The Ghost WITHOUT The Most

So WB has finally announced the release of a 20th anniversary Deluxe Edition DVD of Tim Burton's Beetlejuice (Blu-Ray release also) coming out in September. The transfer is remastered.

20th Anniversary. DELUXE EDTION.

So you would expect a good amount of special features. Yet, unless they haven't announced them the press release for the DVD shows the only special feature being 4 episodes of the Beetlejuice cartoon. So no commentary by Burton and Keaton. No behind the scenes or retrospective featurettes. It seems that with sales on DVDs down, the studios see no reason to give the consumer any incentive to purchase a title. So, hopefully this is an early press release without the special features finalized, otherwise I don't see much reason for purchasing this.

I don't really get into the whole DVD debate too much, but isn't the feature enough incentive to purchase the title?

Not quite enough to make me double-dip something that I've owned on VHS, and replaced with the 1st bare-bones WS DVD. I'd love a stacked edition and would gladly trade up. Remastered isn't enough to coax me.

I've never owned it on DVD, so I'm in. Hopefully they're just holding out on announcing all the special features, but if it's just a Burton-only commentary I'd never listen to it anyway. That man is boring as hell when he does solo commentaries.

Also, the cartoon sucked.

Warners' DVDs have been top notch the last couple of years. Zero chance they're letting this one go with just a few episodes of the cartoon.

I had the VHS with the "Nice fuckin' model line" in it. I've heard the line was taken out for the DVD release. Is that true?

I believe it. They basically just did the same thing with POLTERGEIST. And don't get me started on THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES.

And the Twilight Zone Movie. They've done some great stuff, but WB has fucked up enough for me not to be a cheerleader for them, or make some ridiculous claim that there is ZERO CHANCE of them fucking this over.
