City of Thieves by David Benioff

His first novel since 25th Hour and his Hollywood adventures. It's about a couple of deserters during the siege of Leningrad. I picked it up from the bookstore this weekend and it's pretty good so far. Benioff has a very clean yet poetic way of writing that I hadn't realized I'd missed. (I read 25th Hour back in high school and it blew me away, even if I didn't completely get it then.)

The premise didn't get me. Is it good enough to read just for the Benioff?

Yeah, I like it a lot so far. The premise was intriguing enough, sure, but the prose is what attracted me, especially since it was his first novel since 25th Hour.

When the Nines Roll Over was great, though. I'll give it a spin. Wonder if it's on Audible.

I found out, only recently, that Benioff had a new novel out. I ordered it from Amazon the other day, so I should be reading it soon enough.
