I can't speak for anyone else but I've really been enjoying reading this thread. Isn't that the point?

I must say I have enjoyed this thread and I haven't even posted my story, until now.

It was the summer of 2003. I was having some trouble so I decided to move back in with my parents. A few people I knew from high school were working at the only quasi-famous spot in town, Ye Olde Mill, Home of Velvet Ice Cream. I got a job there and started hanging around with a handful of people that included this 17 year old girl (I was 19)from the next town over. My two best friend's had a crush on her and she really liked another friend of our's who was about her age. I told her all kinds of crappy things about my friends to make sure she never liked any of them and then started chipping away at her perception of the guy her age. After a couple months of this she thought I was the most wonderful guy.

We have been married almost 3 years now and we have a set of twins on the way. She knows I lied to her about my friends and everything but she is glad I did it because she can't stand one of them and the other told us he was gay at a later point.

Bros before hoes, eh, Dan?

Hey, I have little to no social skills and hardly ever met women who would actually talk to me. All kinds of girls liked those guys. We are all still friends so it worked out.

Edit - Also I should mention my wife had never had a boyfriend before so I think she only liked me because she didn't realize what she was missing. Thankfully she is totally against divorce so it's too late now anyways.

I'm sorry. I'm just bitter.

This thread and I were on a covert mission for a little known offshoot of Interpol. We'd tracked our perp, an oil baron and known serial killer active on four continents, to a non-descript area in Bahrain, but were subsequently caught up in a dust storm that left our skin rough like pulped sandpaper. My left leg, wounded in a knife fight with some Pakistani heroin dealers, was undoubtedly necrotic. I wasn't going to make it much further.

As a coughing fit purged the sand from my aching throat, I glanced up and saw the target - a mere dot on the horizon. But who else would be out here? It had to be him.

I gripped this thread by the shoulders and looked it in the eye. You must go on, my friend. Retrieve Azad and make sure he is tried. The thread looked at me quizzically. You know you must, I said. Afterwards, make sure you go to the CHUD board and squick out the insecure guys who think that posts about long-term heterosexual relationships are "gay."

The last time I saw this thread prior to it popping up here, it was bounding across the plain at a bold and confident pace. A bold and confident pace.

And I read this thread so I can choose who I will go rape next. To each is own, but DaveB has always been the romantic one...

DaveB just won the internet.

He does that a lot. He has several Internets stuffed and mounted on his wall.

Well, I guess theres some hope in this thread. If you schmucks can get a woman, anyone can.

Oh, and Werewolf Girl, enjoyed the youtube video. Having recently gone through a pretty harsh breakup, I consider my bitterness mostly justifiable, even though I know I'll get over it soon enough. Just today I finally worked up the courage to talk to someone in my Calculus class, who I'm taking out on Friday....just hoping it goes well at this point.

Dammit, why's Dave got to be taken? I'd go gay for him and I could declare it across the internet that I met him on the internet and posting a picture of me and him in front of his wall of mounted internets that he won, where else, on the internet.

Nothing wrong with OKCupid. One of my fiancee's friends met a really great guy off there.

Is that what those things hanging on my dining room wall are? I thought they were squirrels. Huh.
So the inernet is in the form of a squirrel? Huh, you learn something new everyday.
Well, it's something squirrel-like anyway... I try not to get too close.

I made a stuffed computer in my 7th grade home ec class. It had a giant space invader on the screen. This is what I imagine a stuffed and mounted Internets to look like.

Doc, I saw him first!

It's the beady eyes and the sharp teeth that freak her out.

This thread reminded me of this video.
Now I know exactly what I need to do!

NSFW I guess, language

I have really enjoyed reading these stories and they give a lonely guy like myself hope for the future.

I met my girl at work. As Belethedeliel was quick to point out at the time, I was dipping my quill in the company ink.

My rationale is that my job is pretty boring, and I deserved the distraction. We're coming up a year together.

Yeah, but you haven't worked together in months! (And she's great, and you too are so totally cute together!)

Is this thread the death rattle of the boards?

Not necessarily, the fact they have significant others and still post this regularly is encouraging, that online dating thread however....
Seeing "devincf" in the Last Post column for a thread like this is like seeing "Werewolf Girl" in the Last Post column for a CHUD boobies thread. You know you won't get the goods, but you have to click on the otherwise-avoided thread JUST IN CASE.

I had pretty much the opposite reaction. I'm gonna lay down and die now.
