I'm not a fetishistic asshole who would buy a DVD because of the case, but damn, I want that case.

I saw that case a few weeks ago and i immediately wanted it.

It encapsulates so much with so little.

I can't wait for season 2.

That's a pretty good price for the bluray version. I wish Deadwood was in this price range.

You got to read the reviews by one of the reviewers on Amazon talking about how this series is damaged due to the glorification of the alcohol and tobacco drugs.

Amazing.

He had another review where he said John Adams (mini series) should not have shown the tobacco drug either

I am dumbfounded

Yes, it glorifies alcohol and tobacco, in that it makes me wish I could live in the show, so I could smoke and drink whenever I wanted. And say things like "I'm not going to let a woman talk to me like this."

Hey, the show is about my life?

Again, I'm not a packaging whore but the fact that the case is metal really is impressive. In terms of features, this thing is stacked.

I put this in the queue and I'm once again reminded how fairly recent mainstream anti-semitism was. To think, that was an issue of concern.

That case is sweet looking - definite purchase.

I completely forgot this came out this week. Looks like I'm off to Best Buy to see how much.

[edit (38 dollars later)]This is a very nice case[/edit]

Just the case?

No, I like/love the show too, Quick Draw McGraw. Or is it still Sir Links-a-Lot?

The transfer on Episode 7 is HORRIBLE. Just really distractingly bad. All the other episodes I've watched so far are great, but Ep. 7 just swims and goes blurry and snaps back sharp and goes bad again over and over. And any time something red borders something white (like in the opening credits) it bleeds over in a weird square pattern. Which really sucks, because it's one of my favourite episodes.

Any official word on the new season being set in '62?
Without a doubt the most creative DVD packaging I have seen. Like Rath, I'm not real uppity, but the metal lighter case, with the red DVDs coming out is something to behold.

Normally, I just stick DVDs in a notebook, but I can't bring myself to do with this. Hell, I feel bad just taking the discs out to watch them. Its that ingenious.

And yes, the second season does take place in '62.

That middle string of episodes, from "Red in the Face" to "Long Weekend," man, that's one giant "Give Jon Hamm the Emmy" run right there.
I'm way late on my review. I stopped at Target and noticed the DVD packaging, and I'm wondering why they didn't use it for the Blu-Ray release (which looks pretty fantastic the whole way through, by the way).

I just burned through season one in three days. The urge to watch them all again immediately is strong. I caught myself rewinding it to memorize certain lines (the ones that didn't sound like they were reaching into my head with all the "This is all there is, and I feel it slipping through my fingers like sand" shit. Man.). Don's Kodak Carousel pitch had me choked up. I think I was moved to near tears 3 or 4 times in the season. New favorite show. Season 2 is on the Tivo season pass.

Nice review, Nick.

The amazing thing is that season 2 blows season 1 away effortless.

Elderly bump, yes, but I'm just now catching up with this and just watched the pilot.

My reaction in a nutshell: Holy shit.

Draper's a great character and this is a beautifully made show. I can't wait to get further in, and I wish I had jumped on the hype train sooner, because it all seems well-deserved.
Ha ha, that pilot ain't shit. "The Wheel" will fuck you up like Harry Crane.

It's a very, very high quality show, Jake, and you and it deserve each other.

But while we're here - did they ever establish why Don's (getting away with) not wearing a wedding ring, ever?
Nice to see you're hopping on the bandwagon Jake. It seems like a series you'll enjoy.
I just finished "5G" and I want to keep watching, but I have the sleeping habits of an elderly man. Still, wow. I LOVE this show and I should have started watching it right when Rath was howling to the hills about how awesome it was (and he was right, o'course).

I haven't seen any mention of the wedding ring, actually. Still no revelation of the sort in S3 either, eh?

Also just started watching this after so many people whose opinions I respect were telling me to watch. And yeah, it really is excellent. I don't know if I'm in lurv with the show just yet, but it's close. All the smoking makes me want to go for a walk and get some fresh air.
Makes me want to smoke. Every episode is like "HEEEY REMEMBER ME I'M YOUR FRIEEEEND TOBACCO! Wanna not be able to taste food again, fuck like a morbidly obese walrus, and hack disgusting stuff up in the shower every morning?"
