The Hellboy

Some of you newer people might not know the guy, but I've always enjoyed The Hellboy's posts and his work on many DVD box sets, including the exemplary KINGDOM OF HEAVEN Director's Cut Box. Well, I went to www.blu-ray.com today and read that he's suffering from brain cancer.

Here's the link: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=1319

If you want to help a fellow geek out, please go to http://www.paulsbraintrust.com/ or just drop a line to him and ask how he's doing. Thanks.

Awful news to start the morning. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Oh man...so sorry to hear that. I never really got to know him hear on the boards, but I always enjoyed reading his posts.

I'll be honest and say that being real new to the forums I don't know the person you're talking about, but even so its terrible news for someone to be diagnosed with such an awful disease. My thoughts are with him, and anyone else having to go through such an ordeal with Cancer.

What the hell? This sucks.

Paul is one in a fuckin' million. Run, don't even think about walking, to help any way you can...

Strax said it better than anyone. If ever there was a reason to rally the troops, this is it.

I've only met the man twice and already consider him a good friend. Just the sweetest, most generous, funnest dude. And he looks like Beastmaster. I eagerly await the details on the upcoming LA fundraising events.

I wish I could go to that benefit. I'll be in Chicago in August, though.

I sent in something to Harry.

Fucking hell. No way I can fly to Chicago, but I'll have to tip in. This is really sad.

Holy fuck. I knew he hadn't been around for a while, and saw the story about paulsbraintrust and knew The Hellboy had worked on a lot of cool DVDs via talking to him on the boards, but figured "nah can't be him." This blows.

Is the Blade Runner screening still happening? Could have sworn I read about it yesterday, but now can't find any info on it. If I do a google search it shows something should be on the myspace page, but then I click and nothing about it is there.

Thanks for letting everyone know about this. Donation sent. Paul's good people and here's wishing him and his family the best.

Thanks, guys.

I may have had some differences with The Hellboy in the past, but this is just heartbreaking stuff. As soon as I get a paycheck, first thing I'm doing is donating as much as I can.

Best of luck to you and your family, Paul.

I wonder what the collectible is... Damn, don't really have the $50 but this sounds cool and he's an awesome guy, so I'm in. If I get a Blade Runner poster or something (I'm sure WHV has a crapload of them sitting in their poster room), all the better (though I'd rather it not be a little toy spinner car or lenticular card).

Paul's a great guy and this is just tragic. If you live in the LA area this screening is a must. The Stephen J. Ross theater is huge, classy, and literally in the middle of the backlot. Plus, it's one of the few places that cranks the sound up as loud as it needs to be. You couldn't see Blade Runner at a better place. My friend Steve saw The Final Cut there and doesn't shut up about it. If you know any sci-fi geeks around here with disposable income then spread the word. It's a very simple and easy way (if you can afford it) to help a guy out.

It's also a short walk from Central Perk where you can get some very cheap DVDs (if they're open on Saturday)

All my best to HB and his family.

Thanks to Beeks for getting the word out. You Chewers with some coin, part with as much as you can.

Fuck you, cancer.
