Lou Pearlman, Jailbird

Lou Pearlman is going to jail. If you don't know who he is, he's the guy that created N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys. He's going to jail for fraud and, oddly enough, not for the musical misery he's foisted on us for the last 15 years or so.

If you're curious, here's the link.

Yea, I read about this a couple of months ago in Vanity Fair when the charges were pending. What a sleazebucket.

I think this story is fertile ground for a film. Just think: Cameron Crowe directing Phillip Seymour Hoffman in this. Very interesting.

And yet, Justin Timberlake is still a free man.

Interesting crossover with the presidential election thread. jonvoigt'scar mentioned Charlie Crist as a possible running mate for McCain, so I was just reading up on Crist a little. Found this:

Quote:
Music promoter Lou Pearlman needed help to keep his huge financial Ponzi scheme going. Tampa lawyer Jim Lowy said he got it from then-Florida Attorney General - and now Governor - Charlie Crist as well as major financial institutions...
The rest here.

I bet he's going to meet a lot of N'Sync and Backstreet Boys fans in prison.

And by that I mean he's going to be sodomized, beaten and sodomized again for many years. Which is somewhat fitting given he was behind two juggernauts of shit music.

Reading how this guy financially sodomized (and apparently, physically sodomized) musicians under contract with him, is pretty shocking. I particularly liked his "I simply will not pay them any money until they sue" philosophy.
