You play Dead Space? That final boss was pretty horrible. If this boss is worse, then that's embarrassing. Of course when one of the objectives is to outrun a turd, anything is possible.

Halo 3's campaign may never be surpassed in awful, but for sequels, this hasn't been too hot.

In my defense, the first few levels are pretty bland and the dialog is horrendous. The giant worm made up for all of that though.
I had a blast with this campaign. The last few levels were fun as fuck. Online is also fucking killer. Private matches are where it's at, especially now that you can insert bots. No more randoms! We played for like 3-4 hours straight on Friday night. Good times.

I only got to mess with the game a little bit over the weekend, but I'll probably give it another go tonight. I've only tinkered with the campaign, but I'm enjoying it so far. Still in the hospital, just getting ready to head outside, which really isn't too far at all I guess. I'm still amazed at what these guys can do with the engine... It looks amazing, but the first one did too. So far, so good. Maybe I'll be able to get online with some of you guys at some point. I didn't do that enough with Halo 3.

The dialogue isn't really bugging me too much. I was just happy to be slinking my way through the environment, pickingin up little archive bit and making a mess of things. The dialogue could be "Der der DERP!, PBBBFFTH!" and I'd still enjoy myself. Of course I'd probably laugh more... I suppose I'm too easy to please.

Horde is an amazing MP experience. I will say that. It bodes well for Left 4 Dead that I loved Hordes so much, having been unimpressed with Gears 1 MP.

Really enjoying Gears 2 quite a bit more than 1, which is weird, since the gameplay is so similar. Guess Gears 2 is just constructed better.
The mortar is the most fun gun I've ever used in a video game.

The campaign is dumb fun, anyone who likes Armageddon is required to like it.
I wouldn't necessarily call the last boss bad, just anti-climactic.

Is it just me or did the game seem to borrow heavily from Halo 3? The images of your guy carrying a heavy weapon are almost identical and the distant fires of both games seem very similar as well.

That being said, its still a fun game if you like shootin' n' killin' and had some of the best graphics of any game that I have ever played on the 360.

I don't know why the hell they try so hard to make the game emotional?

All the shit with the Dom's wife dying in his arms was laughable after all the horrible dialogue and paper-thin characters in the rest of the game.

A friend and I tore through Co-op a couple nights ago, and I have to admit it's probably the best looking game I've ever seen. It's fun too, but I still feel the controls are kind of broken in this series. Something is just unnatural about it(no matter how much I play), and I still found myself getting into cover at the most inopportune times(goddamn razor hail). Horde is awesome.

Two questions. I played split-screen co-op with my friend. I was on normal difficulty, he was on easy. How does that work exactly?

I used 14 of the 15 weapons in the game, did I miss some rare weapon or is it more likely that I just never killed anyone with one of the common pistols or something? I don't think I ever got a message for torching someone with the flamethrower.

Did you get to use the hammer of dawn (the own that brings the satellite laser down from the sky). That's the only one I'm missing

Even better is that with the limited edition, you get a copy of the picture he shows to everyone while trying to find her. I'm still trying to figure out if its intentionally awful or not.

I think he can a bigger beating than you is all, and probably throws out more firepower.
Yeah, but then what's to stop someone from playing on easy and the other person playing on insane? Easy point farming there.

Yeah, I used the hell out of the Hammer of Dawn. I was sad it wasn't used more in the game, still my favorite weapon(that and the bow). The mortar was indeed cool, but it took me a while to accurately use it.

I think the writers believe they made something really good and profound here, but I may be way off. Same thing happened with Halo, but at least the writing there was competent(the characters still mostly suck).
The Hammer of Dawn doesn't show up in the campaign until the final boss, right? (And I didn't get credit for that kill for some reason.) I had to nuke someone in multiplayer to get the achievement.
It showed up a bit earlier I believe. I got my achievement before the final boss.

Hell, there's one scene in Act 3, I think, that's straight out of that movie.

I'm really enjoying the campaign so far (I just finished Act 3). It's much better than the Halo 3 campaign even though it cribs some of the settings from that game. I can see myself going through this a couple more times in co-op on the harder difficulties.

In in Act 5, chapter 3, it's in-between some cars in the middle of the street right after the garage skirmish(where you and Dom split up, but you're back together at this point). It's right on the corner in the street where it turns right.

That reads like babbling, hopefully it makes sense to someone else who may be wondering.

