecting, this still feels like a rental.
Yeah, I liked the demo but as a single-player only it would most likely only be a rental for me. The story seems kind of crappy as well. I almost wonder if this game would work better in a more sandbox or Tony Hawk/skate style game.
I'm not sure how good the story is going to be but I do dig the art style.
The use of color in the game is pretty unique. In the demo it's mostly white/gray/silver/reflective stuff. Then there is just a dash of color thrown in here or there and it really makes certain areas pop.
They also use color (blue around the edge for notification that bullet-time-esque sequences are available) or red on enemies that you have to get by.
It's interesting how they give the surface such a clean and almost sterile feel. They use the fact that systems can easily render straight edge lines to great effect. I'd imagine that as you get deeper into the game, you'll find that the world gets less and less organized. After you finish the demo they show some videos that were of different areas (I remember seeing a sewer).
I don't know, the bold red/white combination with large splashes of cool orange and a clear blue sky just really seemed like a fresh aesthetic to me. In some ways the colors kind of reminded me of Portal.
It looks great and plays really well. I'm not sure i'm getting where the gameplay'll keep me hooked though. It's fairly linear, considering the options you're given.
Won't pass judgement on a demo - certainly worth a rent. I'm curious.
Maybe I'm biased because I've really been looking forward to the game but I loved the demo. I just wish it wasn't so short. Or that you need a stupid pre-order code to try the time trial.

Almost word for word what I came in to post. I will definitely rent this.
