Nor Minneapolis. Double Goddamn.

Tickets already bought for Chicago. I know it's cliché to bitch about Ticketmaster charges, but two tickets priced at $34 each ended up being over 90 bucks. And it's a general admission show, at that.

But judging from the DVD and the other live clips I've seen, it'll still be worth it.

I got mine. Cool thing is, we have a company that challenges Admission, which was bought by Ticketmaster. 35$, + 1.50$ for service.

Not bad. And that's the same day I got my Wolf Parade tickets (also coming on tour at Chicago and Minneapolis - Highly recommanded BTW)

Thank you for the heads-up. He hasn't been through my neck of the woods in seven years, and even then not with the full band. This should be epic.

Well then, tonight is the night. Anyone saw Cave's tour yet? How is it?

Pretty fantastic. It wasn't hugely revelatory, since I have the live CD/DVD Abattoir Blues thing, but he's an immensely engaging performer and the Lazarus songs sound as good as you'd expect them to. He doesn't spend much time on banter, but a lot of his songs come off like he's a preacher addressing the pulpit, so there's plenty of connection.

As for the band, they're top-notch, especially Warren Ellis, who not only regularly makes a violin sound like an electric guitar, but makes a violin sound like the best damn violin you've ever heard. He also has a mean array of effects pedals, which he occasionally uses without even bothering to pick up the instrument he's "playing." Pay attention to him during "We Call Upon the Author."

It sounds like he played similar sets both nights in Chicago, which probably means he'll stick pretty closely to those songs throughout the tour. He hits a lot of the stuff you'd expect, not a lot of "deep cuts," with maybe a third of the set dedicated to the new album.

That's great news Dave. I'm expecting some of these new songs, and I'm glad to hear they sounds good.

I'll post my impressions after the show.

Mine's next Tuesday. I need to catch up on newer Cave.

I'm not a huge Nick Cave fan, but I did enjoy the show. Warren Ellis was just incredible.

And, bonus: some girl sitting two seats down from me vomited all over the guy sitting in front of her during the opening act (who were, btw, vomit-worthy). So, yeah. Rock and roll.

Let's hope Montreal can live up to it's reputation and out-rock your show. I'll bring crystal meth, whisky and maple syrup!

Well, that was an amazing show. Nick Cave live is an event worth going to, and he's so cool he's able to look that way even with his ugly-ass mustache.

The setlist was great, and those new songs really came out well. And yes, Warren Ellis was awesome.

The opening act, a local bad called Tam and the Vampires, is proof that Montreal can produce some horrible shit. This wannabe punk band got booed throughout their set, and Montreal is a very forgiving crowd.

And MissZooey, we did rock the shit out of you guys. How? What about a guy lighting another guy's long hairs on fire by accident (or not?) with a zippo during God is in the House? No harms done apparently (it did smell awful for a while and the guy kinda lost a part of his hairdo), and Cave was impressed with the in-house pyrotechnical team.

Yeah, I think you may win. But, if put into competition, the vomit smell would compete admirably with the burnt hair smell, if only by virtue of the fact that it hung around for 20 minutes before the security staff cleaned the area up.

If we do start a list of worst shit happening in concert, I'm guessing I'll be supremely outclassed...

Same here. I haven't been to many hardcore or metal shows, and I'm sure one or two folks here have seen GG Allin, and they'd probably win by default.

But, Dave, there was that time you knocked that guy out at The Drive-By Truckers show...

burned hair > vomit, if only because more bystanders could enjoy the show. You win, Martin.

This need it's own thread. Or further explanations. Whatever led to DaveB to physical violence is intriguing. He seems like the type of guy that could defuse a situation by explaining to a guy how retarded he his and makes him cry.

And it's a pure coincidence that the hair thing happened. I never saw an incident in a show before.

It must be the mustache.

Most setlists are similar. And those new songs come out really really well.
