Two questions to the general population

1 What's with chicks digging guys who play guitar?

2 Does guitar hero count?

In my experience as a guitar player, I find they care even less for me.

Look at that, I made myself sad. I'm gonna go get some whiskey.

The internet. Yeah, I know, I'm more cliche' than Werewolf Girl.

Oh, and thank you to Matt OCallaghan for making me join that website.

Everythings a cliche, just live.

Whiskey does help a lot.

A lonely alcoholic? That's such a cliche.

I'm not sure adult friend finder counts.

Fun? It's been done before, don't be so unoriginal.

OKCupid.

You may stare at your screen judgmentally for 5 minutes. After which, I cordially invite you to go fuck yourselves.

Trust me dude, that site's soooo much better than 90% of those other sites. Feel no shame.

I don't remember what followed in detail to be honest (after the flick we went to a bar and talked until early morning), but it was basically film talk (and hell, it's difficult to find one that does give thought about flicks. I never met a woman before who actually knew someone like Tom Wilkinson by name. So she had me at Wilkinson.

The same can be said for flipping for sexually ambiguous, guitar-playing, art school boys. Objectively speaking, of course.

The last closest thing I've had to a significant other: we'd been friends for years, we went to Meet the Robinsons and she got freaked out when the 3-D started (her first time) and grabbed my hand and never really let go.

Only problem? She was dating another guy at the time who was a friend of mine that I wasn't really on speaking terms with.

Three months later and I'm still bearing scars. I'm a fucking idiot.

How'd I meet my current significant other? I fell asleep on it, pulled it out from under me and said "Hey, you could be doing more for me".

It might be time to call in craigslist. Can I have some of that whiskey for the moment?

Well, she was just 17,
You know what I mean,
And the way she looked was way beyond compare.
So how could I dance with another (ooh)
When I saw her standin' there.

Well she looked at me, and I, I could see
That before too long I'd fall in love with her.
She wouldn't dance with another (whooh)
When I saw her standin' there.

Well, my heart went "boom,"
When I crossed that room,
And I held her hand in mine...

Whoah, we danced through the night,
And we held each other tight,
And before too long I fell in love with her.
Now, I'll never dance with another (whooh)
When I saw her standing there

Well, my heart went "boom,"
When I crossed that room,
And I held her hand in mine...

Whoah, we danced through the night,

Now I'll never dance with another (whooh)
Since I saw her standing there

In my experience, women always go for the drummer first, then the guitarist if the drummer got another woman.

Werewolf Girl seems like shes dating Trent Reznor circa 94'.

As soon as she reads that, she's going to out-squirt Cytherea.

At work. She was a student I was the teacher. She looked so hot in that Hannah Montana shirt. Plus she was just the right height...if you know what I mean.

...Yes, that was my point. Anything and everything has been done before, so fuck it. Spending all your time trying to be original and hip is a great way to never do anything at all.

I think some are confusing "significant other" with "fuck-buddy".

I've banged my share of gals, but there wasn't anything significant about any of them.

I was in church. I realize I'm known for being rather irreligious around here, but it was a really tough time in my life, and I was very angry at a particular person, so I tried praying for God to kill them. He didn't, but in that kooky way of His, I met my Other, who as chance would have it had just been hurt by the same person. We bonded pretty much instantly, and while we haven't been able to pay this person back just yet, it's been a pretty blissful union so far.

Awesome. Maybe you and your SO are meant to kill this person together. God does work in mysterious ways.

My wife and I had mutual friends in high school, but were only acquaintances. We went our separate ways for many years, but about a decade ago a mutual friend was gathering contact info on the old gang and gave me her email address. We corresponded for a few months before getting together to reminisce over dinner. One thing led to another, and we've been a couple ever since (and celebrating our six year wedding anniversary next month).

Met mine on Match.com. I originally went there to scope for pics of hot babes, and they wanted you to actually sign up to be able to view stuff. So I did, using the pic I used to promote my CD several years earlier.

Been married six years.

Met her April of 2004 on Myspace...pretty much randomly. She found me on there, we started talking, and continued talking. I drove to her town to meet her one weekend, and from that point on we've been together. Everything clicked. Coming up on 4 years together on August 3rd.

It's weird, you expect it to be some grand meeting or some such thing, but sometimes it starts off as just this casual "hey friend of person I kind of know. " Hell, a lot of the time, you don't even like them that much or think of them like that at all. Then something will happen, they'll do something, you'll say something, and bam. Seven kids.

On my dick.

Met her on Yahoo! personals back when the stuff was free and the guy/girl ratio was even more staggering. Our first date was a picnic lunch outside the Vilas Zoo and culminated in me skinning the living hell out of my arm while we went rollerblading, her telling all about how mallards gang rape the lady ducks, and a pigeon shitting on my shoulder. Eight years next week...

...and Syd, quite the abridged version there. SEVEN kids?!

I was attending Mardi Gras with Fidel Castro
Bucksome cross dressers threw fake gold coins at our feet
As we discussed the fate of the revolution
Suddenly, CIA men dressed in bikinis
Tried to stab us with fountain pens
Fidel blew mustard gas from his cigar
And immobalized the lot of them
19 tequilas later we had a deal
Havana goes back to the mob
And Fidel and I open a chain of Kentucky Fried Chicken shops

Same here. I had a tax rebate (i'd been over paying my taxes for 4 years damnit!) and so i thought I'd try the 6 month guarantee option.

The irony being she was simply someone I emailed to fill my monthly quota (in order to qualify for the free six months bit) rather than one of the people I sent long winded emails to.

Luby's

She was having lunch with my brother and his fiance (she was good friends with my bro's fiance). She had recently dyed her hair a dark reddish color. My brother, thinking he was a hilarious smartass, asked her if the carpet matched the drapes. She replied, "There's no carpet." I fell in love.

We'll be married 3 years in September.

So I just have to ask what the purpose of starting a thread like this is. Do people actually read all these stories? Is there discussion triggered by them? As far as I can tell, it's just people popping in, telling their oh-so-interesting story, then popping out again. What's the point?
While I don't have a specific answer or opinion regarding Greg's question, I do have to say that Matt Turner's story is pretty hilarious.

Besides, if tomorrow night's date works out, I'll be able to add "Match.com" to this thread. Not that I'm counting on anything, I'm sure this will be more of a "getting my feet wet" sort of date. I've been pretty happily single, I'm still not too sure what I want, if I want anything at all, and how not to go into this date with my "bad attitude about dating" showing. It's like - I want to date, but I want my space, but I don't think I want a boyfriend, but I don't want to just fuck around. I've gotten pretty selfish that way - I want what I want, regardless of what the guy might potenially want. Anyway, whatever, unimportant blabber - we'll see what happens.

You sound just like my fiance' when we chatted on the phone before our first date, and that was match.com to.

Well, I dunno about you...but whenever I have a few free moments in my day I love reading about how totally anonymous people met their loved ones.

Isn't that the entire internet, though? Most people aren't interested in hearing what others have to say, they just want to say their peace and leave. The thing I've noticed about CHUD is that people do stop and read what others have to say and, as such, I shall return the favor.
