I expect to see plenty of you bastards out there! This is the first of the summer, everyone. They're showing movies every Sunday and I'll be hosting one each month. If you come to it ask anyone who Alex is and come say hello.... I'd love to meet some more Chewers.

So jealous. Have fun, guys. And a beer for me!
I'll definitely gonna get to one of these.
Damn it, Alex. I need to go, but I'm geographically challenged.

As fun as this sounds (and it really, really does), getting from Queens to Brooklyn - particularly after hours on a weekend - would be utter torture.

You just take the N train, lazy ass. Thousands of Brooklyn hipsters and Manhattanites do it every weekend to get to the Beer Garden. Takes no time at all.
Queens is infinitely easier to get to from Manhattan than Brooklyn, and there are no hipsters living off the N-line. What crack are you smoking?

Seriously, I was previously talked into hanging out in Astoria last year. And trying to get home after midnight took me 3 transfers and 3 hours. I don't particularly want to do that again. Especially if I have to be at work early the next morning.

Wild Zero is a very special film that must be seen with a drunk crowd. Must.
Dammit, I'm working that night. I would so, so be there. Guitar Wolf is one of my favoritest live concert experiences ever.

Damn. I'm so intrigued. Yet I hate Queens. So conflicted.
There's always DVD and the liquor store.
No other chewers if you exercise that option, though.

And no prizes!

Seriously, we always get a good crowd at these, a ton of cool people- and there is nothing like getting wrecked and watching some silly movies with a crowd of like-minded people. The bar really is a fantastic place... it's where we play Rock Band every Wednesday.

And Jon Cassady came out from the burbs of Jersey every damn time last summer, so I don't want to hear about commutes.
Yeah, but he's not a petite girl who's going be traveling shitfaced by herself on the NYC subway after hours!

Ok, it doesn't take much to convince me to do things, particularly when they involve alcohol. So I'm not dead set against going as of now. We'll see how things pan out by the end of the week. Maybe I can drag some friends out with me. Probably not though, because they are all married lameos these days.

And I hate to say since this is a movie website and all, but the Wednesday night Rock Band sounds much more fun.

I'm there every Wednesday. Winning prizes and astonishing the crowd.

I've got some very cool things (and shitty movies) to give away Sunday... and I've confirmed that there's going to be a happy hour till 9. Few bucks off your drinks or something.

The last time I played the Wild Zero drinking game I puked purple six times in one night. So yes, I'll be there. I look forward to staring some Chewers in the eyes.

There will be no rabbis to punch out, so you might want to stay home.

Thanks to everyone who came out! Thanks to Fabfunk for not! That drinking game is a monster...

Next month (possibly the 5th) we're going to have another one.

Wait, there's Rock Band EVERY Wednesday in Astoria you say? This changes things. From when until when?
Had I not been at a friend's pig roast (I kid you not), I would have been there. Sounds like everyone had a good time though.

Yeah everyone was screaming ROCK N' ROLL and yelling out whenever there was an indication on screen that you had to drink. And there are a LOT of those. Good times with a fun crowd.

Usually starts around 8:30-9 and continues until everyone looks at the time, yells "Holy shit!", and runs off to catch a couple hours' sleep before work.

We really need some more good guitar players to come, because I kill everyone there, and I'm not even that great at the game.

I would think drummers would be in demand. Or are there some drum pros?

I've been trying to teach myself drums, but I was excellent at guitar. Maybe I can dust it off, and see what I still got.
Sorry I missed this. I was actually in Astoria, but I was caught up helping a friend move. After carrying furniture, I was too damn exhausted and sweaty to be seen anywhere other than the subway.

No worries. There will be more.

There was only one regular who is amazing at drums, but this other guy came that finally beat him. (They've got two drums sets to go head to head every once in a while) He's a regular now too. It's funny, every week there's new people there and the group of regulars keeps growing and growing. We all come in bands, pretty much, and there are rivalries. It's pretty funny. Definitely going to be there tomorrow if anyone wants to come by.

Oh, and did I mention they have drink specials all night? 3 bucks buys you a Miller High Life or Busch, and a shot of shitty bourbon. Can get you wacked real cheap....
I was there last night. Great bar. Anyone else?

Hah, figures... first night I missed in months. I was really fiending for a sandwich, too. Get a chance to play much?
I played about half a dozen songs. Took some getting used to, in the new venue and all, but I had it by the end. Sang Margaritaville, drunkenly, at about 2 AM.

The Rock Band was great, but the highlight of the evening was the 3 dollar Busch and bourbon. That is unbelievable, even for the boroughs, and I'll definately be coming back there.

Cool, man. Did you go again last week? I saw a bunch of new people but had to get out of there early. If anyone comes tonight, ask anyone behind the bar for Alex.

The real reason I'm bumping this thread is because the next movie will be on July 6th. I might be keeping a theme this summer of Japanese flicks... but I'll let you guys know for sure.

You could keep it Asian, and go with RICKY-OH: The Story of Ricky. That would seem to go over well in that kind of environment.

Did that last year, actually... and yeah, it was a huge hit.

I cannot encourage people enough to go...just getting over my Rock n' Roll hangover.

Next weekend is going to be the next screening! Details will go up Monday, but same time and place.

Also, tomorrow night (er, tonight. Sunday.) they're going to be screening Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. We're not hosting, but going to show up anyway. Big women need love too.
