How did this get a positive response? What a piece of shit. Even more disapointing than Severance.

I watched those two movies in a row. It was pretty sad.

Is horror dead?

I was as close to their main target audience as you could get, and I thought it was crap.

It's like all a movie needs to be acclaimed is to be a throwback to better horror films.

It's a blast to watch drunk with friends.

I don't think so, though horror/comedy is surely on the outs. Shaun of the Dead was kind of a death knell.

This thread bumped the movie from my queue. If it's as "eh" as Severance, then PASS.

I liked it. What was the problem ? Not enough horror?

I agree that severance wasn't that great.

Black Sheep wasn't really my thing but I have to say I really loved Severance. Except for Danny Dwyer or whatever his name his. I'm sure they could have found a different actor to play the horny stoner.

?>?

I liked it too but it still could have been a lot scarier. It was a really good comedy. It just wasn't scary at all. Was it not just an oft remake of "Gdmonster From Indian Flats"??

Eh, I got a kick out of it (if you want the details, you can check out my DVD review here), but I'm not going to proclaim it as a great horror movie or some lasting contribution to the genre. All I can say is that I had a good time with it, and I can see myself revisiting it occasionally. It's far from the worst horror film out there.

At any rate, it's loads better than the Black Christmas remake. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind liking that steaming pile of a movie.*

*Sorry Patrick...I just couldn't resist.

I'd beg to differ.

Severance is awesome, Black Sheep not so much.

Black Sheep was kind of amusing with friends in a crowded cinema, but it's hardly something I'd want to watch again.

I completely agree with Patrick. I haven't seen Severance yet, but between Black Sheep and The Tripper, I've about had it with the horror/comedy genre for a while. These movies have a depressing amount in common with the Epic Movie genre, in that they think that merely referencing other films constitutes a funny joke or a cool moment.

Every time another one of these things comes down the pike, I start to fear that An American Werewolf in London might not be as good as I remember. Then I watch it again. Nope, still great.

Isn't a really good comedy supposed to be funny?

I didn't enjoy Black Sheep. It's a pity because I thought some of the effects and gore were pretty good.

In particular the girl hippie character was really badly written.

I don't think you can expect much out of a movie about a mutated flock of killer sheep. It met the standards I set for it I suppose.

That baby sheep was gross as hell.

Not only badly written, but pointless. She had no role in the story. She was there to provide the cute.

And incidentally, why is it that when a movie tries to evoke the eighties horror films, they feel honor-bound to include all the gore, but not the nudity? That's short-changing the horror fan, right there. You put a cute chick in a movie like this, I expect to see her business displayed at some point.

And naming her Experience just for the pay off of some guy saying "has been so far" was fucking painful.