What's the deal with the meatshield achievement? I don't quite understand what I'm supposed to do. I've used meatshields to not get hit destroyed by the Grinders but I don't know if that's considered "saving my life" or not. The progress bar in my war journal reads zero.
Wow, you weren't kidding about that final "boss". I wouldn't even call him a boss. The section leading up to it is such a blast that you'd think they'd come up with something a bit more challenging to send the game off right, but nope.

Still, what a game! Now to do it on insane with some co-op.

I think your meatshield has to get so shot up that it falls apart for it to count.
edit - but it looks like you already did that too

So did anyone watch all of the credits? I liked the little hint about the obvious sequel at the end.
Horde. is. mutiplayer. crack.

I may never play the "true" multiplayer version of GeOW2.
Horde is pretty awesome. You are correct. That shit gets really hard in some of the later levels.

The last achievement title also seems to be a hint of the next sequel.

I bought this a few minutes ago, and I haven't even opened it, but I have extreme buyer's remorse.

Gee, thanksafuckinlot. I just bought this, too.

The game is a blast if you enjoyed the first one. And the multiplayer is fun if only for the fact you never have to play with randoms again if you don't want to.

And I don't.

Exactly. Shit, I was just playing online with insane bots and it was a blast.

Insane bots?
Not sure if that's the correct term, but the hardest setting of difficulty for the bots. They were kicking ass and taking names.
They don't fuck around. Insane horde alone puts this in the running for "Game of the Year."

I just got the achievement when I killed someone with the ink granade. I'm guessing that might be the one you're missing too.
The fucking giant worm level was useless. Completely boring and repetitive. Also, connecting to a game over XBOX Live is not working. Haven't played mp since I bought the game. Anyone else experiencing trouble with that?
Had an issue the first night, but not since. Sorry guy.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially when you're storming strongholds!

This easter egg successfully balanced out my disappointment from the lack of another Cole Train rap in the end credits.
Haha awesome. Make me wonder if there is anything else hidden. Someone told me there is a Futurama reference or quote on the last couple of levels. Ill have to ask again exactly where it is.

UNLOCKABLE BENDER CHARACTER IN MULTIPLAYER!!!!!*

*I wish.
I was saying to someone at work on Thursday that having Benders voice instead of Fenix would be the best unlockable EVER.

I'm sure legal mumbo jumbo would prevent this, but I can dream.

That would be pretty cool. God knows this game could use some personality. And no, Cole doesn't count as "personality".
In case it hasn't been said yet: this game is gorgeous. Just beautiful. We stood around in co-op mode in some of the underground lairs and just marveled.

I don't get the toast thing. Some lame internet meme?

So this ending, which looking incredible, is incredibly stupid. I mean SWIPE the plan to flood the Hollow might have been great when the Locust did NOT know about it. But since Adam Fenix told the Locust about it (or did he?!) and the Queen's plan was obviously the same in order to get rid of the Lambent, don't you think the regular Locust would have moved their base out of the flood area? Basically, Marcus and crew did exactly what the Queen wanted and now the humans are totally boned. I'm curious to see how they'll fix it in the third game. UNSWIPE

I have a few questions about the multiplayer for this game:

I've seen videos of split-screen cooperative play, but do they have split-screen for competitive modes?

Further, can you do four-player split screen?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm looking for a good four-player FPS game for the 360 (other than Halo 3). It seems like no one is making those anymore these days.
The story can be played through in 2 player co-op, and well as Horde mode. I'm not sure if you can play regular Vs. online(or offline) with a guest or not.

There is no 4 player splitscreen in Gears 2.

I think Call of Duty: World at War might have some of what you're looking for.
CoD4 has 4 player split-screen co-op. I'm not entirely sure if you can go online with it splitscreen to make up the numbers, but there's 4 player online co-operative also.

It'll probably satisfy your criteria for 4-player splitscreen and then some. It's got all the deathmatch features involved, and i'm pretty sure some of the other gametypes. In fairness - it's one of the most complete multiplayer experiences we have on any platform which is surprising given it's Treyarch.

(Ignore this post, I moved the question to a different thread).

Brilliant. Awesome.

The best thing is when their eyes go wide when Cole Train arrives. That's exactly how I felt seeing him again.
Just throwing this out there, but in Horde mode, the bloodmounts can go fornicate themselves.
