Gears of War 2 - Page 3

Can you have bots on your team in Horde mode? I tinker with it for a few minutes here and there and I always end up going at it solo. I need to get online, that's for sure, but I don't want to hop on only to have to bail if I don't have a lot of time. Anyway, by myself, all alone in Horde I've gotten up to wave 5 and I seem to die either in a blaze of Marcus flavored flaming bacon or I get turned into chum by boomers. It's awesome though.

ETA: I need to get back in there and finish the single player as well.

No bots in Horde mode, unfortunately.

Me and a buddy have been going through the co-op campaign on Insane. Yea, it's difficult as hell. Can be incredibly annoying at times, but we seem to be able to push through.

After we finish that, it'll be time for some Insane Horde. Yikes.

Insane Horde is crazy. A couple buddies and I made it through the first four waves before it started getting ridiculous.

All right. Who wants to horde it up tomorrow night at about 10:30pm central?

Curse my lack of internet connection. I seem to be woefully behind on all things video games, but finally got around to playing this and it's great. Everything I liked about the first one, but amped up to 11. Seeing the entire city of Ilima collapse in front of you was a wonder to behold. And my kudos to the writing and cinematics team, it's not Oscar worthy stuff, but that scene with Dom and his wife had me a little choked up. Very well done. One of my favorite video game moments of the year.

I, and some friends, are on almost nightly, so look me up. I believe I am your friend, but if not: Poulsonator

I give up on non-Horde multiplayer. GIVE UP. As compellingly awesome as co-op campaign and Horde have been, the multiplayer non-functionality is really galling.

I tried for eighteen minutes last night to find a game (with one other person in my party). No luck. I think that, cumulatively, I have spent about forty-five minutes trying to connect over four or five sessions. I've never been able to start a single game. I have no idea what the problem is.

Good thing the rest of the game is so great.

I thought they were supposed to be patching that problem. Have they not done it yet or did it not work? I tried doing non-Horde multi once. I played in one ridiculously laggy match for a minute and a half and spent another 15 minutes trying to find a match before giving up.

Whatever they did, if anything, does not work.

Playing through Gears of War 1 on Co-Op reminds me how much I hate the writing in this game. It's not even that it's meatheady, it's just so fake. It's like a bunch of nerds trying to approximate how macho people would talk.

Horde on Gears of War 2 is hilariously awesome though, it's the perfect mode for the game. All the carnage none of the horrendous plotting.

Every time I play Gears of War 2 for any length of time competitively I'm reminded of why I hate the game, but I always forget and end up playing the game again and wanting to tear my hair out. It's such a borderline broken game, but there's something so enrapturing about the wanton destruction and bloodshed that my mind makes me forget all the bad stuff.

Gears of War 2 online

Do any of you guys play this online? I love playing this online, but its so fucking hard finding a game, it can take forever, is it just me or is this the case for you guys as well?
Yeah I play it online a lot and I've noticed it getting progressively worse. I don't know if its becase of the new patch resetting everyone to zero rank or what, but it takes ages searching for team mates then finding another team.
The reason is that the game design is a piece of shit. The only thing they got right was Horde Mode (and only when playing with friends).

The next DLC should be an apology.

Yea, its getting unacceptably long, I still brave the long waits since I just got gold subscription and love this thing online, but there can't be an excuse for the wait times being considerably worse than the first GOW. Fuck, what the hell are we paying a subscription fee for? Tis BS.

It mostly has to do with how many you have in a party. The more people, the easier you find games. The majority of other people seem to be usually in teams. Seems like its how they pair you.
Yea I don't play in teams I just jump in, and I noticed a lot of the time my team of random players is frequently up against a team.

You can get xp for Horde now, and they've introduced TICKER SQUADS. The 10th stage of Horde was just like 90 tickers.
Reached level 35 last night with a group of randoms with the 4th of July Ticker Horde mode and not a single bloodmount. It was bliss.

They've made a few changes to the playlists and from the 19th they're rocking 10x experience for about ten days so I was thinking it might be neat to get a group together and try and do some levelling.

There's also a new social playlist and I think if we can get a team of five we can play 'ranked' matches against Insane Bots rather than other people, which might get rid of some of the usual Gears annoyances.
