I'm not a particularly huge fan of Romania. I have my reasons, but I also have my reasons for loving the few films of theirs that I've seen thus far. This one I've seen a couple times, but most recently a couple nights ago. It's not a very accessible film, and it deals with purely Romanian political issues. It's shot almost completely using static shots, with extremely minimal, practically non-existent camera movement. There isn't much of a conclusion, but it has a lot to say about honesty, credibility, and general things that come with those stuff. Photography for the last few shots is especially beautiful, and it helps a lot with rather large amount of frustration that can be felt towards this film, as there is really no conclusion. The director, whose first name escapes me, goes by the last name of Porumboiu, and is part of what some call a "second wave" of Romanian filmmaking. This film and 4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 Days which I still have yet to see also contributes to this notion. Definitely worth checking out for those of you brave enough/willing to do it.
