Mother's Day is this Sunday!

Thread Starter
Since I can't find the old Mother's Day gift thread via search, and the link google is giving me is invalid...

Here's a yearly reminder - Mother's Day is Sunday! If you haven't already made arrangements, get it into gear!

Some ideas:

Flowers, of course. But if you get a plant, it'll be around a lot longer!

Gift Certificates - to favorite restaurants, movie theaters, blah, blah.

Pajamas - I've used this site a couple of times: pajamagram.com. It's about the same amount I'd spend on flowers or whatever, but it lasts much, much longer! Plus, it's something different. (And you can still order today and have them make it by Sunday)

Any more last minute ideas? I'm kind of stuck, myself, because if I get another Red Lobster/Regal Cinemas GC for my mom, I think I'll be the most boring daughter, EVER.

How about Glamour shots? Tell mom to tease that perm and grab that collar. It's time to look sexy:

Seriously, though. Thanks for the reminder.

We're doing a combo Mother's Day for Mom and birthday party for me on Sunday, so we'll both make out like bandits.

The last time I saw my mother she screamed at me, across a room full of family, that I was a stupid sonofabitch. Why? Because 16 years earlier, after my dad died, I threw out his handicapped parking permit, which she had wanted to use because she's above taking an extra 20 seconds or so to walk across parking lots. If not for my Dad's side of the family I'd have no reason to ever go back home.

Ick.
We're very close. She's also my favorite sister as well as my aunt.

Family tree hasn't forked in about, oh, 76 years or so.

Mother's Day is usually really easy for me. Baseball season is still early, and the Cubbies probably are coming to town close to that time, so I buy extra good Astros vs Cubs tickets for my mom's Birthday/Mother's Day combo and find a nice restaurant downtown to take her to before the ball game. Done it many times, but she always loves it.

AWESOME. (see sig below!)

I moved 1,200 miles away from my home town a couple years ago, so this year I'm sending mom a digital picture frame with some photos preloaded.

I've been sigged! Thanks, Jeremy!

My brother got my folks a digital picture frame containing all the photos taken at his wedding (he got married in South Korea) about a year or so ago. Very cool gift!

A boy's best friend is his mother.

My continued existence is gift enough. She knows not be greedy.

I sent my Mom the DVD of Enchanted. She loves cute, fun movies like that.

Sometimes I think Chris "Supertramp" McCandless actually survived and now posts as Seabass.

That's not so bad. At least she didn't wish/pray for your death.

I've long since realized that she doesn't consider her children to be people and thus is exempt from treating them as a civilized person should. We didn't have a fight, this is how she always talks to her kids. Who are 39 and, as of tomorrow, 36.

But I'll still call her on Mother's Day because she's my mother and that's what sons do.

Did they invent a telephone that allows you to talk to the dead yet? Because that's how I'd call my mom.

Having a get together tomorrow (since mom's birthday and mother's day is so close we've always celebrated them together). For the first time in 30 years all five of her children will be together. That in and of itself is pretty damn special.

How close Eileen? My mother's birthday is the day after Mother's Day.

I'm getting her flowers. Cliche I know but she's a tough woman to buy for.

I'm doing what I did last year: getting her an arrangement from both the florist on Shattuck and the UC Botanical Garden (the things they sell there are insane). General commencement is a couple days later, so, my parents, the significant other, and I are going to dinner together in San Francisco. It's going to be a fun couple of days.

Her birthday is on the 8th. This time of the year flowers is what everyone else usually gets her - that or gift cards.
