Don't know if you folks are familiar with this strip, thought I'd link it:

Some examples:

Pretty funny. That last one encapsulates 80% of CHUD religious discourse.

hehe Good stuff.

These are very unfunny.

And horribly drawn.

No, they're funny. And true.
No, they're not funny. They're banal. You guys actually laughed at these? Really laughed? You may agree with the message, but come on, they're not funny. They're devoid of wit.

I'll grant Overlord the 'I hope God was watching' line had some humor in it.

"Devoid of wit"? Hardly. Did you visit the link, or judge from these scant few I posted? The author is British, fairly clever, and yes, witty.

Did I visit the link? No, because these few scant offerings, I assume you thought worthy of sharing, suck. They aren't clever or witty.

Since you know the site so well, why not link or post the ones that are clever and witty, instead of these few you no longer think are representative of his work?

You really need not bother though, or feel you have to defend your enjoyment of this strip. I just don't think they're funny, or clever. Difference of opinion, I suppose.

If you can't have your faith questioned from time to time, then your faith is pointless. It is REQUIRED to be questioned for your faith to work. These strips do just that, in a witty manner.

There's a saying around these parts... if you can't take the heat, does the pope shit in the woods? Well, not really.

Oh, so you are a Christian, or Muslim then? And that is why you find these funny, because their sticking it to the religion you hold so dear? Is that what you're telling me? Or do you think I'm religious and must be incapable of finding these funny on that basis? I'm not religious, these just aren't funny or witty dissections of the faith of those that are religious. They're the same tired shit you hear all the time, and they didn't need to be reiterated for the upteenth time through a comic strip. It's fucking lazy to be honest, but when has that ever stopped anyone? Maybe these cutting criticism have only just reached the Brits....

I first saw that strip a while ago but I only now read it occasionally.
The earliest ones are the best but I have to agree that it isn't always that funny anymore. I dunno, I've probably just read too many of them and become too familiar with the approach.
When I first heard about Jesus & Mo it was right around the time of the Mo-toons controversy from the Jyllands Posten in Denmark and it seemed important that at least one British cartoonist was mocking Mohammed (and Jesus at the same time, not unsignificantly) when no newspaper in the mainstream British press would reprint the Danish cartoons. Other newspapers in Europe reprinted them out of solidarity with the Danes but my country (the UK) could only produce some weak and cowardly condemnation of the cartoons. At the time, Jesus & Mo seemed to contain humour with a hint of political defiance which is why I liked it and read it. It's not a site that I remember to read regularly now, though.

Jack, i find your posts unclear on why Jesus and Mo is unfunny. But it's not worth a argument over. I would be interested in seeing a comic strip you do find funny.

That's not clear? In turn, I would like a 5 sentence paragraph from you on why you think it's funny. Not really.

I really don't care if anyone does find these funny, I just don't see it, and felt the need to relay that to all of you fine folks. I'm not trying to convert anyone, feel free to chuckle politely and nod approvingly to this strip.

So, not to belabor my not funny stance, last post from me on this.

Thanks for the clarification. I think we can close the book on this subject now.
