California Thinks Gays Are A-OK

The Gays Win!

Minutes after the decision was announced radio stations already had local reverends and pastors making asses of themselves. It was sort of wonderful.
One small step, but the right one. This is the sort of thing that makes glad to live in California, and sad that I'm not attracted to men.
Great News indeed. Let's hope more states follow.
It's days like this that truly show that the social conservatives are truly wasting their life.

Society creeps another centimeter forward towards progressive thinking! Always a good thing. Actually, anything that pisses off the fringe religious freaks is a good thing.

Anxiously await Rev. Hagee's thoughts.
I forced my hand to type in "freerepublic.com" to see what the troglodytes thought of this one, and they're in absolute fucking hysterics about how this is the end of the United States, you can marry your dogs and kids now, etc.

For a group of people who supposedly hate gays oh so very much, they're really, really preoccupied with what gay people can do. Lady, protest too much, etc. etc.

Do you think the media will get Rev. Wright's thoughts on this?

Wonderful. I wonder what Gov. Schwartzenegger's reaction will be.

Also, I hope the "shock" of this kills Fred Phelps.

Awesome, so when we get the big quake that's been threatened for a while now it won't be tectonic plates shifting, but God's will to smite. I hate.

Did you know your kids can Gay Marry in GTAIV?!

According to the article, Schwarzenegger respects the decision and won't seek to overturn the Supreme Court ruling.

For now, of course.
They're also talking about how McCain can use this as an issue to basically win the election.

My reaction to that: "Haw."
He's not going to do anything. He's said before that he thought the issue should reside with the courts and the Courts had their say.

The next problem is making sure this jerk off initiative doesn't pass on Nov 3.

Are they trying to ban masturbation now?
Those assholes dare try and do such a thing. I'll be the first one taking it to the streets.

The only way they keep me from my wang is if they take it from my cold dead hands

I heard they don't have nap time in kindergarten anymore.

I'm sure the religious right had something to do with that.

I'm so happy about this. A depressing sidenote: there is actually more rational discussion in the comments section of Michelle Malkin's blog on this than in the comments on NARAL's blog after announcing their endorsement of Obama.

Who's going to throw the bouquet at weddings now? The man? A german shepherd? And who's eligible to catch it? Porcupines? Lawn furniture? This is a social clusterfuck in the making here, folks.

Baby step, indeed, but one that is greatly needed.

I just spent the last week with some friends that now live in Montana. The husband has always been wary of "teh gays" but his wife always gave him shit for not thinking progressively. That was before she moved to Montana. Now, they are both "fucking fag-this and gay agenda-that" and it's very jarring to hear such bullheaded rhetoric from someone that used to have lesbian and cross dressing friends. I chalk it up to Montana. They also believe that Obama will turn everyone Muslim (I wish I was joking.)

Think about this, what does it say when people have the time during their day to post a comment on a blog. I wouldn't necessarily make a gage on rational clear headed people here.

Dear activist judges,

While you're at it, could you do something about this stupid taco truck law?

YES.

Faith in humanity - restored! (until I get an angry email from my parents about this)
I think if anything to come from this, it's that this ruiling come out of a pretty conservative court. And even though there probably will be this bullshit initiative in November. I have no doubt it'll be litigated to hell or perhaps hope of hopes people actually vote this shit down.

Oh dear God, what are they trying to do to the taco trucks?!

That damn liberal media isn't doing enough to bring attention to the growing taco truck crisis.
What the hell is a taco truck? A truck that sells tacos?

I just got caught up on TrAuCkO-Gate. (Goddamn it, just pretend it's a good name)

Seriously, that's so fucking cultural in LA that it'd be like passing a "No Bodega Law" in New York.

Apparently there's a big meeting somewhere in LA tonight regarding Taco Trucks. Saw something about it on LAist.

I want fight for the right to get a better tasting mexican soda as opposed to this weak ass American shit. You hear me Lou Dobbs!

Welcome to my hell. There was damn near rejoicing in the streets when the "god hates fags" amendment was passed here during the '04 election. And Obama? Every dickbag says his full name, like having the middle name Hussein means he's Muslim and was the mastermind behind the 9-11 attacks.

Your friends must not live in Missoula if they were turned so easily.

Mexican Coke is addictive. And I mean that in every way possible.

Also, Taco Trucks rule.

I hate the "Gay Marriage Approved" summary of this decision. Gays aren't being "given" something, nor is gay marriage being "approved." What's happening is that gays are no longer going to be denied basic contractual rights that heterosexuals already enjoy. It's as though someone is punching you, stop, then graciously state that they have "given" you a "punch-free existence." They didn't "give" you anything. They just stopped punching you.

The decision is this: "If a governmental entity permits two individuals to create a "marriage contract", then the government may not constitutionally deny to others the right such a contract due to their sexual orientation, because there is no rational basis for such a distinction."

There. How could anyone argue with that?

It's bad when your own Mother is buying 12 bottle cases of 1 Liter Coke from a guy who smuggles Coke racks from Tijuana.

You see, you're not thinking about the children.

Even my own.

I would buy the children rationale if anti-gay-marriage zealots were also in favor of denying the right to procreate to heterosexuals who would make unfit parents. Then, at least I could say that they are being logically consistent, even if their conclusions are wrong.

Instead, they're just out and out bigots.

Because dogs and kids are consenting adults who can sign contracts.

This court decision was made necessary the day that states and the federal government began to distinguish between married and unmarried people. I'd rather see legal marriage abolished and each individual taxed according to their individual income and property than see states keep conferring legitimacy on what is essentially a religious institution, but I'm not holding my breath.

The taco trucks in LA are some of the best places to get food. Fuck all the restaurants that can't deal with the competition. I don't want to live in an LA without taco trucks.
