This is what happens when Universal fucks you in the ass.

The good money says this is being released so they can put it on Blu-Ray at the same time, but who figures just like the first double dip it will be a cash in without any worthwhile features?

I double-dipped and picked up the 2-disc set a couple of summers ago.

And studios do this all the fucking time.

My barebones disc really ties the room together.

Yeah, I figured this would be coming because of the 10 year ann. It'd be nice if they'd get a 10 yr ann. Blu-Ray out for Saving Private Ryan and Rushmore about now, I've already got this one on HD DVD, which will hold me over until the thing breaks.

I would assume this would be a Criterion thing. They announced Bottle Rocket will be one of their first Blu-rays, so I wouldn't think Rushmore and Tenenbaums would be far behind.

Well, at least they announced yet another Breakfast Club DVD. I can't wait until next year for the Yearbook Edition or the Saturday Detention edition. Atleast for the dozenth release they decided to actually put some special features on this new one.

That's my hope. I've got my fingers triple crossed. I would have expected a Saving Private Ryan release either the week of Memorial Day or of D-Day. Memorial Day is gone and D-Day is really soon, so I don't think it's going to happen. Maybe 4th of July or Vet's Day, but I think we would've heard something by now.

The film itself will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen
Isn't the film in 1.85:1?

Yeah, that must've been an error on Universal's part. I know Tom just copy/pastes that technical information, and I seriously doubt they're reframing it.

Wait! What 2-disc set? I got that incredibly lame Achiever's Edition as a gift but that was just the movie and some paltry extras on a single disc, packaged in a big bowling-style box.

Anyway, since the Coens don't seem to like extras and Universal just outright sucks, I'll only be picking this up again on Blu-Ray.

Special Features revealed
Disc 1:
Introduction by Mortimer Young
Jeff Bridges Photograph
The Dude's Life: Strikes and Gutters...Up's and Downs...The Dude Abides
Production Notes
Theatrical Trailer

Disc 2: Extra Features
The Making of The Big Lebowski
The Lebowski Fest: An Achiever's Story
Flying Carpets and Bowling Pin Dreams: The Dream Sequences of the Dude
Interactive Map
Jeff Bridges Photo Book
Photo Gallery

So, there's this Dude's Life featurette, probably be some fluff piece. The Dream Sequences of the Dude... maybe it's the behind the scenes of that, or it could just be clips from the movie, which would be lame. The Lebowski Fest feature was supposed to be on the last DVD. Other than that everything is on the last DVD.

No commentary, no retrospective piece, no deleted scenes.

From our good friends at DVDActive, the cover art:

Kinda creepy how they prominently featured a pederast.

Turturro's placing is the major flaw with that art. I like the image but he throws off the balance. Move Donny up a bit and put Jesus on that side like the rest of them with the Dude in the center.
