The Eagles

I saw them live Friday night here at the brand new Encore Amphitheater in Alpharetta GA, and they were pretty fucking good. I wouldn't have gone out and bought tickets myself, but we had friends who had two extra tickets, so we went with them. They played just over 3 hours, and it was an outstanding concert. Best sounding concert I think I've ever attended, too. Made me want to go out and by a greatest hits CD. I'm old.

Rush will be there in June...I'm strongly tempted to go to that also.

Remember the 5 Ds - dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.

Have you ever heard of the Flying Burrito Brothers? Cause they're only about a hundred times better! (Gram Parsons invented this shit)
Check out the anthology or for a raw primer-"Live at the Avalon Ballroom 1969"
(Somewhere a long time back, Devin wrote a smart on deconstruction of the Eagles-to paraphrase, they wrote good songs but have no soul.)

I'd have to agree with that (and I more or less enjoy the Eagles) - the craftsmanship on display is amazing, but I don't know that there's necessarily any sort of "heart" in their performance. The closest they come to real emotion is the cynicism that surfaces in their last 2 or 3 albums.

Thanks to Joe Walsh!

Steely Dan are also coming to this venue in June and it's also where Stone Temple Pilots are playing as part of their reunion tour.
