THEM! Comes to Houston

Houston isn't only being overrun by immigrants and people who want English as the official language! They have a much more sinister foe...

Great excerpt:

Quote:
The hairy, reddish-brown creatures are known as "crazy rasberry ants" — crazy, because they wander erratically instead of marching in regimented lines, and "rasberry" after Tom Rasberry, an exterminator who did battle against them early on.
Some men are immortalized with statues, others have creepy-crawlies named after them. Just look at Gary Larson.

I used to love to eat a big box of Crazy Rasberry Ants at the movies as a kid.

THEM! is a forgotten classic. Excellent flick. The sound effects are still remarkably impressive.

Apart from Forbidden Planet, it's my favorite of the 50's sci-fi flicks. Can't believe no one has attempted a remake of this one. It's a blast.

I heard here awhile ago that a remake was in the works. Can't recall the thread it was in. This is one of my favorites, too. I just hope if they DO try & remake THEM! they don't fuck it up TOO badly. As for the sound effects, they are great. The engineer who came up w/ the ant noise never divulged all of the elements he used to make that sound (he did let slip that one of them was the sound of his own brathing). He took the secret to his grave. While I admire his dedication, it's a shame that this will probably never be replicated or tweaked, even in the remake.
