Gotta love that title...

So, the new album is due in June 23rd. The first single can be downloaded from their official site and the video is out. Note that the video is NSFW, as it's basically full of naked people.

And the announced tracklist:

1. gobbledigook
2. inní mér syngur vitleysingur
3. góðan daginn
4. við spilum endalaust
5. festival
6. suð í eyrum
7. ára bátur
8. illgresi
9. fljótavík
10. straumnes
11. all alright

So that song is quite different from what we previously heard from the band, and it's a pleasant surprise. It's however so different that some might end up hating it...

Wow. That song, Gobbledigook, is ecstasy. It has a world music feel to it but retains many of the elements that make Sigur Ros one of my favorite bands. I am completely stoked for this release! Plus, they have Amiina returning to play the string sections again. Should be bliss.

I am curious to see how the band's steadily increasing popularity will do in contrast to its unmarketable album cover and video. When I first got into them with Agaetis Byrjun, no one knew who they were, now I hear Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to their music. Weird.

Gobbledigook might be my favorite thing my ears have EVER experienced. Seriously, people- it's a free download. It will restore your faith in humanity.

After a couple listening sessions, this song is indeed fucking amazing. It's so far away from the early "beached whale sound" that they're know for.

Fantastic, beautiful. While I'm the diest of die hard fans of their "beached whale sound", I defintely enjoy the direction their going. I'm not big on music, but it's nice to actually be able to hear a band's evolution (and for me to actually pick up on it). Rarely do I buy CDs anymore, but Sigur Ros is always a must have.

I like the single a lot. The video's a heathenistic good time, too. Looking forward to seeing just how diverse this new album might be. I think the change will be a good thing for them.

The album is available for streaming and all I can say is WOW!!!

Instant gratification for a Sigur Ros album? I'll say yes. Reviewers will probably say its their most accessible album yet and I couldn't agree more.

I usually don't use hyperbole about many things but I am floored.

After 2 listening sessions, yup, it's pretty much what the single promised. Festival is fucking grandiose.

Might be my album of the summer along with Hercules and Love Affair and the new Wolf Parade. Now, let's see if this has lasting power like their other albums.

I can smell a whole new movie crop of trailers utilizing them.

Not shocked at all that this album sounds wonderful. Wow. I have no idea what the hell they're singing about, but it doesn't matter.

Finally picked this up today at Target for 7.99. It was a little odd when I saw this advertised in the Sunday ads because I thought the nude cover and video made it unmarketable. Also surprising was that it seemed to be selling pretty well (#5 on Amazon and #4 on Itunes.)

The album still holds up for me since I last streamed it. It is still mind blowing.

"Festival" took a few listens to get into but it is amazing.
"Med Sud i Eyrum" is also amazing, that piano will stay in my head for a very long time.

Get this great album.

Whoa! Thanks for pointing out the Target price. I was in there last night, and somehow missed this.

This album hold up very well to the rest of their work, and so far my favorite is the 2nd track; Inní mér syngur vitleysingur. Outstanding.

Kjartan of Sigur Ros is doing the score for Neil Jordan's Ondine.
