You need to practice your "stink-eye" skill.
Find a mirror. Once you manage to intimidate yourself, you're halfway there.

I look forward to the next installment.

Trust me Nexus-7, I have gotten my "stink-eye" skills down to a science. Unfortunately, they're not working on the new generation of brash, non-respectful douche bags. It's my fault for being too much of a nice guy.

Thanks for reading!

Haha no problem, man. You're my favorite CHUD blogger, along with Sam Strange and Nick.

Maybe you need to check "stink-eye" on YouTube and see what the kids are doing?

That's awesome. I'm honored and humbled. I've also decided that, the next time I catch a flick, I'm loading up on pepper spray and tasers. I've also been brushing up on my Muay Thai martial arts moves, in case I need to elbow somebody in the nards.

That'll learn those disrespectful bastards!

As always, thanks for the support!

Welshy,
The dude next to me got a bucket o' popcorn and a drink. When the footage ended, he yelled out "Anybody wanna buy some popcorn?" I couldn't figure out why he bought all this crap (at first I thought he might try to sneak into another movie and these were props to make him look more convincing, but they had security all over the place checking tickets).

Good stuff Gabe! I thoroughly enjoyed your word creation and the details on the woman with bad breath. Reminds me of my 7th grade Math Teacher...had breath that smelled like hot garbage. Probably since she was firing up smokes all day and pounding cups of coffee. I believe she might have had a block of wet cheese she dipped into too...probably to lock in the shit smell. Keep firing over the goods. Your words come home to me like truth!

Colonel,
I'm humbled and, strangely enough, slightly turned on by your kind words (I have many, many problems). I had a math teacher once who, I'm pretty sure, wore diapers. I could see their outline under her massive pants-suit. And a mighty "swishing" sound would tunnel out of her pants everytime she sashayed to the blackboard. The sound was hypnotic. And disturbing. Maybe she ate too much wet cheese as a child. Anyway, thanks for writing and reading!

Did they only make 3 of these? This was a series that always haunted me from video store shelves when I was younger, along with the Psycho sequels. Never watched any of them though.
I don't even remember Poltergeist II. And the third was kind of crap, but the bit when that person gets sucker into the floor was neat. Was Lara Flynn Boyle the one eaten by concrete?

Nexus-7, you should give the first Poltergeist a shot. It hasn't held up incredibly well, but for a PG-rated movie, it's pretty intense. Fortunately, only two sequels were produced, as well as a crappy Showtime television show that was similar in name only. I should have written down the exact times when the memorable scenes occur in Poltergeist II, just so you or anyone else wouldn't have to waste their time suffering through the whole thing. Then again, there's always youtube!

Natalia, I completely forgot that Lara Flynn Boyle was in Poltergeist III! See, that's how unmemorable it was for me! After checking around, it seems that this was her first film role. The concrete scene rings a faint, distant bell, so maybe I should revisit the flick (or at least the scene). But, truth be told, I'm afraid to. Very, very afraid.

Oh my bad. Some poor phrasing on my part there. I have seen the first Poltergeist and Psycho films, and never bothered with any of the sequels. Poltergeist is indeed awesome, and holds up really really well today.

I almost dodged a bullet with the Jaws sequels, but it was not meant to be.

Nexus-7,
That's funny, because I was originally going to mention the declining quality of the Jaws films in my Poltergeist series summary. I've actually seen every Psycho film too (even the crappy made-for-tv ones) and I would suggest to keep steering clear of those. Unlike Poltergeist II, there are absolutely no memorable scenes in any of these sequels.
Wow, I'd never heard of all this made-for-TV Psycho and Poltergeist stuff. Who would have thunk it?

In this case, ignorance is bliss. However, if you want to punish yourself, there's a made-for-tv Psycho IV & a spin-off of sorts titled Bates Motel.

Michael Ironside rules! I have seen him in quite a few crappy films, but he's always compelling, even when he's overacting or dealing with a lame script.

Nice one! It made me laugh and cry (Hee!).

I'm one of those rare females not very prone to crying (unless I'm laughing like a hyena), but age has damaged me, and now I tear up with the most unlikely things, like the UNKLE video for their song Heaven. I never knew shit exploding could be so emotional. And District 9. When the credits rolled, I nearly drowned in a pool of tear.

Thankfully it only happens when I'm alone. I think I pride myself on being an ice queen as much as you pride yourself on being a hardcore manly man. But sometimes a good cry ain't bad.

Good post.

Thanks Natalia! I have to admit, the ending of District 9 was kind of sad (he made her a flower!), but I looked at it in a positive way, since the ending was sort of open-ended and slightly ambiguous. I took it as he sacrificed himself for the aliens and almost deserved what he got, on account that he was initially such a prick. Anyway, I'm going to have to check out this UNKLE video. I'll try not to cry too much!
Nice. I especially like the tourrette's/laughing technique.

Lately The Fountain has been raping my tear ducts. I'm not bawling like a baby during the whole film or anything, but that's one of those movies that just has me misty for much of the running time(good drinking game too, take a shot every time Hugh cries). Like that film is one dead kitten or puppy away from the edge. Luckily, no dead kittens or puppies, so I'm all good.

Top Gun fucked me up when I was younger. I haven't seen it in a while so I might laugh at it now for all I know, but Goose man, Goose! Why Goose?!
Thread Starter
Oh man, that Goose one was good. When I first saw Top Gun I remember his death shocking my preteen system.

I haven't seen The Fountain yet (oddly enough, I have two copies of it on DVD...where the hell did those come from?), but I'll take any excuse to play a drinking game. When I check it out, I'll let you know if I get misty-eyed (or drunk).

After much rumination, I have concluded that the finale was emotionally satisfying, yet intellectually vacant.
That's exactly how I felt about Lost's finale. As I watched it, I cried. And about 2 hours later I was all "what the fuck man??" But I was emotionally satisfied.

I'll be listening to the podcast soon. I think podcasting should include alcohol as a rule. Can you imagine a drunken christian podcast? Gold.
