That debut trailer just looks fun as hell... http://chud.com/articles/articles/14...WII/Page1.html
post #2 of 42
Yeah, it looks pretty good. I keep seeing where it says 'Wii' next to it though and getting pissed. I can't get any more video game systems so I'm just going to try to avoid reading about it.
Holy shit, what was that? I think I need to start catching up on my Wii games while on vacation, because this one is going to warrant a play through.
The main character looks just like Hellboy.
Yeah, the hand specifically.
It looks fun, loved the last bit.

Mad World

Coulda sworn we had a thread for this...

In any case, got my hands on it today, and it's fun as fuck. Easy to pick up, and just so entertaining to find different ways to kill people and string together combos.

Full impressions soon.

Ahh. One word instead of two. Let me merge it...

There we go.
My only worry was that it might end up being super repetitive. Think it might dodge that bullet, Alex?
Anything that gives my Wii (hehehehehehe) more attention is good by me. In fact, it tops my stupidly long lists of games I need to buy this year.
Yeah, it's right up there with The Conduit for me. I never would have thought two Sega games would be what I was most looking forward to on a Nintendo system.

Also No More Heroes 2, but I have a feeling the wait will be a lot longer for that one.

I think MadWorld could dodge the bullet of being too repetitive, sure. There are lots of different areas that change up the gameplay, and there's apparently 1,000 different ways to kill people. So you won't want for variety.

Conduit is pretty damn fun, too. Controls are ridiculously good.
Awesome. Good to hear, on both counts.

Not to derail further, but I hope the Conduit's multiplayer ends up being worth a damn. It could be the Wii's Goldeneye/Halo, if they nail that aspect.

Here we go- http://chud.com/articles/articles/17...ONS/Page1.html

Any questions, I'll try to answer!
Wait...the guy who did Bender also did Marcus Fenix? That's awesome.

How much are they utilizing the Wiimote controls? Just shaking guys off? Not that I'm complaining, just curious if it gets the most out of it.
Great article. Game sounds right up my alley. And yeah, How does it control?

They use it a bunch, but not to the point of overkill. Finishing moves are performed with various motions- at E3 the guy demoing the game showed one where he lifts and enemy over his head and rips him apart by pulling the controllers sideways.
Well I'm sold. Granted I don't have the Wii,and probably won't get one anytime soon but still.. I'm sold!

I love, love the visual style of it. Who knew that black, white and red color palette could = pure fucking awesomeness?!

Just uploaded the trailer that was released last month- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXei5KJvLT8

That version is a little bit better. And more red.
If they can patch it when the Wii gets 1:1 control for the remote I'm bying one.
Why would they need to if the controls are already good?

Apparently a lot of companies are having trouble getting Nintendo to allow them to support Wii Motion Plus... so I wouldn't hold my breath. But the game doesn't seem to need 1:1 controls, anyway, you don't really need precision here.
I'd imagine that Chainsaw arm + 1:1 controls=Double the fun. Especially with an audience.
I got to play this at the NY Comic Con today...

So vulgar...

So bloody...

SOOOOOO much fun!

"Somebody's about to get turned into a mutha'fuckin' pancake up in here" (or something like that.

The black and white (and oh so red) style is really cool and helps give the game its own identity right off the bat. I even got a game cover insert signed by the makers of the game that were there, so if/when I get the game I can swap it out and have that one in there. Pretty cool.

IGN Review's up. 9.0!

So, so, so looking forward to getting this tomorrow. Time to dust off the ye olde Wii.
Yeah, I'm going to pick this up as soon as I pay off my credit card. I love that the gameplay rewards creativity. Granted, its the all about how creative you are at killing your enemies, but still...
Fuck you Gamestop closest to my work. That shit drops TODAY, motherfucker! Not tomorrow. grrrr...
Wait...M rated game....on the Wii....published by Sega....by Clover Studios alums.....and it's GOOD?

No, no, nothing about this adds up at all.

Enjoy adult Wii owners. You've earned it.

Gamestop here did the same thing...um, bad weather in SoCal...

