I made these for a final project I'm about to shoot, thought I'd show em off and get any comments the chewers might have (they're big):

What's the script about?

If it's not communist lobsters i'll be disappointed.

There's definitely lobsters, though they don't display any inclination towards any particular ideology. That's not to say that they aren't communists, it's just not defined.
Very V for Vendetta. Pretty awesome.
Yeah, these are pretty damn snazzy. I'm eagerly awaiting my autographed copies.
I'm no design expert, but I especially like the energy and humor of the first one. Nice.
I prefer the first one(and yes they're both rad).
If you want my constructive criticism, I'd say go with the first one, but either take the line-up of lobsters and make them straight-up and parallel to the right side(facing up, and small enough so they don't intersect with the other art), or eliminate them. Just the fists and the lobster claw is a striking image.
Also, I'd adjust the opacity of the lobster stuff jussst slightly to get more of the background wrinkles visible.

Just my two cents, feel free to ignore me. I really do like the artwork.
Yeah, I do prefer the first one, but I'd be pretty damned intrigued if I saw either one hanging in a theater lobby. They have a nice sort of "I don't know what the hell that's going to be about, but I need to find out" vibe.

Totally agree with Nexus. The lobster lineup needs to be tweaked - otherwise, great fucking job.
Both look great. I think if you took out the lobster conga line in the first it would be a true winner. And seriously, tweak the script to make these lobsters a bunch of commies.
I love em both. Keep the conga line and put a little sombrero on one of the lobsters.

JUUUUUST so people wonder.
I'm not a professional graphics designer or anything but if you'd lose the lobster parade the first one would be pretty awesome.
Fuck that noise, sombrero ftw!

Thanks so much folks, I appreciate the input.

Seems to be a pretty universal dislike for the Lobster-conga, I'll have to tweak that. I tried it parallel to the side when I was first making it, but it creates a weird tension with the right side of the frame, and kinda killed the energy of fists/claw. I don't want to take it totally out, so I may reduce the number of lobsters involved, and stick truer to the inspiration; images like this...

Thanks again everyone. I'll post up a new image when I change it around.

I think there's only one person whose opinion on this matter we can trust:

myers87

What's this movie about? I'm deathly intrigued.

To pull from our current (likely to change) synopsis:

All For Lobsters details the story of a Hero, divinely inspired, who goes on a journey to liberate a clutch of oft ignored creatures.

Quick and dirty, but how about a little of this action?

You motherfucker.

Considering the last logo I made was this:

How the fuck did I not think of that? Well, that may well be what I end up doing - at least something like it.

Thanks!
Haha, no prob. At least you've got that shape already. Copy>Paste>Done.

Okay, here (I think) are the final designs. I can't spend anymore time on them because there's a whole lot of preproduction I need to get done, real quick. Thanks for everyone's input, I was surprised to get as many responses as I did.

EDIT: I will definitely be using the first one predominantly, but I figure number two didn't turn out to be too bad of a variant (actually I did that one first). The fists in the 2nd look rather lumpy, but I just love how the little lobster icons turned out.

EDIT:: Patronize Kroger! They are very cooperative with film students!
Awesome. Looks fantastic, sir. Good look with pre-production.
I like.
Nice. Well done.

Best of luck with the actual movie.

Greatness

Gotta admit, if I saw that in a theatre lobby I'd immediately go home and find out everything I could about that movie. Hell, just looking at it makes me want to see the film. So, yeah, it does its job and then some.

Ever consider doing this professionally? You'd make a killing in this world of floating heads and boring concepts.

Wow, thanks! I've done a bit of graphic design here and there- made a logo for a company or whatever - but it's not something I do constantly. To be honest, I feel like I've kinda blown my creative graphic design load on these.

Here's some production stills from the first day of shooting, for anyone interested...

This is not from the movie, but was kinda funny:

And this would be, I guess, a "teaser image" from the actual footage:

Here's some more production stills for anyone still counting. They are from our second/final night of shotting - it was absolute fucking hell...

Good idea. I just tossed it together to stick in a presentation that I'm doing today, but I like it more every time I look at it. Keep it simple, I suppose...

Aaaaaaand we have picture lock. Sound should be done by Sunday and the wee bit of CGI should be in place Monday.

I'm excited with how well it's turning out. The edit looks great, and sound will only help. Fingers crossed that the computer stuff look decent.

Yeah, actually, I like the other ones, but I love that one.

Looks cool!!

What exactly is the film about and when will we get to see a teaser and official website?? I ask because I work for a couple of websites and have connections at several others that might be interested in scooping it. I think it's very cool it's being done right here in Atlanta. I'm in Carrollton, Ga.. By the way, LOVE all of the posters!!

Thanks very much. Keep in mind, it's a short (as in 5 minute short) that was shot for a final project. I am excited to see some Chewer reactions though.

I've vaguely mentioned it above, but the synopsis essentially is that a girl wakes up and is divinely inspired to save lobsters. She marches down to the local grocery store, finds the tank, and begins to "liberate" the crustaceans. She's spotted by an over-zealous security guard and they begin a long chase. The chase concludes near a river-bank with a shocking but satisfying ending.

With it being so short, if I get any more detailed - I'll spoil the whole damn thing (though the pics above do that for me).

I'll be posting it online Monday night if all goes well, and there will certainly be a link here.

Cool!!

I'll be watching!! Even though it's a short, I still may know some sites that may be interested. The posters look fantastic. Thanks.
Did you ever post a link to the short? Did I miss this whole thing?
Yeah, make with the link if it's up, Renn. Nice looking stuff in here.
Renn just bumped Cary Grant off my avatar. Good show, man!

Well thanks for the interest fellas!

The deal is this:

We finished and (barely) got it edited in time to turn it in. We did so, everything was fine for class - hooray. What we turned in though, was the group effort which means it was another person's edit (for his class) and was scored/sound-designed by someone else for their grade. The sound was thrown together at the end and wasn't anything like I wanted.

What I planned to do was immediately recut it the way I wanted, with the music/score I envisioned and put it on the internet as soon as summer began. On my move home, the DVD with the cut and sound back etc. was lost. I've been trying, begging, cajoling, and waiting to have new copies of everything sent to me by my editor, but apparently he hasn't found the time...

I'm back in school in one week, where I can shake him down for everything. All For Lobsters (and my new short) are forthcoming!

EDIT: Greg, I'm honored. It's like a mega-sig!