I walked across the parking lot to Target and they had piles in stock.
Even the Nintendo Store here didn't have it. They said it was because it hadn't arrived yet (real smooth manufacturers) but I suspect they didn't want to have to explain some shit about violence to the parents of the kids who think the Wii is just 'oh so much fun and friendly for the family'.

Oh, and Gamestop, I'd love to see you try pulling this shit on Friday when a certain other game drops. I suspect you'll have piles upon piles of those that day and not 'sometime in the afternoon on Saturday'.

Bah, sorry, I'm tired, bitter and bullshit today. I haven't seen the sun in days. Blah.
Really Doc, unless it's a major release, Tuesdays tend to be shipping days rather than in-store days. It's ridiculous that the videogame industry has never figured out the science of a firm release date, but what can you do.

I, however, have mastered the science of GameFly queuing, and it should be here by Friday.
It's a major release! It's the first game for the Wii I'm going to buy since Smash Brothers! And one of the few I'll own that doesn't feature a previously established Nintendo character! That's pretty major!
Everyone I've shown this to at work all agrees the camera is kind of shit. Even with the autolocking.

Combat and flow feels chunky in that the AI's are only just waiting there to be pummeled and abused. The boss characters are a little smarter.

But to jump in and mutilate everything in sight is worth admittance. Wife walked out after doing a nasty hot fuzz-eqsue impale move. Destroying people just doesn't get old.

I've gotten to the point where I tell myself I don't care about achievement points anymore, but with all the fucked up and crazy shit you can do...makes you think they could have gone wild if this was on the 360.

I'm hoping they can keep up with the crazy environmental based finishing moves because combat so far is pretty basic.

My Best Buy (and this happened with Left 4 Dead, too) just didn't prioritize putting it out since nobody asked about it before me. The sales flyer said "Available by 2pm", and the computerized inventory backed it up, but there were none on the shelf when I checked at 6pm. After I got a guy to look for it, we laughed at the fact that the box containing the copies said "Rush to Sales Floor". I'll be playing it soon enough, I guess, but first I've got to watch Let the Right One In.
Probably the best brawler since The Warriors. Love the control scheme. It's simple and intuitive, and the results are amusing. Camera sucks, but that's nothing new to 3D action games. Only other problem so far is I have to tone down either the music or the announcers. The audio is a complete mess otherwise.
This game is awesome. It's like playing a souped up version of The Running Man. Simple, easy to grasp and very, very awesome. Repetitive, yes, but it's a brawler, so I'll give it some slack. And pulling off some of the more elaborate kills, damn, haven't figured out how to do that.

So much fun.
I need to get back to it, but my main gripe has been the slowness of everything. It's damn good the AI is poo at normal difficulty, because it can be a real pain in the ass to grab the item or person you're after sometimes. The audio repeats a lot as well. I wish I could tweak the controls just a bit, because the jump and dodge in particular don't really work for me very well, likewise with the camera and slow lock on.
Overall I'm digging it though.

The female boss with the big fans fucked me up but good. I had to play that damn level 4 times before I finally made short work of her.
I was amused by its placement in the shelf at Target:

It's for the Wii, so it's gotta be family-friendly, right?
I just started this a little while ago (thanks to a loaner from our own "Egg") and I'm having a ton of fun so far. I just beat Little Eddie, so I'm not too far in. I'll go slaughter some more, and see how it goes from here.
This is a game best played in spurts of a stage or two at a time.

I beat it a while back and once I figured out the "best" way to play it for my play-style, I had a lot of fun. At about the halfway point I really got into it, and had a blast until the end. It's too bad the driving stages are so boring and simplistic(one boss battle excluded), they sure look snazzy.

I kind of wish I had waited for a price drop, but what can you do? The game sold like shit, sadly.
Yeah, I beat three stages last night, and put it down for some StarTropics and Tetris Party. It's fun. I'll finish it once, and return to Kurt. It has dropped to $30 everywhere, I think. I will probably pick it up at a sub-$20 price sometime down the line.
